What You Really Need After Giving Birth 😳

After 5 babies I think I have the postpartum care essentials DOWN!
I don't know about you, but I had ZERO clue about what was needed for postpartum care prior to it happening to me.
I'll never forget when my friends came over right after I gave birth and were confused as to why I had all these items by my toilet. That right there proved to me I wasn't alone when it came to my ignorance in after birth care.
There was so much I felt unprepared for and wished I had a big sister or friend to hold my hand through it. So that's what I try to do here! I hope by sharing my experiences and vulnerabilities you will feel less and alone and more prepared 🤗❤️

Yes, post birth self care of your sore area is something women and men should be aware of. Those big pads are great (or even large size kid diapers are great for getting wet, putting them in fridge, then using them-can help with swelling and hemorrhoids. Think ice pack for the privates!

Theres a reason our c section rates are 3x higher than other developed countries. It's not talked about because most people, including women who have gone through it, were never really educated or informed much on the topic either. Congratulations on being 6 months! 🤗 Yes, unfortunately there is a lack in a generational passing down of knowledge either because we have lost those women, or things are just not talked about. Educating yourself right now will help so much. I know it can all seem so overwhelming, but just remember, your body was created to do this 💙 sometimes it may need help, but really, it knows what to do. I would really recommend looking up Sara Lavonne and Nurse Zabe here on youtube. They have many informative videos on pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. Also, search for the TMC childbirth class playlist. Praying for a healthy pregnancy and delivery for you and baby 💜

Birthing while upright is much better because gravity helps pull the baby downwards - we aren’t meant to birth lying flat on our back because then gravity is pulling the baby back inside us so we have to push fifty times harder. It’s absolutely bonkers that many doctors still get women to lie on their back D: so be as upright as you can or like crouching on all fours if possible! :)

Not everyone tears. My best friend had 4 babies all very big and only got one tiny superficial tear with her first delivery. But her first delivery was with a different midwife than her other 3. If this scares you, I want you to know that I only bled for about 2 weeks after, and most of that was similar to the bleeding in the last day or so of your period. I also did not get any hemorrhoids, and I did not tear. Postpartum recovery can be definitely tough, but just because it's this way for one mom doesn't mean it will be this way for you. No matter how it goes, you will eventually recover and feel pretty close to normal :-)

Sadly was so worried about diapers I just ended up ruining all my clothes. This time I had worn them just to sleep because overnight was worse and it helped so much. Now I know why some women use them for overnight period issues. Even though I didn't bleed nearly enough to need them it was great to not have to worry about leaks. Hemrroids advice for anyone who needs it. Cause I suffered way too long before I learned this. Hot baths, especially if you have external Hemrroids. And you should wait a few weeks until you are healed and stopped bleeding. Depending how bad your flair up is, several a day might be needed. And you din't need to fill the tub all the way, maybe 4 or 5 inches, just enough to give your bottom a good soak. And soak for at least 25-30 minutes. The heat helps relieve the pain and helps reduce the swelling. Follow up with some max strength cream with numbing agent.

And people wonder why so many woman are actively choosing not to have kids. You spend most of your life being gaslit into thinking that childbirth is a miracle and then as we get older we learn the truth of just how damaging physically and emotionally that the whole process is. Only wish I could find a doc to tie my tubes.

Rinse, derma, pad/diaper, cooling pad, then witch hazel pads all along that ice pad👌🏻I really enjoy the re usable ice pads as well. Also I got a cute little box and set it up next to my toilet weeks before I was due. Just helps take some stress off for when you get back from the hospital, everything’s right there in an arms reach.

I’ve had 2 C-sections and it can hurt or be dissatisfying to pee completely. So If you can, kind of stand up and hover over the toilet as you pee. Personally, sitting seemed to put pressure and prevent the urine from coming out. But as soon as I would stand up a little, it finally came like normal. It was relief instead of pain.

Pelvic color exercises are great for that kind of stuff. There's one version where yours just clenching your pelvic muscles and you can do that anywhere since its just flexing those muscles continuously in reps There's full kegals a where you lay on your back and lift your hips. They actually helped me with my peeing issues. I'm a woman in real life I just liked conner from Detroit become human so that'd why my names this.

As someone who is young and unmarried, I really appreciate all of this advice but it is so intimidating. During pregnancy/childbirth you can tear, you poop yourself in a room full of people, you gain weight, your nipples leak milk…I wouldn’t be surprised if growing a tail is in there as well. Is having children actually worth it? Sounds like an awful lot of pain and humiliation…
@chrissyhorton
@chrissyhorton Жыл бұрын
Oh it is 💯 x infinity worth it! The thing is, all that embarrassing stuff may not even happen to you. Everyone has different experiences 🤗❤️ Also, doctors and nurses are so incredibly use to it that if you did do those things, they aren’t going to remember you for it. Those are routine and no one bats an eyelash. It’s all very natural and something primal takes over when you are going through it. I use to think the same thing about birth and now here I am with 5 😉 While it is a sacrifice, sacrifices aren’t bad. It’s giving something up of comfort now for something SO much greater in the future ❤️ Nothing in life worth having comes easy. One more thing to remember, all those moments you are afraid of are so temporary. Those moments of discomfort are nothing compared to the lifelong bond and love you will have for your child ❤❤❤
@RachelDee
@RachelDee Жыл бұрын
Women before us had the same kinds of worries. They made it through, and so can we. When you cultivate a supportive group around you that reinforce it's worthwhile in the longterm, there's also way less humiliation and pain in it. Even if you never have children yourself, you can be part of an encouraging cultural solution for the mamas that are self conscious or afraid of the same things on your mind.
