Spironolactone is the devil. Sorry to be dramatic, but I was on this drug for several years for thinning hair and now I am dealing with severe dry eye disease. It began while I was taking the spiro, but it has become progressively worse even since going off of it (I believe Accutane may have some similar side effects in some patients). I also did not have a noticeable improvement in my hair, although occasional acne was nonexistent (the only positive, and not worth it!). Thanks for this educational video!

Hi@@StephanieHallBurns, Sorry, I only practice in the East Coast, but we do have many patients coming to New York or Virginia from around the country and around the world for the Hair Regeneration treatment. Since it is a non-surgical treatment with little to no recovery time, and in many cases no additional treatment, you don't need an extended stay in the New York or Virginia. Many patients actually get back on the plane or train, or drive back home the same day as treatment, but to be sure you could do this for a flight, I would assess your general health condition first. There are other PRP+ACell treatments available, but we've been doing this treatment the longest and have the most experience, and actually customize it individually for patients. Hi LalaLibre, Sorry to hear about your problem. Generally, smooth bald areas where hair hasn't grown for more than 5 years likely have dead hair follicles, while areas where hair has not grown for less than 5 years are likely dormant. The TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment will only work on thickening existing thinning hair and stimulating growth from dormant follicles, but it cannot revive dead hair follicles. We would also perform a microscopic exam to identify where hair is thinning prior to treatment. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi midna, The TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment is expected to last 3-5 years, or even more after the first treatment. We have treated patients again after year 5 or 6, but their hair and scalp coverage still looked pretty good at the time. Longevity of treatment is more predictable for women, and men with less DHT-sensitivity, as many men refuse to take a DHT-blocker with the treatment, which can affect results, and shorten longevity. Can temporary hair straightening on a regular basis (once a month) for many years kill hair follicles or damage them? Is there a way to restore the follicles if they are dead? If they are just damaged, do I just need to let the hair regrow without doing any more hair straightening?
@AmiyaPrasadMD4 жыл бұрын
Hi chelle snail, Yes, it is possible that constant use of chemical straighteners can damage or kill hair follicles. There is no way of reviving dead hair follicles due to chemical damage or pattern hair loss. However, our TrichoStem Hair Regeneration consistently stimulates growth from dormant hair follicles that are still viable, but not currently growing hair due to pattern hair loss. Hi Alexandra Theis, Sorry to hear about your problem. It is possible to have both telogen effluvium and androgenetic alopecia at the same time. The way we diagnose for female pattern hair loss is by taking scalp biopsies in different areas of the scalp. Was that done by any of your doctors? Keep in mind that telogen effluvium is excessive hair shedding, or 200 or more hair strands shed a day, which requires no treatment; and female pattern hair loss is diffuse thinning of hair throughout the scalp. I hope this helps you.

Since then, I'm having normal hair fall (less than 100 hairs) whenever I wash my hair. I also have dandruff & my hair mineral analysis test shows I'm low in all minerals & vits.. I have fine & straight hair from birth, so I cannot exactly say if my hair is thinning.. But my scalp isn't visible & no widening of part in the middle of the scalp. My doubt is that, will androgenetic alopecia begin with a severe telogen effluvium? It's been 15 years since massiave hair shedding happened. Yet I don't find my old thick hair growing. Is it cos of my low nutrient deficiency that it's struggling to grow?

Hi Nivedha Eee, I answered your question on a different video earlier. Your hair loss may be a symptom of a systemic issue, as you don't sound like you have female pattern hair loss (hair thinning) and telogen effluvium is a temporary hair shedding condition, not one that lasts constantly over years. Hi Bipasa Sarkar, Female pattern hair loss is a genetic issue, and not related to the thyroid or PCOS. I don’t administer PRP alone for hair loss because it has a limited effect on hair, usually just short-term hair growth. Also, the number of sessions needed does vary, and the longevity of results is unpredictable. Hair Regeneration is a PRP combination treatment where PRP is the activator of the main ingredient extracellular matrix by ACell. Hair Regeneration is a one-time treatment for most patients, and can last up to 5 years and beyond, depending on the aggressiveness of the hair loss pattern. Our Hair Regeneration patients can also stop minoxidil, or be weaned off minoxidil to prevent a sudden hair shed. PRP injections for hair loss are needed indefinitely.

