And depending how hot they make shaggy and Velma (they will probably make them hot) I expect at least one weird sex scene. Get ready internet, cause if “Velma” pissed everyone off so bad, then I cant imagen what a show like this will do.

Basically they are prioritizing making easy and safe money over producing new, valuable art

“what did you miss in april 2024?” i gotta be honest, i missed all of these 😂 i cannot believe they are making so many remakes and rebooting so many things. i used to watch a lot of movies and shows and care about celebs, but i don’t really care about any of it anymore. that’s why these recap vids can be really enjoyable for me. a really short recap of what i (in the past) would have spent a lot more of my time learning about piece by piece. thx for the quality, concise content!!

I find the discourse of the casting for Juliet hilariously ironic, because a Degrassi episode from 2012 had a plot line about a same-sex version of R&J being contested by a classmate and had a message about acceptance and tolerance. 12 years later it's still a hot button conversation to deviate from the source material 🙄

My favorite thing about brands/companies acting on petty word trademarks like chili crunch is it negates any chance of becoming the name brand synonymous with the item. Ex: uhaul is a brand that we just use to mean moving truck. Kleenex being a brand we use to refer to all tissues. Etc. Speaking of OJ, a trailer for a OJ Simpson biopic was released and Derek Luke is going to play OJ’s lawyer in the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic. More biopic news: Back to Black came out in the UK and Ireland to mixed results, a Chris Farley biopic is in the works, Jeremy Allen White has been cast to play Bruce Springsteen, and a Frank Sinatra biopic is in the works with Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence as Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner respectively.

Scooby-Doo has already been made into a live action movie and it will never be topped. That's just facts. Also they tried to reboot Heroes before and it didn't work. My first thought about the Amy Winehouse movie is that the actress looks and seems too clean-cut. Amy Winehouse had a rougher way of speaking and was often messy looking (not disparaging, it added to her charm). Something about this actress just seems like a soft-spoken lady in a Halloween costume.

People get upset with non-white people appearing in period dramas because they think all of Europe and the Americas was only white people until 1960, with the primary exception being period pieces that effectively double as torture porn. God forbid we see brown people who are happy and successful. These people also seem to think that non-straights and non-cis people just popped into existence in 1970. (These people also seem to think that Shakespearean plays are meant to be serious period dramas. They are not. They are the Disney blockbusters of their time. Also, the only rule in Shakespeare is that you must commit to the bit. You can do whatever you want so long as you COMMIT.) These people also get upset about fictional characters being played by someone whose ancestors were not from the country of origin of the character, even when said character is literally half fish. There's also a big commotion about Snow White (a character from Germanic folklore) being played by a white Latina because...let's see, "she's not pale enough". Although I can't really say I've ever seen people complaining that the cast of any given production of Romeo and Juliet aren't all Italian. Wonder why...
