Love the review! I’ve had several e-bikes over the years all Pedego and have no complaints they each serve there purpose. This bike takes it to a whole new level! I am blown away by the quality and performance. I really just wanted to remind everyone that the fat tire pressure range is from 10psi to 20psi LET SOME AIR OUT on bumpy or sandy or gravely terrain. This does wonders for the no rear shock issue and increases traction by a lot. Just like rock crawling in a jeep less air easier on the rig and better traction. Remember to carry a pump to re inflate when returning to long term pavement riding. Hope this was useful. Enjoy this amazing bike!

I just got mine today, put it together and thought I'd take it for a short ride around the block. I ended up taking it for a much longer ride because it's SO FUN. The bike has exceeded whatever expectations I had imagined. Again, I'm 6'5" and weigh over 335 lbs. The large, stepover bike fits me perfectly. I'm looking forward to commuting to work on this. I'm going to throw e-cycling to work in with lifting weights at the gym and swimming three times a week. I'm a fan. If you're on the fence go take a test drive.

I really enjoyed your review. I watched 2 reviews previous to yours, and neither one mentioned that the PAS levels had been eliminated. So when they were going through the different modes such as eco and trail, I was confused because there was no mention of what PAS they were in. I have a question about the size of the step through frame compared to the bike in your review (let's call it a step over). I am the same height and weight as you. 6 1, 200 pounds. I want a large frame. Is the step over a larger frame than the step through? Yes I know it's has a bar and it requires you to throw your leg over, but that doesn't necessarily make it a bigger frame, right? I'm talking about while riding the bike. Is the frame of the bike with the top bar larger than the step through. I want the same fit in the step through that I would get on the bike without the step through. You've ridden both. Are they both the same size from a riding and comfort level? So many words. Sorry. It was hard to explain. Thank you! I'm 63.and had hip replacement in April so I prefer step through. But I won't get it if it's a smaller fit

I love the torque sensor on my e-bike. The thing you must keep in mind when buying a torque sensor e-bike is the gear ratios the bike comes with. If the bike ghost peddles easily that will result in low speed. No torque on the peddles, no e-assist. My e-bike came with a 42T chainring with a 14-28T freewheel and I was ghost peddling around 20 mph while the e-assist could go up to 28 mph. I changed out the gear to a 52T chainring with a 11-34T freewheel and now it pulls hard all the way up to 28 mph no problem. Ghost peddling is a thing of the past. My e-bike is SO much more enjoyable to ride now.
@ALLElectricChannel11 ай бұрын
Wow thanks for sharing
@escheidl11 ай бұрын
@@ALLElectricChannel Of course! This is something anyone interested in a torque sensor e-bike needs to know. It's easily overlooked, especially with first time torque sensor buyers because you "assume" the manufacturer knows what they're doing. But this is far from the case with many. I'm actually very surprised this isn't talked about more. It doesn't cost any more to put the correct gears in than to sell them with the wrong gears. Yet many torque sensor e-bikes sold have gearing that leads to very early ghost pedaling and much frustration for the rider due to not getting any assist while ghost pedaling. Not a problem so much for the cadence sensor e-bikes because all you have to do is rotate the pedals and you're going to get assist up to your 28 mph cut-off regardless. So be sure to do your homework before buying an e-bike with a torque sensor. Having said that though, a properly geared torque sensor e-bike that pulls in every gear up to the limit has far more control and a higher level of satisfaction than a cadence sensor e-bike, especially one that ghost pedals early. Because then you're just along for the ride. But many are okay with that. I personally just wanted more.

Great review, thank you! Can someone help explain the shifter gears for me? What purpose would say shifting into an "8" be needed vs a "4"? And would those pedal assist modes have much factor when combined with what gear you are in?
@ALLElectricChannel Жыл бұрын
the pedal assist on the Aventure 2 is very natural because of the torque sensor compared to the first model (cadence sensor). When you are in a low gear "4" (easy to pedal) you can get more revolutions with the pedal and its great for climbing a hill. When you go to "8" (hard to pedal) its great for a flat road when you want to go fast. When you go up in the pedal assist level (more assist) it allows more power to go to the motor. So if you were on a flat road in gear 1 and pedal assist "turbo"; the bike would go very fast with minimal/no effort. In contrast, if you were in gear 8 and pedal assist "eco" (lowest level); you would get some assist, but it would be hard to pedal the bike. ....I hope that makes sense and doesn't confuse you more. Sorry my video wasn't clear about this.

