Totally forgot the founders of Termalaine were Calishite, which would explain the tigers and djinn.

Players may hear a "Ten-Towns Rumor" (mine heard it in the Northlook at Bryn Shander) that the speaker of Termalaine has "closed one of the town's lucrative gem mines".

@@SteelySam personally I am leaning on your ideas for possibly running this campaign later in 2021. It's really beneficial to have someone provide specific insights like this - thank you very much, kind sir.

Great video, but did you… read the section in the book for it? It tells you what colour tourmalines their are, why the carvings are their, why people moved their, the mines importance… literally everything you asked about and speculated about is literally in the book…

When it comes to tourmaline, the gemstone is commonly black. It can come in various tints & hues, but the rarer iteration is pink (which I believe occurs in high elevations and is actually what makes the recently more & more popular Himalayan salt pink... I could be wrong, but please correct me if I am). In Wiccan/New-Age holistic belief, tourmaline has a centering and grounding effect that is beneficial to the wearer for various ailments & conditions both psychological and physical.

First off, all of your videos are so helpful! I am a first time DM and these have been so helpful to add depth to my sessions. Second, any ideas what the town does with these gems? They don't seem very useful and since there is minimum trade with "south of the wall" who is buying these gems??
@SteelySam
@SteelySam 3 жыл бұрын
Good point, without some kind of export they would just be sitting on mounds of these gems. I would suggest having them used as a spell component for some everyday spell. Maybe there are mages in Bryn Shander or Targos that use the gems for spells. They could also be used as filigree for all the scrimshaw around ten towns. Hope that helps.

@@SteelySam yes definitely good ideas! thank you :) I am trying to keep the magic to a minimum in Ten Towns so decoration might be the way to go. Along those lines maybe they can trade with Blackiron Blades as hilt adornments or something.

Tourmaline? That's a type of grease, used on machine parts that get exposed to water. The More You Know... :-D

Do you integrate Vellynne Harpell earlier than the book does?
@SteelySam
@SteelySam 4 жыл бұрын
I haven't introduced her in any of my games (all of which are currently in Ch. 2). I had planned on introducing her at the time the book does. If you wanted to introduce her or the kobolds early you could have the kobolds in a trench coat buying supplies at one of the general goods stores or have her watching Dzaan being executed in Easthaven (her relationship with Dzaan is entirely up to the DM)

If you think Tourmaline/Termaline is bad, Tourmaline is pronounced Termaline where I'm from.
