Im one of the silly ones that went to a local reptile enthusiast store and just been wanting tokays since a child and just got a pair of babies and everything to go with. Thank goodness there are people like yourself that give me the ability to do immediate intense research and open my knowledge book on the care these puppies need! Now after hours of online videos and reads im confident these will live on with me by the time i turn 40🎉

2 years ago i got my tokay and all the videos from Dakotah were amazing help. 2 years later and i got a new member to the family, a green body blue head female tokay, raising her to join my 2 year old male in there lovely new 36"x18"x36". Thank you for all the great information you release Dakotah!

I’m preparing for my first Tokay now. I knew all of this and then some, and that’s why I love them so much. I agree with the intellectual portion as well. Tokays seem hyper aware of their surroundings, whereas a Crested or Leo just kinda waltz around with a bunch of rocks in their head 🤣 (still love em)

The tamest animal I own (including my cats) is my mostly blind leopard gecko (developmental defect not genetic, he's a wild type, his egg probably got squished a bit and his face is a little deformed). I think with leos, if they don't see anything scary they just don't get scared - and since he can't really see anything aside from general movement, he's never scared. Perfectly tame even when I got him at 3 weeks old, few years old now so safe to say aside from lack of eyesight and a wonky face he's perfectly healthy. He does need to be tong-fed (and even then misses a lot), and is even more likely to just walk off of sheer edges and fall than what's usual for leos.

The Toyka Gecko I had as a teen, is what got me into reptiles. I was able to handle mine back then took some time for that.I now have a Savanna Monitor and a Toyka Gecko that I rehomed both are about a year old.

Love tokay geckos. They were my favorite pet lizards since the 90’s when I worked in a pet shop.

HELP! I recently purchased two baby Tokays. They told me they were CB. One of them is ‘stargazing’, very thin, and looses its grip on the glass enclosure. He/she? Will allow me to hold in my hand. Are there known Neuro problems?

My mom is from the Philippines where these guys roam around, being a menace to society. The Filipino word is just "tuko" which in English sounds like you're either dealing with a Pokemon or an ancient god, and I think both of those things fit here.

one thing i wish i known before getting my tokay, is that she wouldn't eat for two weeks after getting her. She's finally starting to eat regularly and it's been about a month lol, but still only at night, never coming out during the day.

Got a tokay from a local pet store. It's still a bit small but it seems to be somewhat tame , first day it tried to show that its territorial. But it's getting used to me slowly and we're on day 5 I think . I set up a temporary enclosure for him/ her Until I get the permanent one all set up.

Well, Dakota, I think that I am still rather interested in the tokay gecko. I'm not sure if I will ever get one but we'll see. In time I may ... if I find a good, competent breeder in Canada. That will take up a fair amount of looking power. OH by the way, I've been subscribed to you for a while and I do hit that like button. I was the 99th button smacker today lol

So what are your thoughts for taming one of these amazing guys compared to the green iguana? I have a red that is cat tame as I explain to people when I'm out with her in a harness. My friends try to talk me out of getting tokays later on but.. they aren't doing a good job.

@@Dakotahblueexotics Little blood and love bites never hurt no one. Can't be worse than trying to settle down a alligator roll 4ft iguana. (or.. sometimes she just misses taking food and my fingers are obviously in the way..)

You're the main reason (and Reptiliatus) I got into Tokays three years ago and now I'm vending at my first reptile show this August with my captive breds! I'm hoping to help educate people on Tokays and show that they are only horrible little beasties because of how smart they are and once you work with with them they can learn to tolerate you! 😉

Took a geckos are essentially the attitude of a pissed off chihuahua, and the jaws of a Rottweiler! The number one thing you really need to know, invest in some very good gloves and have several pairs.

I don't need to breed or pet a gecko, i don't know why we have a lot in our house they don't leave they roam around and producing more. Our biggest is 14 inches down to 10 inches they are happy playing in our house, they run in our walls and very loud.

You’re correct. I never noticed that either but the Masons are a satanic cult! I was gonna subscribe until I saw this comment and had to see what you meant. I thought it was a law enforcement star. People who don’t understand the satanic nature of that group will find out on the other side. So sad. Thanks for stating this.