@AmiyaPrasadMD3 жыл бұрын
Hi@@milalee3190, I'm not sure what you mean by a hair follicles machine, but dead and dormant hair follicles cannot be differentiated by a microscopic exam as they are underneath the scalp skin, so it can't be confirmed if your follicles are dead are not. Please see the timeline in my previous reply about dead hair follicles.

@AmiyaPrasadMD6 жыл бұрын
Hi Zaryab Khan, It should be fine, but it's best to check with your transplant surgeon as they know the details of your transplant surgery, and can monitor your growth progress. I hope this helps you.

After 40 days, a cap should not affect the growth of your grafts, but you should still follow up with your surgeon to monitor growth and other issues.

Hi Jihane Deni, Sorry to hear about your problem. The patients shown in my videos and websites only had one treatment session which can last 3-5 years, or even more, so it is ideal for patients who are coming in from other countries. We do regular follow-ups as part of your treatment, which we can do through Skype if you are from another country. Some patients with advanced hair loss may get a second treatment, but this is done 15-24 months after the first. Most patients only need one treatment session to get years of benefit. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi Eva Moni, Over 99% of our female pattern hair loss patients are seeing visible improvement in scalp coverage with the TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment featured in the video, and without using minoxidil or spironolactone. @@AmiyaPrasadMD Hi, can I know how much does this triostem treatment cost
@AmiyaPrasadMD4 жыл бұрын
Hi@@ToothtimedentalStudio, The cost of the TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment varies with the extent of treatment needed. Cost of the treatment plan also includes the second booster treatment, if needed in advanced hair loss cases, as well regular follow ups to monitor your progress, either in our offices or through Skype, Facetime or email. At its full cost, TrichoStem Hair Regeneration is priced at about half of a single FUT hair transplant, or about a third of an FUE transplant performed in the US. You can contact our offices or our websites for a price range. Our offices are located in the USA in Manhattan, New York City which you can call at (212) 265-8877; Garden City, Long Island at (516) 742-4636; or Vienna, Virginia at (703) 356-1336. You can also reach us through www.prasadcosmeticsurgery.com, www.nyhairloss.com, or www.trichostem.com by filling out a contact form, and we will get back to you. I hope to hear from you soon.

@AmiyaPrasadMD5 жыл бұрын
Hi akanksha narela, Sorry to hear about your problem. I think you are asking if we have a branch in India. We don't currently offer the treatment in India, but we do have many Indian patients coming to the US for treatment. Since it is a non-surgical treatment with little to no recovery time, and in many cases no additional treatment, you don't need an extended stay in the US. Many patients actually get back on the plane home the same day as treatment, but I don't recommend this for everyone as it is dependent on general health condition and age.Some patients with advanced hair loss may get a second treatment 15-24 months after the first, and results for international patients are monitored through Skype, Facetime, or email follow up. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi doctor I had a baby 9 months ago and 3 months after giving birth my hair started falling and hasn’t stopped. I have noticed significant thinning on top of my head. What scares me is that I’m not sure if this is due to hormonal changes due to childbirth or genetics since both my mother and my father have hair loss. Should my hair loss have returned to normal by now since giving birth? I want to rule out childbirth and want to know wether this is due to genetics or having a baby. Thanks

Hi Kez Kapchuni, Sorry to hear about your problem. Postpartum hair shedding isn't the same as genetic pattern hair loss, as genetic pattern hair loss is hair growing back progressively thinner after it sheds. It is possible to have both conditions concurrently. Postpartum hair shedding is temporary condition until hormone levels normalize. The best way to confirm female pattern hair loss is through scalp biopsies, and it is more difficult to diagnose than male pattern hair loss. I hope this helps you.

