I had a black cat before my gray one. She was with me for 16 years. She lived to the age of 17. A sweetie who never got tired of being petted. I couldn't eat yogurt as she loved it and would try to get her a paw full. She looked like a panther and had green eyes. I wouldn't get a black cat after her, although my heart wanted me to. I was afraid I would expect them to be just like my little Mami. So, I picked out a gray boy. We had some battles in the 1st couple of years.

We have a Tuxedo cat stray that we took in a few months ago. We just named him Tux, since we didn't initially plan on keeping him, but he comes and goes as he pleases. Sometimes, we don't see him for days. You described his personality PERFECTLY. He's always purring or meowing, and very much acts like a kitten a lot of the time, even more so than our actual kitten, Ziggy. The two are inseparable.

I have a 6 month old Male Tuxedo Cat named "Little Mac." He eats like a Horse, wet/dry mixed, 3 times a day. He's VERY Playful, Talkative, Curious, and very sweet when he's tired. At bedtime he wants to snuggle for a while, and then he'll crawl down and wrap himself around my foot and fall asleep like that. He likes to bring Frogs in from the back Porch, and place them on my House Slippers. I had to seal the gap they were getting onto the porch from, so we haven't had any little "gifts" as of late. He's not much of a Drama Queen, but one thing he DOES NOT like is the Rain 🌧 We are LUCKY to have him He is very much LOVED, and we Spoil him every day. 🖤🐈 "Please no more dead Frogs Little Mac!"

We have a Snowshoe named Badger (I could tell he was a bully cat when we interacted with him at the shelter), and he's got a mix of the Siamese and Tuxedo personality to him. What you described with Little Mac is quite like our Snowshoe. The fact he does not like rain, the fact that he is very sweet when he's tired, sleeping at our feet, eating like a horse (we do five times a day, twice with wet food & once with treats at noon), and being very playful and talkative. I know some of the playfulness is from Siamese, and really, he hardly ever gets tired of playing. Badger is also very affectionate/attached and if he was less constantly active, I know he would insist on being near me all the time (as it is now, he insists on being near when he's inside the house & even outside, if he finds me out there too he will follow me as I do chores, attempting to start play). I had a beautiful black half-Persian kitten given to me when I was just 10-years-old. He was the best! Affectionate, incredibly intelligent and in his 16 years, NEVER scratched or bit anyone, nor did he ever develop any illness. However, he did go missing for almost 2 weeks at one time, but then suddenly appeared laying on our front door step. He was thin and his paws were bloody, so we took him to the vet. She said that he must have walked at least a hundred miles almost non-stop (someone probably grabbed him in their car and drove him far away), but amazingly he found his way home. It's been 39 years since he passed and I still miss him.

I have 2 black feral cats who adopted me. They definitely were left behind. I live in rural tn in the woods and the last thing I expected were feral cats. We moved here with NO CATS. The vet said that black cats are very healthy, live long and overall, a really good cat. My one feral is 16yo. You should've seen him when he came up. So skinny, lethargic and looked tired from running, finding food, and shelter. Today, he is a hefty big boy. He lets me pet him and love on him outside when he wants to. The other feral was just as bad when he first showed up. Unfortunately, he had a shoulder limp caused from an injury. He only lived with us for 4 months before being attacked by a Tom that I still can't catch to get him fixed. I cried for 2 days. He was always waiting for me every morning when I opened my shutters. Just laying on the outdoor table waiting for me to have coffee and Bible Study. He was so dang sweet. I miss him terribly.

You skipped Tabby (Tiger stripes) which I'm more interested in because I got a ferral Tabby mama that keeps pumping out kittens in my backyard and I've been trying to build a bond with her. Even though she's been showing many signs of trust with me, just won't let me pet her. Occationally she lets me touches her back when the male cat is by her side.

Tabby just refers to a stripe pattern, it’s a dominant gene so it’s very common and any color except white can be a tabby, but I’m guessing you mean a brown-looking tabby which surprisingly are usually black tabbies instead, you can tell by looking at their darker stripes, if the dark stripes are brown they’re a brown cat but if the stripes are black than the cat would have been a solid black cat if not for the tabby gene I suppose the genetic explanation doesn’t have much to do with bonding with a cat though… all I can suggest is that if you want to care for her, leaving food and a safe, quiet space like a doghouse or something for her to raise her babies in may help her trust you, but ultimately with cats the most important thing is letting them come to you, I’m sure you can win her over with time

