So for reference I am a truck driver, specifically a steel hauler, so most of what I haul is steel and aluminum coils, bars, and what we call slinkies. Now as a result of that I end up around a lot of rail yards, there's a place I go to alot in Kansas city, where I have to go through a rail yard. Quite frankly I have to say boxcars are amazing because there is so much variety, so many brands companies, the timeless style of them, it is so cool, last week I saw a Panam boxcar that was pretty cool. But second would be cars with slinkys those are pretty cool too because unlike the coil haulers you cab actuakly see them

No grain covered hoppers? Tank cars? Flatcars? I always get excited when I see grain covered hoppers in a train because I know that if the grain trains are rolling, then so are combine harvesters, and if combine harvesters are rolling there's a guarantee that somewhere some madman out in the middle of nowhere is trying to drive a 45ft draper header over a level crossing to beat the oncoming train. Those who have played Farming Simulator and have encountered SD41-2 No.5844 know what I'm on about.
