Do not use Q-tips to remove it, you are actually making it worse, if you are constantly shoving earwax into your ear canal (( which you will if you try and clean the inside )) you can cause blockage or other problems. If you are removing it daily you could also be causing irritation, which means MORE WAX ! YAY ! So you might be causing the problems you have with it yourself, well I assume at least since you said you hate it.

DecoyBlackMage I remove it weekly or biweekly by putting hydrogen peroxide in my ears and letting it bubble then leak out into a tissue. Don't use qtips, takes so long.

Yasss! I asked you about the antibiotic properties of ear wax nearly a year ago on Facebook! You mentioned my question in a video! Super glad to see you dive back in to the subject! I tend to notice both types of ear wax myself. I've had ear tubes inserted and removed multiple times due to allergies and ear infections, and I find I produce more wax than many of my friends. Gross, right?!

​@@grossscienceshow wet type earwax smells more stinkier than the dry type ones but much easier to take and clean the ears that has it dry type earwax smells less stinkier compared to the wet type ones but harder to clean because dry earwax can stick up to the walls of ear canal like a glue overtime if not cleaned for a long period, if you attempted to remove it, it usually includes the skin layer of the walls of ear canal with the removed dry earwax and often live to ear wall skin bleeding

I do as well. I am not sometimes my earwax looks exactly like the picture Anna showed. Normally it is sticky. I don't know whether it correlates with anything such as my health. I haven't noticed any pattern and sometimes it's different in each ear.

I have an ear problem.. my ear wax is regular on my right ear but on my left ear it’s ear wax is dry, and hard. And when I clean my ear, it feels wet and then, I clean again and push up and then I hear like a pop pop pop in my ear, it’s strange and I’m thinking, do I have some cotton in my ears from the Q-tips?

This is so interesting. It just validates my thoughts of me having some/a lot of Inuit Indian from northern Russia or China. . I have a low body temp and I can handle very cold very well. I happen to have both types of ear wax, Anna. I've got Native Brazilian, Italian, Portuguese and African Brazilian ancestry, and so I suppose the gene pool here has everything to do with it.

Any substance vital to us that also eventually needs to get removed (such as earwax) can be different colors that say something about our health. When our earwax is yellow, green, or light brown, something if not quite everything about us is safe; however, if our earwax is red, dark brown, gray, or black, or in between whatever, we do have trouble! Currently, my earwax is usually maroon or amber (and I have had brain health conflicts from struggling with reasoning).

My ear candy errs on the yellow & flaky side of the spectrum more often then naught but occasionally takes a turn for the orange and gummy. I know because I clean my ears regularly. Also the left ear is noticeably more productive which makes me wonder if this had something to do with the side I sleep on? Or maybe my right ear is defective.

Great question. I know that some people can have trouble hearing if they don't clean out their ears. I'm not sure about other types of health problems, but I'll look into it.

I think it has to do with how you clean your ear wax and how often. For example I clean my outer ear with water 5 times a day and wipe it using tissues every week or so. I also pop it by plugging it with my finger than moving it suddenly. This drains the water and moves the loose wax towards the outer ear where it can be easily removed.

I'm Hispanic and I notice my earwax doing both. There's some days it'll be flaky and many days it'll be gross and squishy. When it flakes, it falls inside my ear and makes me twitch because it feels weird, but alot of the time, it gets stuck in there and I use Q-tips to take it out. Too, I noticed I don't produce alot of earwax but I've gotten complaints from family that I smell. (Which I now find puzzling)

I have dry and hardly ever smell especially when I was young, only now I’m a bit older I do but only I can smell it or if it’s a really hot day sometimes it will smell if I’m wearing long sleeves I feel that must be because the sweat gets trapped but if it dries and my armpits are shaved so it can’t get trapped in any hairs it’s basically scentless.. only on really humid days, I only started wearing deodorant when I was around 16/17.. and not because of the smell just because I saw people being shamed for not wearing it.. I usually don’t apply it today either.. my boyfriend has wet earwax and if he showers she same day will smell underarms lol.

I have dry ear wax like my mom and my older sister and younger brother have wet ear wax like my father. Both of them have strong body odor like my dad, especially when they reach puberty that makes my mom angry every time they don't clean properly or don't wear deodorant but this problem didn't happen to me. Back that time we used to joke that they are my dad's kid and I'm my mom's kid who is lucky not to have an issue with body odor but now I can see some scientific explanation behind this.