@@lindseylindsey9200 The tabby patterns are only on her legs, torso is dotted in darker prints, she looks more like a Pixie-bob and has a V instead of M on her forehead. 2 months ago she pumped out 8 kittens, 2 got eaten as I found blood all over, 2 were found in the crevice between the crib and short cardboard box and they were freezing cold. So I brought them in, covered them with cashmere on my belly for an entire day finally brought their temp back up and began hand feeding. Fastforward to 10 days ago, mama showed up with 4 kittens, turned she moved them somewhere else but abandoned these 2, I'm guessing they were weaker. I already got 2 cats, so now I got the mama, papa, and 6 kittens to feed. -_-

My cat is a tortie and the description is spot on. She's sweet but also a spicy one! Very strong willed but also "possessive" of me (her human). Generally very clingy like she feels the need to keep an eye on me at all times. But impossible to cuddle unless she's in the mood for it, but when she does want to cuddle she's the sweetest and most affection cat I ever had.

The day I moved into a new place, a young black female cat walked straight up to my partner and I, then proceeded to climb three flights of stairs with us to our new home. She walked inside, checked it out, and simply hasn't left since. There's an ever growing feral cat population that has established itself on the property, and I assume she came from there, as you'll always encounter at least two if you go outside here. Sometimes I see a little tabby female I'm very sure is from the same litter as my girl, they both appeared to be in that "teenage" cat state where they were all legs and big ears and floppy feet the time my girl arrived, and has seemed to mirror the indoor cat's growth rate every time I've seen it since. Maybe one day I'll be able to meet the tabby too :)

I also found cats to be partial to other cats of a similar colour- my tuxedo's didnt gt on with the ginger, but was ok with the tabby. anyone else notice that cats with very different colours ofteen dont bond. Idk about the personality aspect but tuxedo cats are just cats that have white spotting, and the white spotting gene can show up on any color and in any amount, tuxedos have a low amount of white spotting but you can get all sorts of amounts and patterns of white and sometimes the cat ends up completely white because their whole body was covered in one big white spot (although that’s only one way a cat can be all white, the other is the dominant white gene which is the one linked to deafness)

I just taught a gray kitten to fetch!! His dad had to get me to come over and play with him so he doesn't beat up the adult pit bull in the house. I had never seen a cat so possessive of his toys - that's why we started to play fetch in the first place. Otherwise he just tried to attack me. He's getting more mellow as he gets bigger. My grey cat (russian blue mix) is incredibly intelligent but it also makes her a bit testy and aloof at times. She absolutely refuses to be kept indoors at all times, but she sleeps on the pillow next to me every single night, makes biscuits on me, frequently, and is a Queen of the slow blink. She always knows exactly what's going on and she won't put up with anyone's crap. As adorable as she is, I wish she liked other cats, but she absolutely cannot stand them. I have a ginger cat and he definitely fits the bill aside from being out-going. He is definitely more of a home cat. He can come and go as he pleases but he never leaves our property and is always somewhere close by like down the side of the garage or in the garden somewhere. But the part he said about loyalty and affection / getting on with other animals is very true in my cats instance. He recognises my voice too and sometimes I don't even have to call him before he comes running across the garden to the door. He's very smart as well.

I have 2 male cats, one is an orange tabby, and the other is a harlequin cat. My orange tabby likes to play and constantly wants attention. He also has those freckles. My harlequin cat likes to bully the other cat, causes trouble, and loves to cuddle. He also has a lightning bolt marking on his forehead!

I think cats are like people. I have had over 50 cats in my lifetime and no two have ever had the same personalality. Size doesnt matter and neither does coat color. Its all about the relationship you build with that cat.

I disagree about the difference between calico and torties. I've had many of both, the torties are wild and fiercely independent, while calicos are intensely loyal and loving. I've always tried to have a calico cat among my group of kitty friends because they are so loving and gentle. I like the torties because they are so independent and just "don't give a damn what you think"

We had sweet Orange cat who was very dog like. In HS friends would find him entertaining which says a lot for teen girls find a cat funny. He also died due to mouth disease- Died from blood poisoning from gum & tooth decay

Tabby and bengal are both patterns (the bengal pattern is a type of tabby, in fact), not colors, any color can be tabby and I’m pretty sure any color can be bengal as well although some colors may not fit the breed standards for the breed of Bengal cats

Full on ginger cats are most commonly male, so your lady is a little bit rare!

