currently building my registry and the overwhelm is REAL. Thankful for this. I think people overhype how much babies cost/ how much you need. Obviously taking care of a child will require more time and money but these videos show that its not impossible or way out of reach!
@MissDarknSpooky21 күн бұрын
I think how much a kiddo cost depends on the kiddo. The most expensive thing looking back was special formula, that stuff was expensive. I don't regret buying it, because my kiddo is happy and healthy and alive but gosh was it a bank breaker.

We used our basic target diaper bag for 3 yrs with our first, and now are using it with our second. I have reflux kids so having multiple outfits and burp cloths on hand, plus diapers etc was a must have for us. Once my first got older it became his toy/coloring bag for going out, and a change of clothes once potty training. For anyone on the fence about items, you don’t need the bougie brands especially since your baby may not like a certain swing, lounger, etc. Ingenuity brand from Walmart, Graco etc all work great.

I always hear parents talking about how bad their diaper pails smell. Just gonna say that for my bathroom, I have this small plastic $5-10 store brand trash can (with a lid) from Walmart that my family uses for flushable wipes (you all can probably guess what they're for) and it has never once smelled! It was one of my biggest fears when I first got it, but nope it's all good! And we take it out only once a week

Cozy blanket, bottle water heater, bibs and sound machine, Frida baby nose sucker non electric is perfect, better than electric because you can use the amount of force you need while using it, electric one just doesn’t really rwach (straBaby did not really like pacifiers. Baby bassinet with wheels or that swivels for sleeping in our bedroom during cold winter nights & newborn phase. Baby carrier after 4 months is great, Baby activity center sitter after 6 months and decluttering for sure helps a lot with peace of mind.

Just my advice is you are an outdoorsy person, two strollers is definitely needed. Strollers that are hardy enough for things like hiking are not very good for going through a store/dr office. 😂 I can’t tell you how many times I got my jogging/hiking stroller stuck in a store or knocked things down with it!

Currently pregnant with my first and due in April next year (a ways to go!) but trying to get our registry done early (especially with black Friday/Christmas coming up in the next few months) and it is SO overwhelming! I have to keep taking breaks haha 😅 A question for you regarding the stroller and car seat - my husband and I are looking to get the Uppababy Vista and wondered if you found the ability to attach the car seat to the stroller handy? We're debating between getting an Uppababy infant car seat for this or going with a different car seat that grows with baby but doesn't attach to the stroller.

I’m so glad I watched this video, because the thumbnail kind of annoyed me 😅 I found silverettes and a baby carrier so unnecessary, but 20 months in I still use a good sized nappy bag almost every time we leave the house. Especially with a toddler, because you need to have snacks and toys on hand 😅 I love that the direction of the video is more about what you personally liked/disliked and why. It’s always good to hear different perspectives, because there are truly so few “absolute must haves” for every single parent!

Thank you for posting Michelle! Just wanted to add if it’s helpful for anyone, another con to the Nanit monitor - I am a nanny and used this for a family. I loved being able to have it on my phone, BUT one time after leaving for the day, no matter how many times I closed the app or turned my phone on and off again, I could still hear the noises from it (in live time of their room!!) so creepy!! I obviously told them right away and the dad fixed it, but definitely do not recommend this baby monitor even though it is convenient.

Our baby wouldn't take a bottle when she was really little, which was tough. I don't think I would have gotten through it without the Brest Friend nursing pillow. Just a general question to the mamas out there: do parents just not use the regular no-camera baby monitors anymore?? It seems like everyone only ever uses camera monitors but what happened to the traditional ones like we had growing up that are just a little walkie-talkie-looking speaker where baby has one and parent takes the other with them. Is there a reason people don’t use them as much anymore? The camera ones kind of creep me out ngl but let me know how you all like them, I am very curious! (I’m not a mom yet but thinking ahead to the future)
@katiex077 ай бұрын
The video gives me so much peace of mind. We do a non-wifi one because I definitely don’t want wifi, but I like to be able to see my little one. It definitely helps ease some anxiety. Like if she’s silent all night- is she sleeping through the night, or is she gone? No way to know unless I go in her room and disturb her by opening the door. And with just noise, I would assume she’s wide awake ready to go when I hear her but she’s not always. Sometimes she’s just talking herself back to sleep. With the video, I’ll see if she’s laying down trying to fall back asleep or if she’s standing in her crib ready to get up. Without the video I wouldn’t know and would probably go in to get her at times when she’s actually going back to sleep.
@annakaren99927 ай бұрын
I think the walkie talkie ones are good if you are only going to check on baby if they cry or make noise, but I personally also wanted to be able to see that my baby was breathing 🫣 so I went with the momcozy monitor that has a great camera
@SkyaStanley7 ай бұрын
Yes! I only do the sound monitor. Honestly, a monitor is definitely not a must have. Baby usually stays in the same room as mom and dad in the first few months/year, and even after that, if they cry, you can usually hear them! Do whatever works for your family.

My daughter just turned one and we've used her diaper backpack one time out and about. We leave it in the car now "just in case" but we never use it. Same with her changing table. We used the portable pads from when she was first born and we still find those so much more convenient then having a designated spot for it. Everyone's living situation and baby is different, great advice though!
