I just got my IUD today, and it really wasn't that bad. I was given some numbing medication and a pill to help my cervix open up, so all I felt was a bit of cramping and some pressure, nothing unbearable. Overall, it was pretty uncomfortable, but not traumatic.

I had my IUD inserted 2 weeks ago. I wouldn't call it a pleasant experience but it wasn't the worst pain in my life either. I came prepared as well. My doctor had me take 2 extra strength ibuprofen and to get it inserted while I was on my period since your cervix is more open then. You don't feel the device itself go in just a really strong cramp, I mean like really strong too. It went away after a few seconds then I was good to go. I know this isn't the case for everyone though so talk to your doctor about any concerns you have.

hey im a biology student i just have a doubt does IUD stop periods ?
@Crypticangel5023 жыл бұрын
@@krivansemlani It's supposed to because your period is brought on by hormones and the iud can stop the drop in a hormone that makes it start. I was on the patch before and stopped having my period because I didn't take a week off with the patch I just put a new one on right after. There's no negative effect of not having a period either which is nice. You can get a better explanation if you google it.

It might be worse on me since i’m a transman so i’m built a lil different, as well as having PTSD. But thought i’d share nonetheless. Im now going to go smoke some pot and hopefully pass out Edit: One year later I have mostly recovered from the IUD placement and then home brewed removal a week later. I wasn’t having menstrual cycles before having it placed but they’re back to being somewhat regular now but also extremely painful. I have to call out of work the first two days of them because of how much pain it causes me. I haven’t gone back to the doctor I got it placed with, but I probably should to make sure nothing was damaged when I had to remove it myself. I want to add as well that my experience shouldn’t sway you away from getting an IUD! My experience is extremely rare and I’m the only person I know who had such an awful experience with one.

This is so wrong- you have to wait a bit after taking it out to be able to get pregnant for starters. Most men can feel it and it is actually quite painful, for me at least I had insane cramps after sex for the first 6-9 months after getting it. As well as some pain during sex in some positions, and he could feel it (multiple guys). You do have to do things after having it inserted (ex make sure the strings are there from time to time / go for check ups, etc) And most of all “it can’t move around the body” yeah it stays in the uterus, BUT it can easily become dislodged and you can’t do anything about it except get it removed. Good video I suppose but some of this information is wrong from what I’ve be told and researched myself, someone with an IUD or IUS for over a year (and my period has not gone away, it actually lasts for 16 days now which has been consistent basically since a few months after I got it! My period got lighter, but much longer. Fml :D) . Kyleena is terrible. It screws with your hormones, period, and libido big time. I only got it because my meds only allowed me to get this contraceptive which is still less effective because of my medication LOL sooo yeah moral of the story is birth control sucks
@sin33582 жыл бұрын
Oof...that's awful to hear. I remember hearing lots of stories of women hating their IUDs which just made turn off to the idea of ever getting one. Seems getting the tubes tied is the most effective way 😂 Annoying that woman have to deal with this. They should def work on men's birth control too. Vasectomy or condoms, that's enough enough choice

Well you can’t speak for everyone, nor can this video. The copper IUD, known as Paragard here in the United States, is what’s responsible for heavier and longer periods. Some women may also have toxic reactions to the copper as well. The most popular hormonal IUD, Mirena, is typically prescribed to shorten periods and lighten abnormal/heavy bleeding. And yes, they can both come out of place and possibly migrate to other parts of the body, which this video seems to gloss over.

Yes, it is most-likely still in place even if he feels the strings. When they first put it in, they will put it at the top of the uterus. Over time, it will fall a little more towards the bottom. This could cause the strings to hang down longer. You can get the strings cut shorter, but I also heard that might make the string feel more "pokey".
