The only problem is Italy didn't have the industry sufficient to make enough plane or even time to train new pilots. Basically they entered the war half-prepared and no chance to rectify the situation. As for underpowered engine, does the DB 605 considered underpowered though?

couldn't agree more with you. while I am not a fan of the Ki-27 due to its weak armament, the Ki-43 is a turn fighting god and is beyond lethal once it has its 12.7mm guns, the Ki-44 is a decent energy fighter, and the Ki-61 is somewhat of an all rounder.

Well, I don't want to be THAT guy, but those were B6N dive/torpedo bombers (which was the inspiration to the ARC-170 in the Star wars) and not A6M Zeros. Other than that, I liked the video and I like the Zeros but recently J2M2 is my favourite from that tech tree. And yes, I love the Stuka too

Either D.371 or D.500 as my fighter pick, because they're essentially biplanes without a pair of wings and also on absolute crack. My bomber pick would be DB-3B, as while it has a decent ordinance up to 2000kg, its essentially a heavy fighter against anyone unaware. Either that, or Pe-8 because big bomb go boom or BV 238 because whale.
