Harry Potter isn’t a broken idea because of any of the stuff mentioned regarding actors and pacing books. It’s a broken idea because the author of the original books is someone that WB should have nullified their deal with due to being a horrible bigot and the fact that the Fantastic Beasts movies as well have made general audiences not want to continue with the franchise.

I think the biggest problem with the idea, besides the author trying her hardest to lose her audience, is the fact that the movie adaptations of the original books were good enough that nobody is clamoring to see them re-adapted, while the prequel movies are so bad that nobody is interested in seeing anything outside the core books adapted. This series will basically only be spite-watched by transphobes who will get bored of it quickly cause hate isn't a strong enough motive to continue pretending to like something.
@asteriondeltoro1248 ай бұрын
Live-action One Piece, Season 2. Don't get me wrong, I love this show too, but there's three big problems here. First, it has the Sense8 problem: it's popular with audiences and critics alike, but it's so ambitious and expensive that just being popular isn't enough; it has to be a cultural phenomenon on the level of Breaking Bad or The Walking Dead in their respective heydays. Second, the source material- both the original manga and the anime- is easily available, meaning those who were really grabbed by the first season don't have to wait to see what happens next; they can binge-read and then be burned out on the world when season 2 arrives. Third, Netflix also has it's fingers into a new animated adaptation, "The One Piece". With the original anime also still running, that makes THREE different adaptations of the same material airing at once, plus the original manga is ALSO still running. That's too much for any franchise, and once The One Piece is in the can, it'll be very tempting for Netflix to scuttle the live-action version in hopes of transferring fans over to the alternative, which is much cheaper to produce. Live-action One Piece is my favorite show of the past year, and I'll hate to be the one saying "I told you so", but the writing's on the wall.

Harry Potter as a tv series sound amazing. But 10 years? That is way too much. The same cannot about Twilight. We don't need a tv series remake. Since Twilight has ended well in just four films. Harry Potter should have last 4 or 5 years instead. 10 years is way too much. Earthsea should have the film format as Harry Potter did. 4 years instead for that. Tv shows do have big budgets, but no where expensive or massive budgets as films did. Movies are way more costly and expensive than tv shows.
@javib29788 ай бұрын
At least the Percy Jackson is going the tv route for the books. It also has a legacy to follow, the film cast, budgets, and how many years it will last. The films are different, yet know when to end. It has the right to be made. I side with the producers at Fox. No one is right or wrong in the end. Let it be what it wants to become.

I want to imagine having Northlanders as a film series. Given that Mistborn is being made into a movie. Fantasy stories have the right to be made into movies, not just tv shows. I don't care if it goes against the source material. I really don't mind about it. These arguments have been a thing a few years ago. It's time to let go of these arguments and authors disowning the adaptations based on books. No more of this. Let me be honest. Time to move on from this topic. Times are always changing. Comic books, video games, and manga do deviations too. There is no point arguing about this. Everyone has rights and their own choices on how to do adaptations. Let it be what it wants to become.

07:36 I don’t think the HP show would be as hard to do as you might initially think. The first couple of books have relatively simple plots, and whilst yes you could stretch them out for a lot of episodes, I’m betting they will keep these first two seasons short and sharp and potentially shoot them simultaneously, say 6 episodes per season, 12 total. Then they can start stretching things out more for the other years, but initially I’d say they’d keep things short still and shoot simultaneously again for years 3 and 4, 6 episodes for 3, 8 for 4. And keep going like that. Obviously the release of the each year’s season would still be staggered a year apart, but companies have done that in films (LOTR) why not a TV show. So the stars would be promoting season 1, whilst already having shot season 1 and 2, and going into production on years 3 and 4. 🤔🤷 And by the time you get to years 5,6 and 7 the stars (the kids) would already have settled into puberty/young adulthood so age isn’t an issue, or at least less of one- it’s not gonna be Dawson’s Creek with 26 year old playing 16 year olds! 😂

Why is everyone talking about HP like it's, say, Pulp Fiction or something; the books came first, you know, and the movies left so much stuff out and / or did it differently (with the atmosphere of the first one being far too, for lack of a better term coming to mind right now, "disney-ish" etc.) that I bet Rowling was thinking "damn, we could have done that" literally the day she first heard about Game of Thrones, which was a format that didn't exist back in the early 2000's simply because no one thought about it and / or TV shows just weren't given enough money back then. Well, that's different now, so... let's just say if that show will indeed fail, I for one sure won't be the reason...
@MDestron22828 ай бұрын
I think they're taking time and doing rewrites and reshoots of Daredevil for the right reasons. Do I have any hope that it will be good? Sure. Do I think it will be? Well.... that's hard to say with Disney's current track record on TV shows. Just keep She-Hulk out of it. Completely. Another Peacemaker would be great if it ever happens and The Witcher should've been immediately cancelled after season 3. The rest I couldn't care about one way or another.

The ballooning gaps between seasons do put a damper on the audience. It's such a long waiting period that people sometimes even forget happened last, it really does the shows no favors. ps: i am absolutely not supporting The Witcher anymore, and not just because of creative issues and Henry leaving, but for the utter contempt the people making the show have for the fans of the source material. They refuse to take any criticism or reflect on their work, on their head the show is perfect as it and the fans are somehow sabotaging it.
