Brandi Carlile is, in my opinion, a true genius. She’s so purely, naturally gifted in so many areas. Her instincts - in music and in life, are breathtaking. So proud of all she contributes to this world.

It’s unfortunate how severely phones and things can affect your ability to concentrate. I definitely noticed a decrease over the years. I use to read books a day and honestly I haven’t read one in ages. I need to do some shopping at a local book store as I want so badly to get back into reading.

Ragamuffin Gospel and Velvet Elvis are some of my absolute faves, I discovered them in college when I was beginning to unwind my way out of fundamentalism and evangelicalism. Untamed is my guide now as an LGBTQ divinity student. I always loved Brandi's music, but her book taste makes me wanna know her as a person and I can't wait to read her book.

Geez.... There are so many great books out there. Joe Abercrombie and Brian Mcclellan are fantastic dark fantasy writers. Truly a great time for Grim-dark and Flintlock fantasy. I love the southern gothics of Michael McDowell. Shout out to Brandi.... Love love love her tunes and hope to catch her and the twins this summer somewhere. I can't wait to get out to some shows again. Also, so many hard working guys and gals who work on the road crews have been devistated financially by this pandemic. I really hope that we can get things under control so these folks can get back to doing what they do. Hope to see y'all soon Ms. Brandi. Peace and much love to y'all.

Love this! Thanks you! With all the political books aways being highlighted on this show, this is a total breath of fresh air and would love to see it done more often 😁 It'd be awesome to have one focused on indie and small press authors, though - especially bipoc and lgbt+ indie/small press authors as they have the hardest time. Getting to see one of my fellow indie/small press authors get a shout-out and a chance to succeed big time would be awesome. 😁

A songwriter/storyteller as good as Brandi HAS to be an avid reader. There just is no way around that fact. And this segment is proof of that fact. (as opposed to say, John Cena, who is so obviously such a stranger to the printed word that he had to read book names off of his cellphone).
@FrankieXanthus
@FrankieXanthus 2 жыл бұрын
I mean he can't be a total stranger, he's written at least two books. They are very popular at my library. Also, there is nothing wrong with referring to a list and it feels a bit abelist to suggest there is. As someone with ADHD who has a difficult time recalling detailed information and especially poor short-term memory, if I was recording a clip like this I'd also have to refer to my notes---and I'm a librarian. I'd probably just do a better job of hiding it. I'd list my notes on a sheet of paper right behind or below the camera so you couldn't tell I was looking at them, while still being able to remind myself which books I wanted to talk about.

Oh, honey, if you loved Educated so much, maybe actually read it for the content. Westover has multiple siblings with PhDs, some of which got theirs BEFORE her. Her family owns one of the largest essential oil businesses in the world, and many of the stories have been refuted or are flat-out lies. The book is a mish-mash of poverty- and trauma-porn, and leaves out so many details that would have made it make sense, just to make Westover's story more dramatic than it actually was. Do better, really.
