The management office No. 14 has an invitation for executives, which is a kind of special feature where they stay and eat when the deputy general level comes down from Pyongyang. When executives come down from Pyongyang, they will select women aged 21 to 25 with even faces among female prisoners, bathe them, and dedicate them to the executives. Executives use these women as all kinds of tricks and secretly kill them as "runners" to keep them confidential.

Soon the USA would be out of entitled and snowflakes and North Korea could deal with them, while the USA have some great new citizens who wouldn't call the manager because the one who doesn't work there won't help them to find stuff... I don't think NK is actually communist. While I don't agree with communism, while studying the subject I understood NK is not actually communist. When there are rich and poor, it's not communism anymore

@@readyintrovertone5808 the communism that you talk about never really existed. There were always some people with more privileges than others or more money and so on. That's why "real" communism is utopic. It never existed, it doesn't exist right now and it never will. My country (Romania) abolished communism in 1989, but we still live under it's effects even to this day, considering that most of our politicians that came after the Revolution were the ones that had some influence during the communist era and corruption is still a huge thing in most Eastern European countries. In my opinion, communism is the worst thing that ever happened during the history of this country and most of Eastern Europe. @@alunjones3860 So it’s not that they want to go back, but they feel it’s necessary to save loved ones lives. Anyone can understand that as a motive, as it is an exceedingly brave and selfless impulse. It is also a grave mistake to do so. There is no advantage to returning for either the families or the escapee. Kim will kill every single escapee that returns in front of his or family as a warning to all other NK citizens. All NKoreans are already living under threat of death at any moment at the whim of a madman. The lives of the remaining families are being used as tools of psychological torture to compel the escapees to falsely believe their families would be spared if they only return. It is diabolical. The escapees must learn to live in freedom while knowing their families are being imprisoned. No matter what Kim promises everyone knows the end result will be that he will have revenge on any escapee and his family whether or not the escapee returns. This is a certainty.

@kgs2280

Yes, she’s comparing Socialism to a Dictatorship. They’re NOT the same thing. The Nazis and Russians confused people (on purpose) by putting the word “Socialist” in the name of their party (Nazis) and in the name of their country (country). Neither was Socialist; both were dictatorships (and the Nazis were even further right than Sociaists even though people on the right in the U.S. accuse it of being a far-left system). Since then, people all over the world think Socialism means a dictatorship. That’s why so many right-wingers get freaked out when people on the left hold up Scandinavian and other European countries, in any way, as good examples of good governance. That’s why I always use the term “Democratic Socialism” to explain these country’s social system. Democratic Socialism is NOT pure Socialism either, and is a combination-style between Democracy (and Capitalism) and pure Socialism. In the U.S. I refer to our system as “toxic” or end-stage Capitalism”, because our corporations really run everything, including our government and politicians, and EVERYTHING has to be all about profits for the corporations, no matter who or how many people get hurt. In those more left-leaning countries in Europe, things are purposely run to actually help the people who do the actual work and pay taxes, and the people live very much happier lives in general. I highly recommend watching Michael Moore’s documentary “Where to Invade Next”. It’s an outstanding documentary about how various European countries run various aspects of their societies, including work, education, politics, legal institutions (like prisons) women’s rights and vacations. It’s a real eye-opener, and i even cried during it thinking how much better our lives here in the U.S. could be if we instituted many of those policies. But, the corporations (and the corporate-owned politicians) would never allow it because those things do not increase THEIR profits, but actually cost them money. We are nothing but slave labor to them, ironically much like a dictatorship. It’s called a Corporatocracy. What they don’t understand (or actually really don’t care about) is that healthier, better educated, happier people work better longer and produce more for the country and economy in the long-term, not to mention that the crime rates go down because happier well-paid people commit fewer crimes. But that doesn’t factor into authoritarianism. Sorry to go on a long rant, but I always feel the need to clear up the misconceptions about the word “Socialism” that are being spread to invoke fear in the populace.

I doubt anyone would say that conditions in America are worse than North Korea. However, just because the US has better conditions than that of North Korea does not mean that there is no plight, and should not mean that people are unable to be critical of their own situation. It is always a good idea to remind yourself of your blessings and to get perspective from others situations, but often times change comes from criticism and activism. Where would the US be today if everyone just said well at least it's better than North Korea? The civil rights and women's rights movements were in the last 100 years. I understand that this is better than you experienced, but there is always room for growth if the system isn't working for the majority of it's people.

