What you need to know to start collecting Digimon.

Getting into a new TCG can be daunting. Especially if you're new to trading cards in general, or are just confused about all the different sets and card type rarities.
So, to help new collectors, I created this video, which breaks down the basics of the Digimon Trading Card Game and how to start a collection.
Bandai have done an incredible job with Digimon. I don't regret the time I've spent investing in my collection, learning how it works, playing the game and meeting new people.
This video talks about the different Digimon sets, Special Booster 1.0 and 1.5, Great Legend, Battle of Omni and Double Diamond. It also breaks down Promo cards, Prerelease cards and Tournament cards.
I'd imagine in the future I will need to update this, but for now, I hope, if you're new to the hobby, you find this helpful and it inspires you to start collecting cards!
*If you want to invest in Digimon, whether through a collection or sealed, gates wide open! You can do what you want! Just don't come to me for advice lol

I bought a couple starter decks and boosters when the first 2 sets came out. but didn't have anyone to play with during covid and stopped. I just bought the purple garurumon deck and a bunch of BT7 boosters because I loved that season of the show. But then as I was getting ready to go to the LGS for the tournament that inspired me to get back into it, I discovered like 5 cards in my purple deck are restricted. Really took the wind out of my sails and I had to skip the tournament and make a different deck that ws legal.

I also loved that Digimon Rumble Arena PS1 videogame! As a kid I got the Digimon World first, but I could not really play it, cuz' of language barrier (it was quite text heavy and I had no experience with world languages aside from entry english classes in my kindergarden). But I was really into that anime, especially Digimon Tamers (I watched it in deutch which was another language I did not understand back then lol). The Rumble Arena game was a perfect fit for me. I think the reprints are a positive thing from a collectors point of view because you want as many people joining the hobby as possible. Unfortunately for English tournaments, you have to use English cards, so your opponent can read the effects etc I regularly use Geek Retreat, I’ve seen Zatu Games sell at really great prices. Never too late! Singles are a good price still, not many cards are really expensive. I get my boxes from Brotherhood Games in London, but other than doing research, it’ll depend what shops are near you 😅

You are my kind of girl Im sorry if that makes you uncomfortable but you’re a lot like me someone who plays the Shits & giggles & who has real passion for games like this 🙂. You also been extremely informative & through with your info on the cardgame & the release & also knows way more about the game then me or my friends were the same as you we play Digimon, Pokémon, Vanguard Yugioh for Casual fun only well 2 of us anyways. But I gotta ask miss Strawberry 🍓 how the heck did you adjust to the memory manna system cause I massively struggled with it when I was trying to learn the game back for myself with my friends decks & that improvised deck with Veedramon as my focus the Secret rare from BT-001 managed to find for only 8 each so I got a play set almost one with him too it scared my friend who plays War Greymon red. But I ether passed on 2 much memory to my opponents or they leave on 0 memory so I couldn’t do anything seriously it frustrates me to no end I’ve gotten more ues to it thanks to my UlforceVeedramon Start decks it gave me the right know how on what to do but I’m just rambling anyways thank you 🙏 much for this beautifully well done educational video your also a lovely 🥰 lady despite your swearing but who am I to talk I used some very very choice words when my friends memory choke me but I try my absolute best to avoid using such language in front of Children anyways you have a nice day now miss Strawberry 🍓😉. @@strawberrypi Oh I practice when I can against my friends & I think I am getting the hang of it cause I use both UlforceVeedramons at 3 each for my 6 megas this way I’m not always relying on on or the other if I don’t have enough tamers to pull the original UlforceVeedramon I’ve got the start deck version as a backup since it only requires 8 or more cards in hand to trigger sure it’s once pure turn but the start deck AreoVeedramon helps with lack of attacks 😂 plus one security mother scratchers suck it 😜🤪

Does digimon have set rotation? I want to play, but set rotation makes a game like pokemon way to expensive and makes deck building less fun imo. Some of the boosterboxes only cost 55-60 in my country, wich is crazy cheap. So i am tempted to buy 2 different boxes and buy a few decks to start

I noticed that the player population is much greater than the collector population in terms of the digimon tcg I am one of the few collector/master set in the digimon tcg I never tried to understand how to play the actual game just like Pokémon lol
