Just after Apollo 13 came out, I saw an interview with a NASA engineer who had worked on the launch pad for the real Apollo 13. He said that some of the scenes depicting the launch sequence were so well done that the only way he could tell they weren't real was because he knew there hadn't been a camera in that position.

Absolutely astonished that there is no mention of Mary Poppins on here. The research that went into identifying British garden birds and Cockney accents was so spot on, you'd hardly know it was an American production.

As a ex-combat engineer in the army in the movie Nobody when he's in the club with the claymore I told my kids that he couldn't set it off because the red det cord wasn't on it or connected but then at the end when actually used it the red det cord was in its proper place whoever was in charge of that deserve a raise a very good raise lol

The Lion King still blows my mind even after 30 years. The animation, the music, the performances, it still holds up as perhaps the best ink-and-cell animated movie, and they didn't shy away from the understanding that a true hero requires true tragedy. Also: United! United! United! I'm a fan of Man U, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Chicago Cubs. If the Cubs can take the pennant, United can find their stride.

I wont even start on "The Lion King" being accurate but the Martian has the BIG flaw that the Storm at the start would have felt like a breeze because of the low atmosphere...
@stevenstump2466 ай бұрын
Yes. But they do acknowledge it's inaccuracy in the video, too.
@Lodrik186 ай бұрын
@@stevenstump246 it doesnt, the video states that "storms that deadly are unlikely" while the movie says the storm is 200m/h or something and that isnt much energy in mars lower atmosphere...

A Night to Remember was wrong in its portrayal of the Titanic sinking. The White Star Line denied eyewitness accounts of the ship splitting in two and the movie accepted their claim. Only when they found the ship did they realize the accounts were true.
@The_Dudester6 ай бұрын
The thing about eyewitness testimony is that it isn't always reliable. I have degrees in Constitutional Law. Even in the late 1980's, when I went to college, profs warned us that eyewitness testimony should be taken with a grain of salt. One example is an event that played out when I was a cop. One day I was looking for a man with a gun. I was told his shirt could be white, or half black/half white, green or even green and red. It turned out to be a polo shirt that was white with a black collar. Considering that Titanic survivors had been double traumatized (the event + the weather), until the wreck was found, no one could be absolutely sure. Even today, there is is a dispute about the rivets popping, or did Titanic run up on an ice shelf protruding from the iceberg? I could bring up other examples, but what's the point?
@melissawickersham99124 ай бұрын
@@The_Dudester The weather during the Titanic disaster was perfectly clear, and the water was as still as glass. If the weather had been stormy, the ship could have avoided the collision with the iceberg in the first place because they could have slowed down and altered course during the storm.

I can tell you as a science geek into permaculture and food production they basically got everything wrong. I mean everything. You simply can;t grow potatoes that way. Much of what he did was stupid or impossible making it a bizarre addition to the list. I place it up there with The Core for science accuracy. Mat Damon made it work, the silly script nearly killed it. It was the lack of knowledge by the viewers that made it "seem" smart. You send a botanist to a planet without plants and you don;t include a seed?

Unfortunately most people learn their history from Hollywood which surely is the greatest propaganda mill in world history. All of these movies depict some realism but they are still far from a documentary. For instance, Apollo 13 astronauts said there was no dramatic dialogue in the capsule, astronauts being so stoic and matter a fact. However, director Ron Howard wanted to spice it up with some drama so he made it up.
