as a main 1.12.2 player i can say many reasons why i stuck for this instead of exploring new updates for 3-4 years and still use it half the time. to make this not an essay and just a comment, it's mainly that everything about the new systems and item data changes in early 1.13 snapshots making me feel uncomfortable with the game state back then and already having played 1.12.2 for its large modding community. it also just feels like the base definition of minecraft. the version that broke this up from 1.12.2 all the way to latest versions a lil and 1.12.2 the rest of it was simply because the nether update made the last wrap up to something i missed out on for years where i finally got the desire to update (or really play around pre-release snapshot 2) for the first time in 3-4 years. Disclaimer: this excludes playtime spent on lower versions for mods and servers.

1.7 was the first version (i believe) that supported the Chat feature for singleplayer games. 1.7 also added Locked chests as a slightly hidden block, and then was removed in 1.8. Keeping the locked chest might've been nice, but now it's been replaced with a JSON component that emulates locked chests, which also functions for Hoppers, Dispensers, and many other item containing blocks. 1.12 is the first version that added Saved Hotbars, which enabled saving and loading NBT packed items that can't be replicated on servers. I and many others in TotalFreedom use this feature to save our custom items. Since Shulker boxes exist, we can pack even more items, but it's not like we couldn't just copy a chest's NBT and place the NBT copied chest in our saved hotbars anyways. 1.13 added Boss bars, which ended the need of Withers and Dragons for custom boss bars, but servers like Hypixel still use the old method for compatibility sake. This version also made command parameters into lists instead of being outputted into the chat, and also highlighted certain portions of the command depending on the values, as well as show errors before you submit the command.

It's true 1.16 is less laggy on hypixel, but u can't get pvp texture packs and mods quite as easily, also i hate the sound effects, but most importantly there's no block hitting or 1.7 animations, and 1.7 animations are life

@@JudahWildlife Well I made my own texture pack and I honestly like the new textures and sounds more than the old ones. also no one block hits in bedwars since you deal less knockback as far as I know, but I may be wrong. Doesn't matter anyways sincd I tried playing 1.8 but I couldn't blockhit for the life of me (I guess if yoh never did it it just feels weird). So to everyone his own ^-^
