I was thinking of moving to ocean shores but worried about work. I'm in the culinary industry and have been for 28 years. What would you think is the possibility of finding something to support me and my family?

Me and my girlfriend love ocean shores it’s our happy place we currently live in Everett curious if there are any nice apartments you would recommend us looking into? Honestly not at the point yet to buy our first house Thinking about moving down there for a year or two to just get away from everything
@oceanedgepnw2 жыл бұрын
There are a few apartment complexes out here. There's a local property management company called Pacific Properties and they might be able to help you find something.

In late June 2021 to early July Seattle was in a serious Heat Wave.. How was it in Ocean Shores??
@oceanedgepnw2 жыл бұрын
Great question. It was hot here as well but only got up to 93 degrees. I remember going to the beach that day and there was so much wind it didn't feel hot at all. In fact, people were heading here from Seattle in droves that weekend to escape the heat!
@derekjohnson772 жыл бұрын
@@oceanedgepnw Yes I live in Woodinville and two of my neighbors are seniors and they both headed to Ocean Shores to escape the heat.

They don't call it "greys harbor" for nothing. If you don't mind not seeing the sun ... pretty much forever .. Ocean Shores has you covered. I remember in Portland it was 100 degrees. Figured, why not head up to OC, and cool off! Fog Rolled in, and it was cold, rainy, windy and miserable 4'th of july... Yep, the coast weather can change fast. I don't know if these people even live in OS they probably just visit 3 months out of the year. Oh, and yes, it hardly freezes in OS that's a good thing. But still. It's cold, wet, and windy 80% of the time. Did I mention it's cold? lol... You'll never see the sun again.... But, on the other hand, when it's not raining and the sun does come out, the beaches are wonderful! Never take advice from a real estate agent.... They just want to sell you property.... Close that sale and get that commision. $$$ Ask around the locals how they like it...and hey!!! if you enjoy rain and cool/cold weather... then it could be for you!

For folks thinking about moving to Ocean Shores, keep in mind that it's gonna get demolished by a tsunami sometime in the next 50 years. You can make it out alive if you're able to outrun 100ft waves traveling at the speed of a jet plane crashing to land 20 min after the earthquake starts (most likely sooner). That good old Cascadia subduction zone.
@MrHamlet11 ай бұрын
50 years? That's oddly specific. You know that tsunamis are not predictable right? The Cascadia subduction Zone has been responsible for 19 earthquakes of magnitude 9+ in the last 10,000 years, so it could be 100, or hundreds or thousands of years before another one. We just don't know.

Hi! Very nice vedio. Thank you! What about safety and crime rate?
@oceanedgepnw2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jack! Coming from Seattle, the crime rate is considerably lower in comparison. We ourselves have not been the victim to any crime since moving here 2 years ago myself, and 1 year for my business partner. We are more worried about the bears digging into our trash! That being said, we feel very safe here. Have you ever visited Ocean Shores? Feel free to get in contact with us with any questions you have! Info@oceanedgepnw.com

Hi, thank you for this. I too am searching for crime rates. Also how much rain Ocean Shores gets---I live in OR so the more the better. :-) Am interested also in the political divide; whether it's more liberal or conservative. I did some reading and found my answers. :-) I love that there is abundant wildlife there, and would plant a garden not even caring if everything was eaten. Here's my big question---do these animals get hunted? Do you have a big, active hunting community?
@oceanedgepnw2 жыл бұрын
Hi Veronica, Ocean Shores gets A LOT of rain, with an average of 75 inches per year. You can expect 129 days or sunshine and 192 days of rain each year here! The wildlife is amazing - and they are protected as there is no deer hunting in Ocean Shores. The deer pretty much run this place and you will see them everywhere. There is an area for waterfowl hunting on the east side of Ocean Shores - you can find out more information on that here: wdfw.wa.gov/places-to-go/shellfish-beaches/990016. Hope this was helpful, and if you have any other questions you can reach us at info@oceanedgepnw.com

Uh … Aberdeen is not 45 mins away. It’s 20- 30 mins away depending on tourist traffic. The deer are cute but they do spread fleas all over your yard….. SO…. If you are wondering why you animals that you let outside are consistently have fleas despite how much money or how many Vet visits you do to help your animals….. It is the deer…. The raccoons …. And the bears ….. wandering through your property while you sleep.

We are just here to talk about our experience living in Ocean Shores. We aren't experts on earthquakes and tsunamis. However, it goes without saying that living on the coast you are never going to be 100% safe from a tsunami.

Living in ocean shores you should be ...
@arydativ54912 жыл бұрын
@@ALBINO_BIGFOOT You Should be wary but you don’t have to be an expert. I’m sure most, if not all of the residents are very well aware of the risks. Also, technology has really advanced and allows for the warning system to be triggered as soon as a tsunami is detected, thus giving ample time for residents to make an escape. I’m not an expert. however, I have done my research and watched many videos on this, specifically in the Pacific Northwest.

Been here since 2009. I love it, but there are a lot of little gotchas out here. If you’re looking for a burgeoning social scene, might not be for you. Outside of the wife and dogs, I tend to be pretty solitary in my personal life so it suits me just fine, but I know people who have moved out here and were immediately miserable.
@oceanedgepnw2 жыл бұрын
I agree with you about there not being much of a night life or social scene out here. If you love the ocean, peace and quiet, for the most part, Ocean Shores is just the place!
