Great content. Remember when looking at a ADN or BSN RN program. Look at your financial status, living stutation, accreditation of the school, the school NCLEX pass rate. I am a new grad RN with a ADN. In my state I got a position working in ICU at a large magnet hospital. Plus the hospital will pay for me to get my BSN. I have a friend in the same state and we work at the same hospital. They are RN with BSN and works on Med-Surg floor. They are 60K in debt and make about a dollar more than me. Remember nursing school is hard. Not everyone is successful in the nursing program. Please do your research and pick a program that fits you. STAY ON YOUR gRiNd.

I live in rural Maine and i have my ADN, the new grads I was hired with that have their BSN only make 50 cents/hr more than I do. I think as long as you stress that you plan on going back to school in your interviews, you have a pretty good chance getting hired with an ADN! Also, you enter the work force sooner and most employers will pay you to go back to school. Once i go for my BSN i can do it all online too!

Getting a job in specialty areas like Peds, NICU, Mother Baby, L&D is damn near impossible without a BSN, period. Have you applied for your multi state license? That’s the compact licensure you were referring to. I believe Texas is a compact state. Useful for anyone looking to do travel nursing.

Actually, “diploma nursing” aka LPN isn’t being “phased out.” There are quite a few LPN programs in the surrounding area in which I live. LPN’s in my area can work pretty much anywhere that an RN can. I just don’t like that people aren’t considering LPN’s nurses anymore. I’m currently waiting to get into an LPN program, then plan on bridging to RN when I get to that point.

Gunner Carter it’s because LPNS are practical nurses meaning that they still aren’t real nurses. Just like one step behind. And they make way less money due to them having less responsibilities
@nikitabudgets42015 жыл бұрын
Actually I think what she meant by diploma nursing is a program where you can obtain a actual diploma in nursing, not LPN. I heard of one hospital in CT that had it, the program just closed in 2017. So it is being phased out
@picturegirl43155 жыл бұрын
LPNs are being phased out in many states. Programs lie and say LPNs can work anywhere an RN can and do everything an RN can do. It’s all fluff to sell an extremely expensive 1yr diploma, which if you think about it, isn’t actually worth the weak salary and workload. If you want to be an LPN take it for what it is or you’ll be extremely disappointed.
@selimacarson75285 жыл бұрын
Picture Girl Lpn are not being phased out they work in LTC, Home Care, Doctor Office, Prison, Jail, and Mental Health faculty. I know LPNs and LVN who make good money. Diploma nurse do the same course as regular RN; then they go to hospital for Nursing school. After that program you can do you BSN in 12-16 months

@mikaylaparks16936 жыл бұрын
Yes you can do pre reqs at a community college they will transfer over to a university. After Pre reqs (if you’re trying to get in to nursing school) you will have to take the HESI entrance exam and then you can start a nursing program. Great points! I'd definitely recommend getting a job in the healthcare field, department specific if you can, at any point prior or even during nursing school. Whether that be a transporter, unit coordinator, receptionist, medical records, nursing assistant, etc, etc. Even if it's a couple hours a week. Volunteer if you're able to. Being in the atmosphere of the hospital is invaluable experience you just WON'T get from school, and it will give you a definite LEG UP throughout the program. Once you graduate, you've already established a, hopefully good ;), reputation somewhere-- and landing a job should be a breeze. Just be sure not to carry bad habits you may observe in the hospital/facility OVER into nursing school, as the didactic curriculum will expect you to answer 'by the book.' Thanks so much for taking the time to explain all of this Lexi. It's EXTREMELY important information for prospective nurses!

lasondra wolf I agree love. The hospitals in my area are becoming over saturated due to the amount of new nurse grads, largely because a lot of hospitals offer the RN program and students hope to just go right to work there. I know here in the Dallas area that the nurse shortage is real! I wish people stop making it seem like lvn/lpn are not nurses. We take the NCLEX too! I personally don't want to work in a hospital cause I value my time. Like I said my cousin is a travel lvn nurse and she makes more then some of the RNs she work with. I would like to add that 7:40 when you say you can “only work as a nurse in Florida” that Florida is a member of the eNLC. AKA: the licensure for Florida is actually usable in other compact states. Some states are non-compact, however, as of January 19th, 2018, the eNLC was implemented and Florida (the license you received) is apart of this. Therefore, you are actually able to practice and travel in all compact states as a registered nurse. Please like this for the information.

The only requirement for nursing school would be to get your prerequisites done. Usually the prereqs are physiology, anatomy, stats, chem, and microbiology. Some nursing programs require more, like calculus. Doesn’t matter if you have ur bachelors already or not, u still need to take these specific classes to get into nursing program. So yes, u can get ur bachelors, and still get into nursing school but u have to take the pre reqs, too. Hope I helped, possibly? :)

From what I’ve seen so far (during cpr training and scrub fittings) my cohort is not necessarily people that i could see myself ever really collaborating with outside of school. It makes me feel self conscious!

How do you become a pediatric nurse, er nurse or like a midwife nurse?
@starstruckkk73286 жыл бұрын
Karla Membreno first complete prerequisites in college, apply to nursing school, pass nursing school entrance exam, graduate nursing school, pass nclex get licensed, apply to a job in that specialty and then the hospital will train you. But you could’ve googled that lol

Karla Membreno once you have your BSN, work for a couple years as an RN so you gain experience. Then you can apply to masters degree or DNP programs with a focus in midwifery

I'm about to be a high school senior, and the reality of life is hitting me right now. I'm Filipino, and if you already didn't know, Filipinos are stereotypically all nurses. All my life, I rejected nursing as a career, but now I have come to a realization that it is something I want to pursue. If I think AP courses are hard, I am in for a ride becoming a registered nurse. Thank you for this video.

Do you know anything about getting a license in another state? I'm in my last 2 years of nursing school in nc. I plan on moving in with my boyfriend after I graduate. He is in the military (currently in Virginia). Any advice would be appreciated.

Ok I’m soooo confused how do you take prerequisites? Do I apply to a nursing program like a BSN one after high school? Do all programs have a direct admin? Could you tell me if the University of Florida has it?
