What Will Replace My Jaguar F-Type?

Lexus RC F, Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, Mustang, Maserati Granturismo/Levante/Ghibli(v6’s & v8’s), BMW M850i (3.7s 🔥), McLaren 570s (probably pushing it a bit - might even end up having to push it too 😂), Nissan GT-R. My pick out of the above would be the BMW M850i. 4.4 v8, 3.7 0-60 and looks stunning. RC F and Alfa are quite special, affordable and uncommon.

Alfa = breakdown. M8 = too big RC F = not special enough. Mustang is okay, but yeah… not sure. Thanks for the suggestions

It’s a difficult one to answer. I still absolutely love my (my wife’s) V6 F-Type convertible and I have been looking for a V8 F-Type coupe with a pan roof but, there’s a bit of doubt that’s just stated to creep into my mind. I took my the V6 for its MOT earlier in the week. The round trip was about an hour. Admittedly the road surfaces here in Kent are appalling but I was glad to get out after that drive. I want something a bit more comfortable on a long journey. Like my old XKR but they are getting a bit long in the tooth now. The Porsche is probably the best bet. I’ve had a few and I know that you will be sold just as soon as you have had that test drive. My list of possibles are F-Type V8, Porsche 911 ( but with a Hartec rebuilt engine, Boxster ( they are fabulous cars - we have had 6 so far) but not the 4 cylinder ones, and ( don’t laugh) a newer Mercedes SL V8, ok that don’t have the X factor but they are a superbly comfortable grand tourer. How about a Mercedes AMG GT? They are brilliant and definitely have that X factor…..

There could be some big bills with the R8. I think the Porsche is a safer bet. Look forward to seeing whatever you go for.

Done the R8 before getting the f type. Couldn’t deal with the repair bills. Spent over 4k in the 6 months. Go with the SVR! Although it was amazing to have the R8. Everyone loved it and you do feel special driving it but unless you have deep pockets I would avoid.

Hi was going to say the SVR , just before you saying you were thinking about it . I would go with the SVR , but it's not my choice ?. And iam a bit of a jaguar nut ,so would be my choice. Hope you find your dream car .

R8s are notorious for breaking down and expensive to maintain, they spend more time in the garage than they do on the road , all over the internet, put me off buying one which I near did . I own a 5 litre R AWD 550 hp which I absolutely love , just come back from traversing the Spanish Pyrenees and next Friday off to Italy via France and coming back via Switzerland and France again , a 23 day trip , love touring in my Jaguar, I still think they are the best value for money sports car out there , by the way I have had a 3 litre F type too good luck with your choice

I think you are right to go for something different like mid or rear engine. See what fits you best. I tried an 2014 r8 and the pedals were offset so no good. (6ft 4)

Also have the V6S and always looking on autotrader just for fun- funny enough very similar to what I’ve been looking at. The 991.1 would be a great next car, quite reliable and in my eyes modern enough too (considering able to add CarPlay). Also looked at RS5- slightly more practical with more seats but agree with being away from the sports/ super car. Other option potentially AMG GT and lotus Emira? Not sure how these will fit you but price wise may be in your budget.

Yeah the AMG GT is a consideration just didn’t finance well, annoyingly. Lotus Emira looks great, just not sure reliability is great from owners

Audi R8 has little class (also they are very problematic as they get older going by someone I know with one, endless issues mostly down to how complicated they are and they are just a Audi), F-Type or a 911 have class

I was considering a BMW Z4 M40i, haven’t tried it yet… however my F-Type is apparently more puristic, emotional and more old school which I prefer I guess… 😅

@@tootalltodrive I watched now almost all your F-Type related content which consists more or less of repair and anger videos… sorry for that or really bad luck :/ what I’ve heard from my dealership and customers there is that the F-Types (except the very early ones) have really little issues and seem to be quite reliable (at least for Jag standards :-)) I had an annoying issue where I had to replace the battery 5 times until they found the real reason a defective control unit… but that was it basically in 8 years and about 33k km… hope you get it solved soon! Cheers! PS wouldn’t go for the Audi and I myself was considering R & SVR‘s from time to time… however I‘m already way too fast with the V6 on normal roads… what am I supposed to do with a SVR? Buying a track? 😀

R8 will likely be tight for you, my friend is 6'5'' and 120kg he couldn't fit in the convertible, coupe has a little more room but I think you're even taller than him. Who are you thinking of using for financing? £8k down on a R8 v10 isn't going to be less than £8-900 on HP so guessing you're going to a finance specialist? R8 is a good shout, other options you've not mentioned could be Lexus LC500, RC F, BMW M8, Lotus Evora, Nissan GTR, R231 SL63 AMG or maybe a Aston Martin 12 Vantage.

Yeah finance specialists - loads on Instagram just message them. It’s HP with balloon. I did think about an LC500 but the interior doesn’t do it for me. M8 is a bit high. Lotus Emira would be keen but heard horror stories… Nissan GTR not my thing. SL63 too much of a GT. Vantage, reliability and bit debatable. But definitely something to think about!

If you looking at 911 go for the 991.2 its a much better bet than the 991.1 for reliability etc although lets be honest, as you can appreciate probably more than most, any modern is a risk these days.

Different angle for you….TVR Cerbera or Tuscan. You can get a decent one for £30k, will have loads of room (im bigger than you and fit well)…something different and very little depreciation…all issues fixed years ago!

Had a Cerbera when new.......most unreliable car l had the displeasure to own, if you like breakdowns get a Cerbera.......chassis rust out on them badly

Like you said I’m looking for a F type and your vids popped up. Situation with you, if they’re not answering your emails get on the phone. They should be getting this done asap not passing you off with excuses. There is an Aston Martin Vantage for sale at Walton on Thames for £59990 4.7 V8 sport shift. Now for some constructive criticism or if you’re going to be a successful KZbinr. Try and cut out the Ers and Ums in your dialogue as it can make it appear boring to the viewer. You said at least 30 ums on this video. I know it’s possibly habit but try a script or edit them out. Otherwise good luck with the channel and hope you either get your car sorted out or you get yourself a new model. 🤜🤛
