Clippers will always be the best lighters, at least for smokers. The fact I can collect the designs and reuse them is one thing, but that removable tool is perfect for packing down bowls or joints. Not to mention the flint.. it’s everything you want from a professional lighter that you plan to keep with you forever but still cheap enough to throw out and replace in a second
@stoojona14023 жыл бұрын
The collectable aspect along with the tool do make them an essential part of a stoners toolkit, no doubt! Only bad point is that they tend to go missing. A lot. And the cooler or rarer the design the higher the chance of them accidentally on purpose ending up in one of your mate's pockets by the end of the evening right?! Haha! We have all had it happen to us at some point and we've all 'accidentally' done it ourselves... it's the curse of the clipper, the stoner's affliction 😉😂😂😂🤘

A clipper actually fits perfectly inside of a 410 shell casing! My friends and I would scour the farmers fields looking for different ones so we could personalise our clippers when I was about 13 maybe 14 yrs old. I would burn a hole in the casing and attach a small metal ring to it, then make a rope for it so I could hang it round my neck so nobody could 'accidentally' pocket it. Looked pretty dope too, well for a 14 year old metal head anyway, haha!

No matter how big a butane bottle I used or how new it was I could only get any lighter to fill about less than half. I finally found out that right before you refill a lighter you have to push the fill valve down to release the gas pressure left in the lighter . Then your lighter will fill completely up. @@mikepants35 Maybe some of them. Ace brand disposables are from Zippo, king brand are from scripto. Most of the other brands that I have double checked are from scripto. Needless to say, a standard bic lighter is far superior any of the seethrough plastic versions. Not just because they don't break as much, and are longer lasting. But because you can use just some car keys to easily pop out the child safety feature. The transparent lighters use a double wheel system for safety that always is more annoying.

Awesome review, I love Clippers. Just a small tip, you should not shake your butane canister. You want the butane to settle to the bottom, you don't want the propellant to mix with the butane when you refill. Turn it upside down, wait a second and fill.
@stinkycheese8043 ай бұрын
It makes very little difference, shaken or not, because it takes a second to turn it upside down and put on the lighter so by then, the liquid is at the bottom and any mixed with air, will unmix long before you've emptied the can much. SO, don't shake them because there's no purpose in doing so.

Clippers are great for all the reasons you mention and my go-to lighter for EDC, I smoke so always have at least one on me. Also they come in smaller sizes (at least here in the UK) and these are great for keeping in coin pockets if you want to go ultralight, or for throwing in pouches and bags as backups if you are hiking or camping. Having said that, the best type of lighter to have in a survival kit, which you don't use and save for emergencies, is the Bic, because these are filled up in a factory under pressure and sealed and hold far much more gas than you can get in any refillable lighter. I had a full size Bic which I used every day a lot and it lasted me over 6 months.

I have an $8 fuel bottle (maybe 1.5x the size of your bottle there) and have refilled my clipper (and other lighters but clipper is my EDC) at least 15 times and there is still about half the can left. It really is great. I love that you got the point about how when you light a bowl it gives you a bit of extra flame AND the star shaped wheel!
@cmdann8 Жыл бұрын
Idk if that was an intended design, but just gravity and liquid being pushed out instead of gas, so you have more butane, as seen by big flame. I'd be care smoking like that thought. Butane ain't good to inhale. And you do inhale it quite frequently.

Now the 2 of us is gona by clippers so we can refuel them. Bic can also be refueled but BUT theres like a small plastic ball that you press in from the lighters bottom side. The fact that you can refill this lighter is great. The only problem with the clippers compared to bic is that they do not always ignight from the first time. Sometimes you need to try three or four times before you get a fire. Bic always works from the first time. If you remove the safety cap from bic, which is easly done, you also do not need to press so hard to get it going.

But yeah, they have a few benefits over BIC, started more as rolling lighters, the edge coming ovff to put your paper on, the spark wheel coming out to use as a tamp, made initially for people who roll their own smokes of any kind. But they also can be beneficial in wilderness, as the removeable spark wheel, is good when you just need a spark but not a light.

I remember when those lighters first hit the market in the 90s. I was a Jr or Sr in high school, and an avid weed smoker. My buddies and I loved those things. And with the milage we put on them they got refilled and flints changed allot.

Watched this last year. I came back to remember which part I could pull out. It was the flint. Thought it was the button. Now I know. I was wrong at first but I came back, rewatched the video! Now I'm correct about WHICH PART can be removed. When I'm out and about, I can use my lighter with confidence. Not one person can tell me I'm bad at operating a Clipper lighter. Knowledge is power.

I did know they were refillable (and have refilled them), but had wondered what would be when the flint was gone. Now, I know it's easy as pie as well, so that's nice to know. I've got a whole stack of BICs from finding them by the roadside. I repair the still fueled ones, too, and just for fun, but I prefer the Clippers, they feel a bit more durable than standard gas station BICs, and the cylinder shape feels better in pocket IMO. It's also cool that they bring out new print series for the shells constantly. Recently I saw animal pattern prints and bought 2 of them, tiger and leopard

I bought a twin pack of clippers from Walmart a while back. After I got them out of the package I noticed that one of them was empty...I saw just a few little rough marks on the buttom as well. Instead of returning it I got a sudden gut instinct and tried fiddling with the buttom seal cap... And sure enough it came loose, revealing an airtight stash compartment. The container proved to be perfectly suited for the job.

Wow i remember you from a long time ago cutlerylover! Just a lurker here but I used to watch your knife videos! I am a knife guy originally then life happened and i got into weed which is cool but i got rid of a bunch of great knives i used to have to feed the weed habit and get through life. I still have a custom strider smf with nightmare grind, an Emerson and a Fallkniven F1 pro. I miss a lot of knives that i cannot get anymore though. Glad to hear you mention gus, may he rest in peace i remember him fondly from your old videos. I like these clippers but i like Bic more still.

I once had a clipper lighter that had a metal button that you hold down for gas to come out and the flint stem that is plastic was also metal!!! And you could adjust the flame size by a slide thing on the front!!! It is the only one of the type I have ever seen ! It was mustard in colour and looked the same as any other clipper ! This was back in the late 1980s and belonged to my dad and I borrowed it for the night and lost it !!!! I have looked for years and never found another or anyone who has seen one !!!

I remember the ones where you could adjust the flame, I can’t remember exactly when but guessing mid 70’s in UK.

I love clippers. Have all sorts. I have a few that I have even collected from the street grounds that were dried up. Took them inside, cleaned them up, filled them with gas and are still kicking.

The longer flame when tipping it over is dependent on the length of the tube that leads to the outlet. If it almost reaches the bottom then, when upright, there is liquid being forced most of the way up the outlet tube. When tipped over, only the vapor is able to enter the outlet tube which can be accelerated faster by the pressure in the lighter.

Clippers are a great all round utility lighter, if you are a smoker, these are what you want in most cases, they can be very reliable, occasionally the fill valve will fail but I've got a clear clipper here that's over a year old, may occasionally need to stretch the flint spring but other than that. I find the best way to light things like candles is to place the base of the lighter against the heel of your hand and use your index to light it, extend your reach so it doesn't burn you, also works well if you're needing a new flint but you still have a weak spark.
