I have a funny little story about the whole Necro "this blob is their friend" thing When I first started the game was in german so I leveled in german and only swapped to English at lvl 80, throught my journey I thought the shadow fiend (Schattenunhold) was shadow dog (Schattenhund) and when I swapped to english at first I read shadow fRiend. So I called him "Bello" which led to me naming all my minions for example: The Flesh Golem's name is "Isaac" cause he's also just a naked crying child trying to find a place in the world. I mean....inaccurate allegations!

There's 2 types of elems: you forgot the splashelem who hold onto their healer build, refusing to accept there's any other healer class that can compete (don't even mention "surpass") it. They started their journey 11 years ago, with just a staff and their F2 key, while the meta heal was gardian and are still there, with a staff _and a horn_ and twice the amount of F2 key, now that the meta heal builds are druid, mechanist or scourge. I'm one of those proud elems that will never betray the true essence of splashing their comrades-in-arm. o7

I feel called out on the second part of the ranger. I assimilate my pet, I devour its soul, and wear its flesh, only to slap that sweet opening and have 3x dps more than everyone else for the first 5 seconds, until I die and get outdps by the healer. But totally worth it.

I mainly play Thief, and I can attest that forced movement animation locking ourselves to death is 100% accurate. We're very squishy so when we can't dodge it can be lethal.

Just some stats from the Mesmer front. Portaling 12h non stop grands you about 5g in tips. The average tip per player is about 3c. And yes, those infusions are nessesary otherwise the other players won't find the portal.

As a former necro main, I 100% agree on the dodge part. It was only when I found my second love (engineer) that I started dabbling in the art of the dodge. I mainly play scrapper though, so I still don't really dodge, because scrapper is tanky. But I do dabble.

The thief part is totally accurate. You mostly play pvp variations of the game because the class was made for it... even if you hate killing people (like me) you absolutely love the fact you can escape 5men party trying to catch you. And yes i never volunteer to do mechanics. Firstly, thief is very squishy. Secondly, all your skills are forcefully slotted with damage abilities so you feel like you came into instanced content on a wheelchair. Of course you want as few responsibilities as possible in such a condition. 100% accurate. Also... dagger 3 please don't throw me into oneshot or off the cliff... any of them... there's so many... :( i swear i'll touch you gently and only for a reason, just please please please be kind

I've been a Mesmer Main for 7 of the 8 years I've been playing and I don't really do Portals much but it's more to the point that I just cause enough Eye Damage to make any situation work by mashing AoE Skills with my Two-Hand Staff and occasionally switching to my Axe/Focus when I want to rip through a few Enemies.

In my experience there are actually two types of mesmer mains. The first is the type that you describe: friendly portalers who deserve nothing but kindness for the service they provide for the community. The second are chad mesmers who reach top dps on charts who wish they did more. My bros out there with no chill riding 30k dps on CMs!! But they are still friendly and sometimes even wholesome as you describe.

Fun! I swapped from soulbeast to dps druid so I wouldn't have to worry about axe 5. There where a few other reasons as well, but those where less important.