I have the first Aventure with the cadence sensor and each PAS level caps at a certain speed. Does the same thing happen with the 2.0 version? If so, what are the speeds where assist stops helping? Also, can the bike be easily changed from a level 2, 20 MPH to level 3, 28 MPH like the original?
@NathanSikes01 Жыл бұрын
I have a Pace 350.2 and the new Aventure.2 so I understand what you are talking about here. On the Aventure.2 I use PAS level 2 (touring) and the motor works well up to gear 5 out of 8. Using Level 4 I. PAS (turbo) the motor contributes through all the gears. I liken the torque sensor to manual transmission in a car; work your way up through the gears for the motor to fully engage with pedaling. You'll find that you may not hit gear 8 that often. Yes, the bike can be changed from class 2 to class 3 easily; however, this is one of my complaints about the bike. You have to use the Aventon app on your phone to "raise" the speed limit. Poor design as this should be independent from the phone app. And you cannot use class 3 on throttle assist as it will top out ~20mph. Another flaw in the design I feel.
@mikebryant538 Жыл бұрын
@@NathanSikes01 I think I had to use the app to change from class 2 to 3 on my 1.0 Aventure. I expect they can't make it too easy otherwise the regulators wouldn't let them say the bike as Class 2. So, say you start riding the bike in a high gear and you're pressing hard on the pedal since you aren't moving very fast. Does the motor help you or are you forced to downshift before it adds anything? In the case of the cadence sensor, it doesn't add much power since the crank isn't turning, I'd hope the torque sensor works differently.
@NathanSikes01 Жыл бұрын
@@mikebryant538 I just went out on my aventure.2 and found that in the lowest PAS, ECO mode, the motor can be engaged at gear 6 and easily felt as you do your second down stroke. The motor in Gear 7 was not felt starting in ECO mode. In the next level up in PAS, Tour mode, Gear 7 engaged the motor immediately. I tried gear 8 in Sport mode and it engaged the motor immediately as well. It was surprising how fast the bike got up to speed starting out in a high gear; however, I refrain to do so because I need to treat my knees well and not overdo them. Hence, I usually start at gear 3 and work my way up. I typically use the Tour mode in PAS for my biking and go 20 miles on 30-35% battery. Note that the battery level is like a car's gas tank and will run miles at 100% before starting to come down on its guaged value. Hope all this helps.
@mikebryant538 Жыл бұрын
@@NathanSikes01 Thanks for the feedback! With my cadence sensor, I often use the throttle to get started if I'm in a higher gear. Sounds like that needs to be done as well if in ECO mode with the torque sensor. Interesting.

@@snowmadic635 did a test ride on the regular frame (step-over) and it was perfect for me. Got the full leg extension without any issues, while maintaining a decent upright posture. There was also extra room in case I needed to raise the height of the seat if needed. The large frame is essentially the same exact frame as the regular, however, the stem of the frame that supports the seat post is just a tad bit higher on the large frame. So, in reality unless you're in the 6'2+ I'd think the regular frame will do the job. The bike is massive, not in terms of weight (assuming those who complain have never exerted themselves physically lol) but in terms of how it presents itself. I don’t think that’s correct. I’ve tested a dual suspension ebike with a torque sensor

Looks like this is the industry leader when it comes to making e-bikes with UL standard batteries.
@ALLElectricChannel Жыл бұрын
Aventon does make really good ebikes. I think they are leading at this price point, but there are plenty of ebikes in the $4,000+ range that are "better". You're getting a lot for the price with Aventon.

I have the step through and the rear was making a noise also. My husband realized it was the Velcro chain slap guard. It had slid forward and the corner was flapping just enough to make noise. He slid it back and problem solved.

Is your bike the large frame they offer?
@ALLElectricChannel Жыл бұрын
Yes
@jfly2249 Жыл бұрын
Frame is prone to pedal strikes and it has a comparatively small battery.
@WolfsToob Жыл бұрын
The frame isn’t the issue, it’s the length of the crank arms that come with it. I just replaced mine with shorter 152mm crank arms (got some for $25 bucks on Amazon), and no more pedal strikes.

This is the large, so maybe not. But yes if you got the step-through version.

Just be careful with making the bike stand too upright on the kickstand. A gust of wind from the left side can more easily blow it over.

I know the bikes aren’t exactly comparable, but in Australia the Giant Talon E is the exact same price as this. Would you say the Giant is the better bike, if one was okay with the tyre setup on either of them?

I feel like Step thrus is better for all riders. Especially for these types of bikes where maximum frame stiffness is not a factor.

Thats a good point, but I do like the style/look for the regular vs. step through

@@ALLElectricChannel agree, I think the step over model looks better too. I'll always see any step through bike as the "girls version." I can't help it.

Solid bike, fast, comfortable, and all that. The speed control is garbage. Its basically an ON/OFF switch. Select the power level, start pedaling and after about 2 seconds, the power engages and slowly builds up to max. The thumb "throttle" is the same, just a switch. It's a huge disappointment at $1800
@18andlikeit Жыл бұрын
Sounds like you're talking about the original version, which has a cadence sensor. The Aventure 2 has a torque sensor, which pretty much eliminates the "on/off" power feeling.
@WolfsToob Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think you are talking about the original version. I have an Aventure.2, and it has a torque sensor which engages the moment I start to pedal. The thumb throttle is also a variable switch, so you can use your thumb to give it a full gradient of power. The more you push the switch, the more power/speed you get out of the motor.

Why is the step-through version often only recommended for shorter riders or women? This is such a silly leftover from the days when they were called “women’s” bikes (vs “men’s” bikes for the step-over version). Anyone who will ever want to use the rear rack to its capacity should only look at the step-through version! Why? Because, no matter how tall you are, once you pile a crate full of stuff, high up on top of the rear rack, good luck “stepping over” your heavy, loaded up “men’s” (I mean step-over 😋) bike!
@ALLElectricChannel26 күн бұрын
some good points, but for me (i'm tall enough) I can step over the center bar and mount the bike without leaning the bike over so when the rear rack is loaded down I'm not disturbing the cargo or unbalancing the ebike.
@flyaway319 Жыл бұрын
So let me make sure i'm clear, approx. every 2yrs you will need to purchase a new battery? $500
@ALLElectricChannel Жыл бұрын
No, why would you need a new battery?
@anthonycentrella6454 Жыл бұрын
They only last 2-5yrs. Aventon website: “ After about 1000 charge cycles, around the 2-year mark for a daily ebike user and up to the 5-year mark for infrequent users or “weekend warriors”, you'll notice that the battery won't fully charge. This is a natural part of the lifecycle of all lithium-ion batteries.”
