My Hun and I took our first Mediterranean cruise, a 7-night Western Mediterranean Cruise based out of Barcelona, Spain on Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas. In the weeks leading up to your cruise, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Almost an over hydration type thing. Then continue it while on your cruise. Sure you’ll have to use the restroom a little bit more. It’s so worth it though. You’ll keep your energy and stamina up while on the cruise. Feel free to incorporate the Liquid IV packets too. Game changing!

Have you been there yet and have videos you haven't uploaded yet?? On our cruise there were a few dedicated “singles meetups” hosted by the cruise line. Plus there are activities that group people together, like the late night game shows and quizzes so you have the opportunity to meet people 🙂

I liked how you explained the difference in cruisers compared to those on Caribbean cruises. Another tip: if you are able to, get a one way cruise so that you can extend your cruise in different countries. For example, start from Rome end in Barcelona, so you can spend a few days in those cities. Your cruise itinerary includes those cities but in reality, you are only embarking and disembarking from those cities and won’t spend much time there unless you extend your vacation there.

Plus, depending on the cruise line, there are special events for solo travelers. What I love about solo travel is the freedom and flexibility. If you want to have alone time it is easy to get. Hi 👋🏽 Thanks for watching! We tend to use the insurance benefits received from our travel credit card (trip/baggage delay, medical, etc). I’ve heard great things about World Nomads, Safety Wing, or even adding additional coverage through your homeowners/renters policy if offered.

She’s right. It is a lot of work to see what you want especially if incorporating public transportation. Definitely recommend the train and like she says give yourself plenty of time to catch the return train especially in Rome. It is worth it though. One of the best cruises we’ve been on. Go to chinquaterra in La Spezia and Pompei in Naples. Be careful if touring the Amalfi coast. The narrow roads through the mountains are notorious for traffic jams. Hire a private driver who understands the traffic patterns. Just came back May 29th off Symphony of Seas. The history is incredible but you’ll only enjoy a small sample with the limited time

I think it depends on what kind of experience you’re looking for, Marcela. Royal Caribbean is fabulous and family friendly. Carnival is known for being fun and a bit of a party ship. Disney is luxurious while celebrity is peaceful and spa-like, but it all depends on who is sailing, too!

The problem with someone doing the laundry is so many clothes in the uk say do not tumble dry so I would be concerned they would be ruined. We don’t tumble dry to the same degree as the usa, particularly summer when we’d dry outside so no need to be tumble dry safe. I’d be really worried everything came back tiny 😂 I take my own liquid and do some bit dry on cool or hang in the cabin as the air con helps to dry it. We are on our first Mediterranean cruise in a few weeks time so starting to get excited now

I’ve also seen some people hang clothes on the balcony chairs, but I wouldn’t leave anything expensive out there because it may fly away, lol 😂 Thankfully there are hanging lines in the bathroom and clothes tend to dry quickly. Great tips! From your experience, are there things to do close to the ports within walking distance? I know most of the Italian port, you’ll need to travel about an hour to get into the city, but what about the other port of calls?

Thank you, Jean! Great question! The other ports were not as far away. Palma de Mallorca is about 3 miles from the port to the city center and Marseille is about 5 miles. In Palma, you're really close to the Marina so if you enjoy watching sailboats its really nice, but if you want more you'll have to travel deeper within the city. In Marseille there are a few things to do in the outskirts of town, but all the activity is a few more miles in.

Thanks for following along on our travels! It all depends on your energy levels 🔋 Whenever I have a long, late night flight I do everything in my power to sleep on the flight then stay up the full day when we arrive to adjust to the new time zone. That way I am READY to sleep at the right time. If I’m super sleepy and can’t function, worst case scenario I take a 1-2hr nap but no more than that. I would definitely schedule a 1/2 day of activities a decent amount of time after my flight arrives then wing the rest of the day. Explore, grab food, learn how to get around, etc.

Your cruise is coming up, soon Heather! England might be a little chilly, so I’d recommend a convertible jacket (a waterproof one with a hood and with layers that can zip off), and comfy walking shoes. What countries does your European cruise stop at?

Hey T A - we went on the cruise in late May, so the sun was def present! ☀️ I added each stop on our cruise to the weather app on my phone a few weeks before we left so I could track the temperature (and so I could pack!) I think this will help you decide what to wear based on the weather, since your cruise is a week away and the temperature is predicted about 10 days out. Always bring a light rain coat for London and pack layers that you can add or remove based on the weather. The Mediterranean stops are likely to be pleasant early May.

Hey Tesa! It depends on your country’s requirements, but if you’re coming from the US all you need is your passport 🙂 while on the ship you’ll need your sea pass card

However, the price of flights and hotels are likely less than what you would pay in the summer peak season. Is the weather a deal breaker for you? Or is it not much of a concern?

Just back from Barcelona and we stayed at H10 hotel - clean, comfortable and staff was very helpful. Took taxi to and from.

Yup! Summer 2022 it sailed the Mediterranean as part of its European debut, but as of Nov 2022 it sails from Port Canaveral.

if you cannot speak multiple languages eastern europe asia south america africa take excursions. western european most people can do broken english. tipping outside usa is an optional bonus not wage replacement

TIP ... Don't take "Copies" of your passport on excursions. Take your actual passport. If you are left behind in a port without your actual passport you are screwed if you need to fly home or to another port.
