BIC released a new Lighter this year called the EZ Reach. It's similar to their regular bulletproof lighter but with a longer neck that makes it much easier to use with gloves and in different directions. The extra inch of flame separation between gas tank and business end is a welcome addition for all concerns, foreign and domestic.

I have zippos,clippers,arc lighters,regular bics and these. I find myself using these wayyyyy more then my zippos. They just work so well for me. They are awesome little lighters.

1:10 It’s called a piezo igniter. Really cool ignition system that creates a electric spark from crystals without a battery.

They use what is called piezoelectric ignition, a striker strikers a tiny crystal which, because of science, creates a momentary electric discharge in the form of a spark.

Thank you!! I couldn’t light the EZ Reach Bic till I watched your video.🙄Duh… I wasn’t pressing straight down on the top, but was trying to flick it down like the original Bic. I felt like such a buffoon once I saw how easy it was!😳🤣Thanks again!👍👍

The problem is that it does not make sense unless you already know how to use it. Of course then it's easy.

Thanks for showing these new lighters. I will look for them next time I shop. I burned my thumb while using an ordinary BIC lighter on shrink tubing two hours before watching this video.

used my torch lighter on shrink tubing when fixing a cut wire on one of my bbq burner igniter worked fast and good

Crocs Handy Lighter is like, "Yo, what am I, chopped liver?" I used to get the Crocs "Handy" at Dollar Tree long before this EZ Reach came out.

I prefer orange as well although blue is also easy to see if dropped in the woods (there's very little that's blue in nature). I rarely leave home without a lighter in my pocket especially in the woods.

blue is easier to blend in the grass and leaves and sticks etc get the yellow or orange

That lighter has a small quarts crystal that when compressed generates an electric current.this happens when you press on that button to strike and generate a small voltage to make a spark.

wondering if you've heard of the Soto Pocket Torch XT and if so your opinions on it. Bought an EZ Reach but was looking at that for a survival kit too. The Soto is refillable, there's also a non-extendable version that can take disposable non-Bic lighters for fuel.

ohh i had no idea about the color being a wrapper you could peel off that is not the case for the regular lighters and i hope that does not change, i like getting the mini green one like you got there once in a while as a carry lighter but i recently got this X-lite lighter about the same shape and size of a reg bic lighter only these ones got the turbo torch also with piezo and refillable which is a bonus for only $1.75 canadian and it is the most windproof lighter i ever had i can actually blow hard on it while still getting it to light and you can shake it hard and it still stays lit and has a red flame but that wears off eventually into a blue flame the first one i got was gray colored and i had to crack it open to adjust the flame stronger as i did not like the factory setting, it worked good for a while then the flame started going low again and i think it was the metal lever that opens the gas valve that might have gotten bent out of shape and after fooling around with it again it started crapping out but i bought two new ones a blue and cool looking black one when i tried them out they did not seem to have a strong flame but i was gonna fix them anyways as expected but when i tried them later on the flames on both to my surprise either got stronger or where already to my licking for some reason did not appear that way in the store anyways im keeping the black one as part of my collection and the blue one to use so far so good will have to see if they pass the test of time still use the grey one as there is some fuel left in it although the flame is weak and dies out if left too long but i recommend getting one as they are much better and cheaper than bics and refillable is a plus

found a green one of those on the floor of my elevator and my mom was like it probably don't work or out of gas told her let's have a look, sure enough it still had plenty of gas and worked fine i guess it must have fell and a lucky find for me, yes it has a piezo ignition also idk what that small hole at the base of the chimney is but there is a circular metal cutout there which seems to press down with a pointed object to bad they are not refillable but thats bic for ya unless it's there bbq wand lighters

Best feature would be the easy ability to REFILL THE DARNED THINGS. Another MISSING feature is a flame adjuster.

@@ARCSTREAMS Yep, they did have a flame adjuster. If you watch any of the ole concerts where people would light their BIC's, you can easily see a 6" flame on many of them. Now, you cannot adjust it to what you want. 1" flame is insufficient to light some pilot lights.

I like the Bic ez reach but I dont like that the Bic is not refillable I've switched over to using alot of USB rechargeable x arching lighters in my shop especially for lighting things like Map Gas n Propane it works way better than a lighter or old school sparker

I have a couple Zippos, but for my outdoor/EDC/Survival needs, I've found they dry out too fast and are sensitive to water. They are the most fun though.

the torch gun you have or any other torch lighter all have the same pressure in there tanks as any lighters even the soft flame bic lighters the difference is in the flame nozzle it has and nothing to do with having a higher psi tank they are special nozzles that blend the butane gas with the surrounding air to get a more complete stronger blue flame i got a few of those torch lighters as well as the xlite turbo flame i told you about and all of them have a drilled hole in there sides that sucks in surrounding air and mix it with the butane gas and it sounds like a blowtorch and of course has a higher 2500degF temperature flame than your regular soft flame lighters

I strongly dislike this lighter because I cannot depress it! I am a woman with small hands, and it is really hard to depress the "trigger" to the point that the flame is produced. Very an annoying that this "child proofing" is built in - I DO NOT HAVE A CHILD! I wish they would stop with the default child proofing: many people don't have kids (me), and for those that do, it teaches children to not pay attention, no mental discipline. If they are taught to take care then they do.
