More and more people in Romania are turning against the EU, and the fact that we were rejected in Schengen for so long helped a lot + AUR in the elections. Then they were all amplified by the war in Ukraine, and now Russia has a fairly large group of supporters in Romania. Oh, and I almost forgot: the EU policy of shoving migrants down your throat has worsened the situation again. Maybe the next time the EU has new policies, they should think about them better.

For example, if Romania chose to side with Russia in the current political situation, all of Europe would have a big problem. AUR is making a mockery of my country by being against ukraine for irelevant historical reasons, like territories that where barely part of romania and that are sparsely populated with romanians. Not only is it stupid to promote such things but it is also imposibile to ever have territory from ukraine, there are treaties and there is nato and Romania, as delusional as you might be, you must realise Romania never was and it will never be a great power that can invade other countries. This material sucks for one single reason, it presents the choice as only being between extremism and extreme corruption. In reality, there's a third choice, USR and their allies. They are truly the only reformist and anti corruption option, that despite some shortcomings, actually have competent and educated leaders. Also, the coalition between PSD and PNL is far weaker than you think, it is highly unlikely that it will last for long. These 2 parties, despite being on the opposite sides of the political spectrum, got together multiple times in the past 10-15 years. It never ended well. What people don't realize yet is that PSD is not covertly supporting AUR just so that they weaken any opposition and so that they can get the president, they want to create a new coalition with them after the elections, and dump PNL. Although they say they will never make an alliance with AUR right now, this is a lie (PSD members lie more frequently than they blink). After the elections, they will see AUR as far more palatable, and will justify the new coalition as "what people voted and wanted". This is really the scariest scenario and unfortunately, the most probable.

Well, there's a good reason he didn't mention the USR and that's because it has practically 0 chances to have any meaningful role after the 2024 elections. Despite being the only democratic opposition, it actually lowered it's score since the 2020 elections(only 10%-15% in the polls) due to some dumb choices by their leaders(like dumping Elena Lasconi as the leader of the European Parliament list) and petty internal squabbles - it even felt the need to form an alliance for this year's elections with 2 extra-parliamentary parties that hover around 2%-1%. Also, the coalition would not break down. The PSD and PNL may have some disagreements on political appointments, but overall they see the coalition as the most beneficial to them, since they are fundamentally clientelist parties that are organized like mafia structures - they prefer just delimitating influence zones. PNL has no reason to break the coalition, their previous coalition with USR was disastrous and really pissed off local leaders, and even if they somehow mended ties, the 2 parties are lucky if they can reach 35% of the votes together, so no, PSD-PNL would likely govern until 2028, they just have no other option.

Look, I'm from Romania and here there are different opinions about the far right, and even about the coalition that governs our country. In the last 4 years, the prices have been exploding like crazy and a normal person can't handle it with the minimum salary (about 500 euros/month). Even these two parties are diametrically opposed. The far right doesn't represent the conservative spectrum and they aren't promoting their de jure ideology. They are just in our Parliament because the people didn't vote in 2020. And also there is false information that is spreading. So in 2024 Romanians should demonstrate they are more than capable of getting a non-toxic majority in the Parliament and even a better president. We need a huge attendance at all elections...