Basically the reason female orange cats are less common is because since the orange gene is on the x-chromosome and co-dominant with black/brown, for a cat to only be orange they have to get the orange gene on all of their x-chromosomes. For male cats with one x-chromosome they just need to get orange on their one X chromosome from their mom, but female cats have to end up getting orange on both their X chromosomes, from mom and dad, if they get a black/brown gene on one of them they’ll be a tortoiseshell or calico instead, and that’s also why male tortoiseshells/calicos are rare, to have both orange and black/brown genes while still being a male cat they’d need XXY chromosomes, which is called Kleinfelter’s syndrome and leads to infertility, cognitive defects, etc. I don’t know about personality but I have some brown cat fun facts Sometimes tabby cats that look brown are actually black cats, look at their stripes, if the darker stripes are brown they really are a brown cat, but if the darker stripes are black than they’re a black tabby, their lighter stripes just end up with a little brownish tint sometimes There’s two types of brown in cat genetics, chocolate and cinnamon, and they’re technically different versions of black. Black is dominant over both of them, chocolate is recessive to black and dominant over cinnamon, cinnamon is recessive to both black and chocolate. There’s also a dilution gene that turns red, black, chocolate, and cinnamon into cream, gray (officially called blue for some reason), lilac, and fawn respectively, so in addition to black and red torties you can also have brown and red torties or any of the diluted colors plus cream

Our female cat is mostly white, but has very big patches of black fur on her face and tail. The rest of her body is completely white. She came to our lives when she was about 6 months old, pregnant, and a bit malnurished. We don't know where is she from, but she took as her familiy very quickly. She birthed five healthy kittens that were adopted as soon as they were able to walk by themselves.

Sadly, it’s true that black cats are often the ones that get adopted last. My youngest black cat was that way. She came from a litter of Siamese kittens and she was the only black one. A coworker of my bff/roommate asked if we wanted a kitten, and which one we wanted. We told them definitely the black one, if she wasn’t adopted at the end. All 4 Siamese were gone, and our baby was left. She’s a playful kitten who likes chattering to us, and though she doesn’t always know how to control her claws, she’s a sweetie. And our older black cat is literally the most talkative cat, and loves arguing with us to go outside and sit neck to the door. She is also the sweetest and most friendly cat ever. Black cats are some of the best cats I’ve ever had

I have to two 6 year old orange male twins. One cries almost all of the time and I say "what" and he runs to me for attention. One of them has groomed the top of my head on several occasions and licks my hand and legs at times. Neither likes their belly rubbed but both like to be patted on the butt. One or the other sleeps with me at night either against me or across the bed. Very rarely, both will sleep with me. I have a 13 year old gray female and she likes to sprawl across my leg and sleep. Although all three show their bellies, she is the only one that doesn't mind having hers rubbed. They often curl up near me and sleep when I am on the computer. All three can be curled up asleep but, the moment I step into the bathroom, all three are there. The one male walks around the bathroom crying for me to sit on the toilet because that means it's attention time for all of them. I got all three from a woman I used to work with. She was moving and they had about 12 cats and wanted to rehome some of them. I took the female because, as an older cat, she was hard to rehome. I took the males because I decided that she needed company when I was work and they were having a hard time rehoming them. The one male hid from me for 2 weeks after I got him, and he is on top of me all of the time. He doesn't like to be picked up, but he wants constant petting. The female is a fat cat. She has lost a little bit of weight since i got her, but she is always going to be fat. I think she lost some weight because I don't have a feeding time for them and keep their bowl full so they can eat whenever they get hungry, and she doesn't have to compete with a dozen other cats for food anymore. Instead of eating a lot of food at once, they nibble a little bit several times a day.

It’s great that you gave them a loving environment where they can be themselves-whether that's grooming your head, demanding attention in the bathroom, or enjoying some gentle butt pats! Your older girl especially must feel a lot more relaxed now that she doesn't have to compete with a dozen others. It’s amazing how quickly they adapt to routines and learn where they can count on you for some love.💖

My Tortoise Shell cat "Sweetie" is a real handful. She swipes, bites, doesn't like to be petted, gets stuck in trees, and is basically a bad kitty, but I love her still. I wrote her a love ballad... Sweetie Pie... my love for you is blind ever since you scratched my eye, my spirit's soaring high... Sweetie Pie, ever since you made a hiss swiped at me, and slashed my wrist my heart can't resist ... though with teeth you will bite me, and claws you will fight me, my love forever persists... My tortie also comes with an incredible attitude. Very vocal when she wants something. When outside fights with everything she comes across. Even challenges the Belgian Shepherd from the neighbours. But she will also seek me out when i'm in the bedroom she lays on the bed. When i'm visiting the neighbours, she will wait on the edge of the neighbours garden. Even when i lived on the golfcourse for a couple of years that i work on, she went with me outside to the putting green and the first tee when i went for a round. She even attacked a girl once i was dating because of jealousy 😂.

My calico is rather similar. When she was a little kitten up for adoption the agency placed her and several other kittens in a 5x5 cage at an event. Two very large dogs came up to the cage and stuck their noses in. All the kittens ran immediately into the little cave provided. Not her! She immediately climbed up the side of the cage until level with the dogs and hissed and clawed at them! She was only 7 weeks old! I fell hard for her at this and immediately adopted her. Well I’ve had cats for 66 years and while loving is very independent and very stubborn at times. More than any of the many breeds and color types I’ve lived with. And is she ever vocal in her demands! And I’ve had Siamese!

