It really depends. If Phoenix can embrace mixed use zoning (like you see in New York or Paris, France where there are shops at street level and apartments above), and do infill new development on the ruins of those dead malls, you can add a lot units where traffic considerations were already made (those malls used to have a lot of traffic), and the stores that are right down stairs means you don't need to drive to do literally everything. You just run downstairs and get groceries and household goods, or go to a restaurant, or see a movie. That solves for traffic, housing supply, and tax base (these tend to be great money makers for municipal tax revenue). You also need to ban the growing of alfalfa in your state. You literally use more water on cow food than you do in all the homes and apartments in the entire state. Water problem solved.

None of that is even rational this is a desert in Arizona it's a desert Paris is not a desert it doesn't matter how low the apartments are how you build it's about the population and the demand for water and the fact that the politicians have not refurbished replenish the resources in the groundwater the water tables are low it's a disaster but it's a desert and that's how it goes when you got 30,000 million people living on top of aquifer that is going dry

I thought the govenor passed a new law a few months back that states there could be no new developments unless they could find the water to support all those new homes. What happened to that? Why was this question not asked during this interview? How long has it been since we have seen much in the way of measurable rain and how many days in a row did we see over 110 degree temperatures. The city could become a ghost town if there is not reasonable planning that involves where the water going to come from.

We need a bigger and better water project. They need to look in to water Mexico City is doing. Collecting all the water from the rain and producing it into clean and drinkable water. We also need a better transportation system. I've been saying that the city should have been planning on a subway system 40 years ago. Adding extra lanes to the I-10 near the Broadway curve is something, but in 10 years, it'll go back to the way it's been. Too many people are moving in. We need a better transportation system. We may have the light rail, but we barely got that 15 years ago. It's still a limited amount of destinations it can go. The city really screwed on not planning ahead.

I guess these people haven't been informed of the water shortage along with the crime here in Arizona I know all states have crime I was born and raised in Arizona and back in the seventies and before Arizona was a great place to live but as years have went by it has changed and not always for the good. At one time if your vehicle broke down and you were parked along the road you'd have four five cars stopped to help. You didn't fear you would be robbed or that you would be harmed in any way today you really worry At one time we really did have good schools now it's hard to find one not because the teachers are so bad it's has a lot to do with money and teacher shortage One thing that's really changed less water and more crime and a lot more people. And unfortunately the politicians keep moving them in and yet they don't take care as they say your backyard