Completely agree. I'm Scottish and when I look at what goes on in America, a lot of how things work shocks me. In Scotland, we have free education (even undergraduate degree level) and free healthcare (something I think everyone should be entitled to). We all pay fair taxes (which are calculated based on earnings) and this pays for these kinds of things. It shocks me to hear that people in America often don't call an ambulance if they are seriously injured or dying because if they did they would be bankrupt. Of course, North Korea is worse than America but that doesn't mean America is good. I am so grateful not to be in either of these countries, to be honest. And as you say, there is always room for growth. Scotland is not perfect either.

@@CH-qh8tu Exactly, these are issues that many gloss over as if these are not factors in overall well-being. Many of the Americans who might say they want socialism are those who cannot afford healthcare, childcare or education. What they want is not necessarily socialism but social policies and programs. The difference in North Korea (regarding domestic violence) is that it happens so often that no one cares, it's not even illegal. The husbands don't get punished for hitting their wives. In South Korea, (as well as many other countries) it's illegal and punishable by law. You also mentioned about people who struggle to make ends meet under a capitalist society. The beauty is that we have people who come out of poverty and become very successful. Yeonmi is one of the great examples of someone who came out of poverty (very little education from North Korea) and became very educated and successful in a relatively short amount of time under capitalism.

People definitely take their freedoms for granted. At the same time, flaws in capitalism do cause needless suffering like not having access to healthcare but that doesn't mean you reject the whole system. It just means the system needs to be improved, and we are fortunate enough to have the autonmy to address it. I just wish there was another word to separate what goes on in countries like the Netherlands, Noway and Iceland from what's happening in North Korea and Cuba and Venuzuela. All those countries are considered socialist but only some value human rights which is an important distinction. For the morons arguing that capitalism is so problematic that they would move to North Korea... just go then.

There are words to describe these various differences, it's just that people are incredibly lazy in this particular topic, since honest discussion is often not the goal. "Why don't you just go to north korea" is not an honest question to explore the topic, it's an attempt to say "ha, gotcha!" Usually it's used by people who don't want to discuss capitalism's issues at all, because capitalism is pretty much a religion in the US. "Why don't you just leave" is a lazy statement in general.

I am greatful for the freedom I have in my country. Mostly to my ancestors and people today who were like defectors. Fought and died for freedoms and justice that were denied to them for hundreds of years. From Native Americans, to indentured servants, slaves, and victims of hate crimes, it was their strength, tenacity, courage, and Voice that has shaped this country the way it is. Our government be it republican or democrat, rarely enact laws for the benefit of the people unless it’s protested for and pushed for by the people. That is why I will always encourage people to use their voice, peaceful protest, and influence to push for changes they want to see in this country. I believe there is a difference in being unaware of your freedom, and just wanting to make this place as equal for all as possible. It can become dangerous to not question or call out officials and policies on either side. And finally, we must always work on systems that benefits the countries citizens, so we are never in a position where we are just numbers to use and discarded as she explains in North Korea. It is important to note, this is an easily researchable fact, that the top countries to live in in the world (judged by poverty rates, average house income, quality of life, affordability, crime rate, etc) have a mixture of capitalist and socialist policies. They normally are capitalist with socialist policies on things such as education, healthcare, and other government programs. The idea the two cannot exist in harmony is proven to be false by so many countries. As well, there has been unfortunately horrible dictatorships in capitalist societies. At the end of the day, one can abuse any system (ism) for their own agenda. Capitalism and socialism are not exempt from being used to abuse citizens.

To further illustrate what Yeonmi said: my father was a lawyer, but when the communists came in, they took his law degree and said "You will now paint train cars." If he had refused, he would have been shot or taken to prison. He had 2 siblings: 1 also left, another stayed. The life of the 1 who stayed was very different from the 2 who left. I can't imagine the regret of those who choose to move to such a place and live under such oppression. Why would you idealize a place that does not allow anyone to leave??

I'll never understand this mindset, it's like sitting outside a prison, in your BMW going, "Gee, I sure do wish I could be in prison!". People risk their lives, their families lives, just to have a CHANCE here, a country we're free to leave anytime we'd like. It's just so bizarre. Have they ever spoken to an immigrant here??? I digress though, if they hate America, I'd rather they leave than continue destroying it. N. Korea, China, Cuba, Venezuela, etc etc, let them go

I only came across your videos a month or two ago and it's such a pleasure to hear you speak about your experiences. The honesty is so wonderful. And your English is amazing! I assume you couldn't start to learn English until you made it to South Korea, but maybe before that? I may learn this from your book or other videos, but I'd love to know how you learned English so well and what seems like a really fast pace.