@@Jigaboo123456 Hahaha she sure didn't. Yes i still work on the golfcourse but don't live there anymore. Did live there for 5 years. But that wasn't the end tho the girl still wanted a second date. So we went dating again and when we got back home we talked and watched a little tv on the couch. So my cat came in jumped on the couch turned around and pissed over her 🤣. True story. She took a shower and then left i never saw her again haha. The cat was then 4 she is now 11 and i am still without a relationship because i care more about keeping the cat happy :D.

@@sussudioharvey9458 Yes siamese can also be rather difficult with behaviour. This is the first cat i had for myself . Got her as kitten from a friend of my sister. She had the cat as only kitten so she had no competition. But growing up on the golfcourse where i lived she could go outside to her hearts content on 27 holes 75 Hectares of golfcourse. Always got nice presents in front of the door. She even attacked a blue heron once. And now since i moved to a more populated place it's always fighting with other cats and dogs.

ah you didn't cover color point. i have a colorpoint with an extremely distinct facial markings that make her look like a bandit or like she's wearing a masquerade mask. her nose is black and then the black goes up and covers her eyes and ears. she is also extremely dominant over our orange tabby. both of them are very cuddly tho

I have a black cat and I have to agree what you said my Midnight is so loving, affectionate, and even affectionate sometimes I play with him not a typical way of playing with a cat I run he he comes running from me and sometimes I play tag with him anyone else do this please tell me this is a weird thing to do 😅😅

Oh, tabby cats! 😺 They're such classics. From what I've read, there hasn't been a specific scientific study on the personalities of tabby cats. However, many cat owners, including a few friends of mine, describe them as being curious and intelligent, and sometimes even a tad mischievous. The "M" mark on their foreheads is like a badge of honor. 🐾💛

my sister says my cat looks like a burnt marshmellow! okay, so she looks like a mostly grey, calico, tuxedo cat. she has the same white patches as a tuxedo cat does, with lots of orange on her back legs, right side of her face (still some on the left) and some minor pigment of orange on her but, and some around the back of her neck. she kind of does look like if she was a marshmellow and was dropped on a fire, on her back, but quickly picked up with a very cartoony striped tail, and just some random stripes here and there, but not at all, all over! there's stripes orange stripes on the right side of her face, her tail, and maybe a few more just scattered about! my cat is also so smart! she taught herself how to brush her own teeth, after watching me do it! (of course she doesn't pick up the tooth brush) she'll sit, and hold the tooth brush down with her paws, and bite it! and possibly lick it, i dunno, i wasn't watching her the last time she did it!

We have 4 Fur Babies right now. 2- Tuxedo 1-Grey and white Feisty 4yrs and Oreo 2yrs and Black and white. Princess Pudge 4yrs Grey tiger/tabby she is Feisty's sister and last but never least is Maverick our 3yr old Black Fur Baby boy, that wants to be an only Fur Baby, (he walks into a room growling at the other cats). He is or at least was very possessive of my husband and didn't want anyone or Fur Babies near him. He used to stick his nails in me if he was behind me and my husband could not see what he was doing. Well me and Maverick had a come to Jesus meeting when he went after the youngest sick one. Now he allows me to pet him and even comes to me to scratch his head. I love all my Fur Babies.

We have a white and black Cat. The White one has way too much energy, hella playful and curious. She used to even play with water and got wet all over ,never had a Cat like that before lol She also used to follower me around like a dog when she was younger/kitten and gladly not deaf, tho one of the Vets said she was lol I knew she wasn't xD And the black Cat is very Vocal and needy, not very playful but the white one makes him play at least with her :D He will reach out with his paw when you igore him and he wants your attention lol

I have a female short hair gray cat that I think is mixed with Siamese and she also has stripes like the ones you see on an orange tabby, she can be a trouble maker sometimes and gets into things she knows she's not supposed to and she's also SUPER curious all the time and isn't afraid of strangers and will come up to them to smell/greet them, she's cuddles with me sometimes but not as much as my other cat. I also have a male black and white long haired (fluffy) cat who is more on the lazy side and really affectionate when it comes to me laying down, he will purr and make biscuits and sleep with me all night, but he's SUPER skittish and scared all the time (I wonder if it's because the person we bought him from had a bunch of kids who kept wanting to pet and mess with the kittens and so maybe that was traumatic for him, idk) and it took him like 3 days to finally come out of hiding when my dad came to visit and stay with me for a week.