@AmiyaPrasadMD4 жыл бұрын
Hi MD. MIFTAHUL ISLAM RAFI, It is normal to shed 50-100 hairs a day, and they do grow back. Pattern hair loss happens when the shed hair grows back thinner, and/or there is a delay in regrowth. You are likely too young to have pattern hair loss, but if you are worried about it, you need to see a doctor for a proper diagnosis. Female pattern hair loss requires scalp biopsies to confirm. I hope this clarifies things you.

Re: females only, re: trichostem how often do you need to do these treatments? And if done at the recommended intervals can you maintain the results indefinitely?
@AmiyaPrasadMD6 жыл бұрын
Hi hammypie, Most patients only need one treatment session, and all patients shown in my videos and websites only had one treatment session with the Hair Regeneration treatment, which can last 3-5 years, or even more. Some patients get a second treatment at 15-24 months after the first treatment. It's important to note that pattern hair loss is hardwired into your genetics, so it's managed, can it can't be cured. We can do everything we can to keep as much hair as possible, for as long as possible. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi hammypie , Hair Regeneration can stop minoxidil, or are weaned off it to prevent a lot of hair shedding. You can choose to continue with minoxidil after the Hair Regeneration treatment, but it isn't necessary. I hope this clarifies things for you.

@AmiyaPrasadMD4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kauser Khan, No, finasteride is not usually prescribed to women as it is a DHT-blocker, and women don't have significant level of DHT in their system. Also, 2.5mg is a very strong dose. I suggest you see another doctor for a proper diagnosis and an alternative treatment. You can see how we diagnose and treat female pattern hair loss in the video. I hope this helps you.

@@AmiyaPrasadMD sir then doctor suggest me prp treatment, I have diffuse hair fall/loss . I don't have thyroid issues n another vitamin deficiencies but vitamin D is low. Prp is good for diffuse hair loss? N after use of minoxidil shedding? It will work? N which session required?
@AmiyaPrasadMD4 жыл бұрын
Hi@@kauserkhan2321, I don’t administer PRP alone for hair loss because it has a limited effect on hair, usually just short-term hair growth. Also, the number of sessions needed does vary, and the longevity of results is unpredictable. TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration is a PRP combination treatment where PRP is the activator of the main ingredient extracellular matrix by ACell. TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration is a one-time treatment for most patients, and can last up to 5 years and beyond, depending on the aggressiveness of the hair loss pattern. You don't need repeat injections periodically. Some TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration patients with advanced hair loss get a second treatment 15-24 months after the first which we call the booster, but this is already included in the cost of the treatment plan, so you don’t pay extra for it. TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration patients can stop using minoxidil completely, or be weaned off it to prevent a sudden hair shed. You can refer to these videos about the differences between TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration from PRP alone: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIukeJR3qNiYrbs kzbin.info/www/bejne/roSwhZdvpruqhNE

Hello dr my name is melissa i have a question regarding the hair regeneration treatment. I just turned 21 and i had hair pattern baldness ever since i was 15 is it too late to start treatment? Will i see any difference if i start now or its late for any treatment ? My dad's side has very thin hair so i think its genetic cause i did blood test and everything is okay. I just want to know if i will keep losing hair more during my 20's. Thank u
@AmiyaPrasadMD3 жыл бұрын
Hi Melissa, Sorry to hear about your problem. If you have thinning hair present now, the treatment can thicken it, as well as stimulate growth from hair follicles that are still viable, but not currently growing hair. Genetic pattern hair loss may not show in a blood test. You can refer to this more recent video about how female pattern hair loss is diagnosed. and treated - kzbin.info/www/bejne/aIjLdn-vmtB6aqM
