YAS girl 👏🏼 I know it’s not the same but I recently went through classes to become an STNA and started working full-time right away. I have this amazing man who I’ve been with for 2 years. I just saw him yesterday for the first time in 5 days to celebrate our 2 years of being together. I was like “woah, I have a man? Who would’ve thought!” 😆 But luckily he understands. But it’s moments like that, that you have to sacrifice time to provide your patient’s the care they deserve and the care you’d want to receive if you were in their shoes. I have all the faith you’ll get there yourself when it comes to nursing by the sound of your passion and drive 💕💕

You can work from home doing insurance/billing, triage, etc, just do strictly flu shots during flu shot season, case management, and so much more! So it’s not the end of the world if you dont enjoy personal care, you definitely got a bunch of other options.

Second year ABSN student. For everyone who’s doubting their intelligence or potential to do well in school, don’t. If you were a good student for undergrad you will do just fine in nursing school. It is not as tough as how everyone hypes it up to be. Just study, manage your time well and you will be fine. I am working too and I have time to enjoy myself as well... it is hard but not hell.
@rein9524 жыл бұрын
JoshieEats I have a question ☝🏾 are you in nursing school know and if so have you already started working in a hospital I’m asking because I really don’t know if I should go down this route because I feel like if I do nursing I’ll never have time for myself and will spend majority (80%)of my life in a hospital setting and I’m just not really that kind of person.
@joshieeats3764 жыл бұрын
Hurricane 878 I don’t want to confuse you by my initial post, if you’re are doubtful and don’t want to be in the hospital setting, then perhaps nursing is not the best career choice for you. I am currently in a nursing program and working at a hospital. Nursing is a passion to me, and that is probably also why I don’t find it too difficult, because I actually enjoy the content and material. If you have the opportunity, you can always shadow a nurse, or figure out why you are interested in the field. Nursing in itself is very versatile, and there are many paths you can take with your degree, however, most new grads will end up working at bedside for experience. If you are disciplined, if you can prioritize, and if you can sacrifice short term pleasure for long term goals, you will be fine.

It’s basically herbal medicine and acupuncture you do write herbal prescriptions You do have the course work load such as A&P, pathology pathophysiology toxicology pharmacology bio chem gynecology internal medicine the list goes on trust me lol and you do have to go through clinicals in the teaching clinic (yes the works) while also learning the eastern side of medicine most courses you’re learning a diff language which is tough in itself so we learn Both sides of medicine and you can ultimately pursue many diff careers with it... its more of a holistic approach to health and I didn’t realize how hard it could be but baaaaby it is hard AF

I hope everyone realizes that despite having less schooling than a doctor, nursing is still really intense and hard. It’s not going to be a walk in the park where you can study the night before and call it good. Just because you got an A in anatomy and physiology, it does not mean nursing school will be a breeze for you. If you decide becoming a nurse is really what you want, then also realize your job will be consisting of charting, giving medication, charting, calling to transfer patients, and charting (it does vary for specialty obviously), but don’t expect some fresh out-of-Med-school doctor to whisk you away on a chariot with Derek Shepard hair, all the doctors are old and type A personality. Also, if you didn’t get into nursing school, try becoming a CNA for a year or two! It’s a small step to becoming a nurse and I knew a CNA who was in nursing school and after she graduated, she was able to go from CNA to RN on her floor. It was nice for her to have that connection and inside advantage.

Don’t worry about what everyone else is doing. Sure you can use their tips but you’ll have to figure out what works for YOU! Me personally I wrote things out time & time again & watched videos. You can be a nurse and be an artist on the side with no problem and being confident of your financial stability. The best thing about nursing is that you can discover any field you want, whether you like newborns or want to work in dermatology or want to do ER or women’s health or LITERALLY ANYTHING. There is something for everyone

Thank you for this video girl, I’m pre-nursing right now, almost done with my prereqs. This was a great video, all stuff I’m already expecting but it’s nice to hear it spoken about from someone who has experience in it. I know the “hospitals are a business” one is going to be a heartbreaker at some point in my career, your advice to “leave it at the hospital” and not take it home with you or carry that weight, is vital to success as a nurse. Again, really useful content. Thank you. 💕

8:12 A good way to look at this is: Though you may run into ethical issues, your being there and trying your best to make the patient’s experience warm and comfortable could ease their stress about money. Maybe not a ton, but sometimes, having a stranger show they care for you is a great feeling in difficult situations. No matter how fleeting. Even a simple, genuine smile could shed light on a stormy day. And where there’s light, there’s hope.

