I have to say I Jeremiah was one of the people I looked at when trying to figure out how to break into tech. He talked about how he followed Chris Sean’s videos and was like ok this is how you do it, it’s already been done so I know it works. I am taking the Colt Steele Udemy course for web dev and I am enjoying it! It’s replaced gaming for me. I appreciate Chris being able to out together these sessions with people who can share real advice on how to really break into tech!

I went into software development after the military as well. Only difference is I did it at the age of 39 once I retired after 20 years. My job in the military had nothing to do with tech. My MOS was 91B, which is a wheeled vehicle mechanic, but I also had a bunch of other positions outside of being a mechanic. My last job was actually a member of the US Army Esports team, lol. I started teaching myself to code about 18 months before retirement and was able to get an internship 4 months before I left the Army. The company I interned at hired me on full time and I've been working here a little over a year now. I actually just got a raise and a promotion, so I'm no longer an Associate. Age is nothing, if you're willing to put in the work, you have just as much opportunity as anyone.

The 2 of you should be a regular podcast. I appreciate how level you both are. I start WGU next week for software engineering. I want my dgree and I want the skill so win win, but my goal is flexibility. I worked at the big California utility company for 10 years before and like the military, many people are happy but live at work. I want to pivot so I can value my free time and mental health.

This podcast is fire Chris! Both of you have inspired me late 2021 to pursue a career in tech. I as well am in the military, starting coding/learning late nights early morning while trying to balance a combat arms job. My contract finally ends at the end of the year and ready to make a jump to another career that doesn’t take a lot of time away from my family.

Hey Chris Sean I really enjoy your videos! My questions is this? Should we still pursue software engineering? Its looking more and more like juniors will be replaced by AI. I mean look at chat interpreter. That type of tech came out in a matter of months. Its only capable of coding with Python but let's be real it wont be long before they include JavaScript etc. Im so scared to put all my time and effort into software engineering only to 2 years later find out they're not needed anymore. Give me an in depth answer please. This is really scaring me.

@Chris Sean do you have any suggestions on short program(s) that could help me cut my teeth and get a taste of which direction in tech I would enjoy and find skill between coding, data analyst and network security? I feel like you have had lots of conversation and inside that would benefit me. I would be working 40-50 hours a week so I can support my family.

It's funny both of you are hilariously perplexed by this. It's crazy you can make 30K/month (360K/year) with 150K subs while a senior developer position could have you making 150K/year while requiring substantially more effort and time.
