@MarvelX425 жыл бұрын
I think that part of the problem that people have with Caps shield always returning to him is that, if it is made of Vibranium and Vibranium absorbs all vibrations then the shield would just hit something and not bounce at all. The answer is that it isn't 100% Vibranium and that a result of its construction is that the edges are the other metal that it is partially made from which does not absorb all vibrations thus allowing it to bounce back, but the middle is Vibranium thus allowing that part of the shield to absorb vibrations and kinetic energy from bullets and other projectiles that hit it.
@normanlee66095 жыл бұрын
Indeed. Cap's shield was the result of Dr. Myron MacLain early experiments to create a new alloy for tank armor. He had hoped to blend steel and vibranium, but was unsuccessful in creating a controlled process. It was only by accident the 2 metals combined, but how it happened was never discovered so Cap's shield was the only result of the blending. But in the efforts to re-create the alloy Adamantium was discovered.

Everyone forgets the first black Captain America Isaiah Bradley.
@kingbeauregard5 жыл бұрын
Yes. And and for that matter, why doesn't Battlestar (Lemar Hoskins) ever get any credit? He was John Walker's partner during his time as Cap, and made for a better role model than John Walker.
@tickledeggz5 жыл бұрын
To my eternal embarrassment I only even knew about Isaiah Bradley because of that one scene in where cap visits him as an old man with dementia in a veterans home. Did he ever do anything cool or was he just another "let's make a black captain America to shut up the lefties and hopefully sell books to black kids" situation? (That last part wasn't in anyway meant to be politically charged, just an unfortunately true attitude people used to have in a nastier era)
@PhatGirlLuvr68Comix5 жыл бұрын
@@tickledeggz Bradley's is a great story about secret government testing on black soldiers during WW2 similar to the Tuskegee Experiments. He also prevents the Nazi's from making their own super soldiers on his first mission. Also there's nothing wrong with a positive hero for black kids to look up to.
@ShadowWingTronix5 жыл бұрын
@@PhatGirlLuvr68Comix Of course there isn't. I can't speak to Bradley himself because I thought that was an alternate universe tale until just now, but the question is whether or not he was a good character period. That would actually make him a bad hero for black kids if he isn't. Black kids deserve good heroes as much as white kids and a good hero, black or white, should be positive for kids of any race.

I find the location of the Washington Monument as a terrorist target in a story from 1987 interesting due to an actual incident that occurred in 1982. A helmeted nuclear weapons protester took the monument and visitors inside hostage by claiming his box truck parked at the base was full of dynamite. A reporter volunteered to speak with him and negotiated the release of the 8 tourists. The protester was later killed when police attempted to stop the truck after he tried to flee. The truck was actually empty it turned out. Can't tell me, it wasn't a deliberate choice to use the monument.

8. I'm confused by what's confusing about US Agent. It's a fairly straightforward character origin. 5. Not confusing. Bucky became Cap because Steve died, then "gave it up" when he himself died. Falcon became Cap when Steve super-aged, then gave it up when Steve was fit to be Cap again.

For #3, there were 2 other Captain Americas before William Burnside.(Not accounting for Isaiah Bradley) I suggest the book Captain America: Patriot for better details of what I am about to say. 2 superheroes of the era replaced Steve. First The Spirit of '76(William Nasland) and then the original Patriot(Jeffrey Mace). And then William Burnside became Captain America. Captain America:Patriot is about Jeffrey Mace and it was great at making me like this person I never heard of.

Concerning #2, I direct you to two panels in (of all places) "Daredevil" #231. In one scene, having confronted Matt Murdock about Nuke's seemingly-motiveless attack on Hell's Kitchen, Cap is left standing on a rooftop thinking "It doesn't mean anything to them...To them, its just a piece of cloth. Sometimes I feel so weak." In a later panel, Cap gently takes hold of the flag and tells a ranking General he's trying to get answers from "I'm loyal to nothing, General...except the dream." Cap ultimately answers solely to his beliefs in "the American Dream" and its ideals. Everything else is just background noise.

@@AmatoGore In my day, the shield was an adamantium / vibranium alloy, and was 12 pounds 3.2 oz without the straps. During the period when John Walker was Cap and Steve Rogers was trying to make a different identity for himself, he was given a couple different shields (one by Tony Stark, another by T'Challa), and because they were pure vibranium rather than the alloy, they rebounded a little differently. All of that said, how about this: conservation of momentum requires that the shields bounce off walls and such, but any vibrations within the shield are immediately eliminated.