@@cactusrae1912 aww thank you so much for asking! I completely forgot i even made this comment. Nursing has been my dream carreer since i was 12, and i’ve been telling everyone about my plans. BUT after i got accepted, started in school and went into clinical for a few months, i started to feel a doubt within myself. I felt like i wasn’t actually happy and fully at home as i went in that direction. On my way to school every morning there was a kindergarten. I found myself dreaming about what it must be like to work in there, and i looked at the kids and the way they played. I dont know what the profession is called in English, but i think its a “pedagogue” or “kindergarten teacher”, maybe “social worker”? Nevermind 😅 every day when i walked past the kids, I felt a rush of happiness seeing the more free work space, and i instantly knew i had to make a change for my own good. But i was also terrified to admit to the world, not to mention MYSELF, that i had chosen the wrong path after all these years. I thought my future was set in stone and that i was going to be the best nurse in the game, but life really hits you like a brick to the face sometimes. Now, im waiting to find out if i got admitted into this new school to become a pedagogue (or whatever the correct term is). I hope you read my reply as this decision actually took a lot of me, and it means so much to me. I just dont feel like i would thrive in the nursing uniform, truly. Having the title “registered nurse” has a prestigious tone that people like, and nurses get a different kind of respect than a truck driver per say. And thats okay, but i cant live my life as a registered nurse just because it sounds good. Im gonna be working till im 65, so i might as well do what simply feels right ❤️
@cactusrae19123 жыл бұрын
@@lineavictoria2631 Hi! Thank you so much for the reply! Job satisfaction is something i find really important as well, so I’m happy you choose a path that would benefit that! I wish you the best❤️ If you don’t mind me asking, what part of it made you reconsider a career in nursing? I am currently on a hunt for a career path, and have recently been researching into a career in nursing. I am still uncertain whether or not it is for me so i am really curious about your answer? Of course, if you don’t feel like answering that its completely fine! I’m really happy for you, not many people has the guts to make such a big decision! Have a good day :)) Thanks again for the reply.
@lineavictoria26313 жыл бұрын
@@cactusrae1912 oh no its totally fine to ask! I just didn’t wanna write a whole paragraph if you weren’t going to come back to the thread 😂 i talk a lot so bucklenup and stay with me in this one lol. I decided to switch career paths because i felt like there was too much of a pressure on me, to step in and always take action and BE CONFIDENT the decision was right for the patient. I guess you could say the responsibiliy scared me, and im a very controlled and organized person to begin with. Thats why my anxiety about responsibility really doesn’t make sense in my ears... many of my class mates were much more loose in many situations, and they’re still in school. The question is if they actually feel the same way i did, but dont want to change their path 😕 I think many people have realized many things about themselves during lockdown because you’ve been forced to listen to your own thoughts and feelings about things you maybe wouldn’t have payed much attention to otherwise. I knew i had to change my path as early as around the 2 month mark of being in nursing school, which terrified me because i had just started working on what was supposed to be my dream career 😬 nursing is an amazing field, but you have to be sure in your own judgement at all times during your shift. Your every move can determine how the life of another human being is going to go. Thats also a beautiful, powerful thing. Truly! I’ve just never trusted myself enough, i feel (thats based on childhood trauma.. yaay!). Another thing to note is that people in nursing tend to work on autopilot. Things move way, way too fast for the average human being in some kind of need. (Note: I’m Danish, so the hospital system might be built different where you’re from) A sick person needs care that is sometimes very urgent and it HAS to go fast, but nurses tend to move onto the next patient as soon as they’ve done what the protocol said they had to do. Not much else. In eating situations, they dont take time to sit and hold the hand of the 90-year old with dysfagia, who is someones mother. Those seemingly little things are rarely prioritized 😔 When i was in clinical i loved spending actual time with the patients. They’re so kind and often very thankful for your help, even if its just a new shirt or a diaper the nurse didn’t have time to help with. I often cried because i felt so helpless.. i wanted to help them all and give them the love and care they deserved. Not just the steril and “simply nescessary”, but also the human-to-human connection they needed. I assume school costs you a lot of money where you are, so dropping out may be a shitty solution if you were to end up not loving nursing school. Revise if this field and the responsibility is within your bones, really. Clinical is very interesting and you realize that you honestly dont learn much from reading or solving tasks on paper😅 if it doesn’t cost you money (as we have it in Denmark) i’d say you should definitely give it a go. The theory and actual book-schooling can be very interesting if you like working with the weak and elderly specifically. I felt that we were taught so much about how to care for those kinds of patients much more than we were taught how to care for a 30-year old seemingly healthy person. I felt like the elderly took up too much of the overall experience in nursing school, but that might just be a personal preference thing ☺️ I also want to tell you that putting on that uniform every morning of clinical is going to feel so good. It feels like slipping on the title and authority you’re working so hard for. But, the uniform comes with a lot of expectations, pee, poop, blood, sweat and tears 💪🏽 you feel strong and capable, but you can also feel small and insecure when you, as a student is in a situation where you’re the only one in the room and the patient is counting on YOU. You might love it or you might not, but keep an open mind and let your gut feeling guide the way ❤️

I'm graduating in may 2019 and my last semester as a senior is BRUTAL. You would think senior year is easy sailing...Lord I've never cried so hard in my life. I think too when you're in the middle of the nursing program like sophomore junior it hits you too. I've had no sleep, lost weight cause I never had time for breakfast, long hours in clinical plus way too many exams lol it can be torture. However if you have a good support system in the nursing school it makes it way easier. But it's worth it though it's my version of military school Healthcare style. My friend is in medical school and he tells me it's much much worse than nursing school though. But if you really are passionate about nursing hard work shouldnt stop you

There is a job for anyone. I would not care to work with sick children or babies. Just not my thing. I love geriatrics. If you like procedures, surgery or clinics might be a good place. It’s crazy to think that I never realized how fast I’d start to grow a respect for STNAs and nurse’s. The next step in my journey will definitely be to become a nurse, but I also want to stay as an STNA, specifically, to gain a respect for the profession and to learn basic care before I move on to nursing school.

This has helped so much❤️ Staying organized is rough and I have been letting it accelerate my feelings. It’s nice to take a step back because I relate to this so much. Like I can watch my blood being taken or shots, but the idea of cleaning an infected wound or having to give stitches grosses me out. But ALL I watch on KZbin are nursing videos and I always think “ugh I wish I was tough enough I would totally just go for it” I love sciences and school and learning about health care and the body and that was always the thing holding me back. But recently I’ve been thinking about it more like maybe I can just GET OVER IT. Maybe over time I will desensitize to it? Bc I used to not be able to stand the sight of blood or even hear someone throw up but now things like that don’t bother me. Anyways, that just motivated me even more 💞
