Have you ever heard of the jobcorps program? Its a program full of different trades, currently getting my carpenters pre-apprenticeship. Its a free program for teens from 16 to 25 year old adults, your live on site like a college campus but its treated like a jobsite, they offer a high-school equivalency/diploma as well as drivers licenses classes and drivers ed, just figured I'd comment about it, new to the channel and I've found your videos super helpful! Thanks for all the info

It’s been a couple months now that I have been OJT and I’ve learned a lot but I’m still only first year so my next video suggestion would be how to read blueprints and visualize what you’re building off of them!

You should have a week of class dedicated to print reading so you can learn. Also whenever your foreman is looking over them around you go take a look and ask questions. The most annoying part is when the blueprints change multiple times throughout the job 😅😅

@Unscripted with Antonio ours works closer to having to work about 1800 hours between each level. Which if you do the math it usually equates to working 10 months doing 8 hour days Monday to Friday, and then 2 months of straight school Monday to Friday, 8am till 4ish (pending on the teacher) at collages. Pros and cons to both i guess. I like how spread out your program is but at the same time I almost prefer getting it done in one shot. There is alternative means and programs that are spread over a longer period of time here for pre-apprentiship courses but those don't always garuntee employment at the end of the course.
@unscriptedwithantonio

@Brennen Peters 2 months of class seems brutal. We only do about a month of class a year. Depending on how the classes land.

Hey i've really liked watching your videos. Something I was wondering, how much pto do you get as a journeyman carpenter? and as an apprentice? I assume the amount you get also depends whether your union or not. I assume Union members probably get more pto, than private contractor companies?

to be complete honest we just started getting sick time. We don't get PTO. We get a vacation fund. (which is around 2500 depending on how much you work). They take about $1.50 every and put in an account for you. But this is how the union does it. I have no idea about the non-union side.