I feel compassion that you suffered greatly in North Korea and I do welcome you to USA. I also thank you for sharing your experiences. Yes, in America we have way more freedoms. I feel there should be a balance between capitalism and extreme socialism (communism). For example, we should be able to teach our own children if we choose as long as they know the basics: math, English, History and Science. We should be able to have rain barrels and there are town or communities that forbid this because of the Water Companies. Our huge businesses rule the country. China is not a pure communist state anymore but tyrannical and North Korea is like America was 100 years ago when the common people or majority barely scraped a living. I had a Chinese roommate who has a green card to work as a professor in the University I worked. I got an earful of info. America is not totally free but yes, I would not want to live anywhere else, may Canada. Korea is an extreme tryannical government. In the 60's there were hippie communes and the people that governed the communes got the better food, clothes and shelter, they were not take care of. I agree Communism doesn't work. Russia, China, North Korea, Cuba, North Vietnam for examples, overnight became Communist. Should be a balance. I have lived through different presidents for many decades and I realize you only have been here for a while. I appreciate your comments but I think you need to look into the large corporations who pay $$$ to government officials to pass laws that benefit them and corporation lobbyists who horse trade (negotiation to get bills passed for corporations to pay 0.00 taxes). Yes, we have it good in comparison to Korea, you are right, however, since we have more freedoms, like freedom of speech to critically challenge the corruption in our government that is supposed to serve the people. Since I pay taxes, I deserve help getting on feet during the pandemic and so do others. If we don't get paid a fair wage and huge corporations do not pay taxes, our economic health is at peril.

Using a covid flag for China is a bit disrespectful, no? As a lifetime American, I respect and can understand your position. You can recognize the oppression (no matter how it may pale in comparison when holding it against the most extreme regime in the world) and want to improve your own country, while acknowledging privilege and freedom. The extremism and nationalism isn't healthy in ANY country.

I feel extremely offended even though I am still Chinese now and I don't even like China and I wanna emigrate from that place. Probably China mistreated her during her flee out of North Korea and I can understand her hatred against China which is almost so much as that against North Korea. But dissing China's flag does not solve anything except that she supports the Trumpist "China created the virus" theoretic. She can talk sh!t about China but please just list facts instead of portraying that flag which carries a pejorative and offensive connotation.

I think they mean independent financial freedom where you are the boss or own the business, or where someone has saved money and can spend it as they please etc. there’s a lot of people hanging on by a thread in this country too. And homelessness can happen to ANYONE. Not just addicts, not just criminals, not just “ lazy people” but anyone. And once they realize that fact maybe they will actually start to help more.

*Calling Out This Grift : She Is Such A Shameless Grifter Making Shit Up For Cash* Park is a prime example of how easy it is to profit off the dissemination of utter bullshit. Massive grifter, it's obvious to anyone with a brain that it's ridiculously embellished, she reports on recent rumors about NK as if they're true, like she's supposed to somehow have more info than the rest of us. She lost the opportunity here in south korea to milk it up, so she moved to the west where people are more naive on the issues and facts about north korea. i feel like she stands to benefit maybe 20 more years because of most peoples ignorance, ability to lap up info being fed to them without critical thinking/research and look into criticisms of her. the American right-wing sector will also continue to prop her up, so she'll be around for awhile. She has been paid and she is still getting paid... she is also on record lying and changing her story to be more horrific!!! go back to her first story and you hear none of the horror and atrocity's!!! she lies for money, got to her channel and listen, she is a complete fraud and a true grifter!!! She got paid to say all this. The more crazy the story the more money and attention she gets. She has duped so many, making a killing with her performances on her tale telling, not to mention her book, because the gullible masses allow themselves to be so brainwashed beyond redemption! They are DANCING INTO THE TUNE OF THIS WOMAN. It's natural for people to be less critical about "facts" when those facts align with what they already believe, everyone believes the DPRK is some horrible hellsite. They keep believing in imperialist lies, setting themself up to dislike a country due to what their government tells them. It's often not a conscious decision. They genuinely buy into this narrative. People like a good story and are willing to believe anything that confirms their own bias towards a nation and its people. There is no way in hell they even cares enough to dig into the intricacies of western propaganda and historical revisionism, especially propaganda campaigns as comprehensive as this one, much less to do all that research and then intentionally lie in order to perpetuate it for "no apparent reason." Well she is an official liar. + It's sad that half you all are blind eyes, deaf ears, and muted mouths on her lying antic's. | She's not a "brave" female like how you all thinks she is. | Just keep falling for those tricks she's putting on you all and one day/some day it'll backfire.
