That’s only in the English explanation of Poison’s character. Back when FF1 came out, she was just a common enemy, but CAPCOM didn’t think westerners would be cool with the idea of beating up women throughout most of the game, so instead of making a different character, they just left her sprite alone and said “Eh, just say she’s a transgender man. They’ll go for that.” And I guess it worked? I didn’t grow up at that time, but I feel like most people didn’t care regardless whether or not she was female, I feel like they were just focused on beating up the enemies lol.
