by giving people the choice to opt out will kill the program makes me think maybe it’s not a good program
@charleshetrick3152Ай бұрын
The program is already bankrupt even with everyone forced to pay into it.

Why not make it on on by default but keep the ability to opt out permanently open?

Why is there even a wa cares when there’s social security snd Medicare. Why are young people like myself being extorted for more money.

@@RobXb medicare & SS didn't give enough. Helping out medicare/caid/SS might be better, but you're asking something on a national scale at that point lol Like I said earlier, just keep the option to leave the program open forever for everyone. Not the worst thing lol

The wording of these initiatives is always so confusing. If you're "for" the initiative, you're often "for banning" some sort of legislation, which means you're against the underlying legislations. If you're "against" the legislation you need to vote "for"... the initiative which repeals it...

if this is a long term care benefit, how come that the benefit is only 36,000 us dollars as total in your life time? how can it be called long term? it does not cover even half a year of any care and then no more money ever after receiving the 36,000 maximum benefit.
@MattTomAndyАй бұрын
Exactly. The return on investment is next to nothing.

Because it's not supposed to be "term life insurance" or health insurance. It's supposed to work like Aflac. It's a form of care insurance.

I have a question for everyone, What is your vote for present and governor? I'm being honest on who I believe and even if you don't agree because this is the land of the free then I will not judge you no matter who you are no one should ever take the first amendment for you. I voted for Trump and Dave only because when Biden became president what has happened in these four years happened? The same goes for the governor? To be honest it's not a republican thing it just facts.

I'm so sick and tired of this about the school funding! There are so many things that was promised to help funding in are schools. For one example is why some people voted to legalize Marijuana! So where's all that money going?
@rom4remАй бұрын
Multiple funding for schools and never ending school levy plus private donor. Maybe people should check District superintendent salary some of them makes more money than doctors .

You can look up where Cannabis tax revenue went. 58.1% of it went to healthcare services. 33.4% went to the state's general budget that was dispersed to all other services in the state. 2.2% went to schools. 2.9% went to licensing departments. 3% went to city governments where Cannabis shops exist. 0.4% went to university research. why shouldnt the state care about power/energy? That actually sounds so like something that should be their concern.

Climate policy? What a joke! I work in this industry... Hmmm...what really happens...it is passed through to customers by increased cost to the stations. The refineries aren't cleaning their pollution. Which was the idea ... but no, you are paying this tax directly, unless you can get around this markup by purchasing fuel, by buying fuel from Oregon. Ever wonder why tribal fuel is so much cheaper? Get this ... Washington ships the refined fuel to Oregon, then hauls it back... is that reducing carbon? Definitely not!

I'm voting no on all these initiatives. And here's why: - Voting yes on initiative 2066 would not protect that hypothetical rural individual in the snow. Cascade Gas is a gas provider throughout most of Eastern and Southern Washington, and during a cold weather event, they're not going to be the ones to save you. You buying your own tank will. Rural communities are already abandoned by companies even with their existing rebates. The idea that keeping rebates somehow protects those consumers is asinine. Consolidating gas and electric businesses and slowly reducing the dependence we have on natural gas, as Washington has already been doing, is logical. Voting yes protects those specific corporate interests, not Washington families. - Voting yes on Initiative 2109 only protects the interest of individuals making hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars in Washington State. - Voting yes on Initiative 2117 would mean that the state would have to recoup those tax losses elsewhere and Washington residents, not corporations, would have to foot even more of the bill for essential services and infrastructure - Voting yes on Initiative 2124 would essentially end WA Cares. It would have a funding gap that would never be met and thousands of residents on the program would be screwed. 83% of Washington residents entering their 60s have practically no savings. And while $36k doesn't seem like a lot, $36k on top of existing medical insurance from an employer is actually valuable. I'm not trying to convince anybody one way or another, I just came here to voice my opinion since a lot of people in this comment section seems to be in favor of these clearly astroturfed initiatives.

Very reasonable explanation. As someone who has opted out of WA Care it’s in my interest to dissolve it completely as it can’t benefit me in any way and can only hurt by forcing me Into maintenaning a useless private insurance that I don’t want just to comply with the law

As a worker in a long term care facility, $36,000 will pay for about 3 months. Just saying. That’s with today’s charges, who knows what it would be in 10 years when you can use your benefits. Just my two cents (or $36,000!)
