That was a terrible choice anyways. Sega was a console manufacturer and Software developer...Meaning Shenmue was an in house development, meaning it was an exclusive. Clearly they thought Shenmue was a console saver, so why on Earth would they have ported it to other consoles?...Not to mention most U.S gamers like to just shoot and blow stuff up. They don't like games that are slow paced and make you think. Shenmue was way better than GTA3. But at that point Shenmue couldnt compete with the violence of gta3. Americans don't like to think.

Saints rows formula works well in part 3 and 4. The characters has edges, the Story is unhinged and make fun of it by being political incorrect, but still without crossing the line. The reboot ... well, there r no edges at all and they put more work into delivering make up choices for the smooth family thing charcters than delivering interesting characters. It isn't even doomed bad, but at the end not memorable like the former gta clones Saints roow 1 and 2 ... which where greatly mocked in part 4, mayby they go on with the timeline idea of part 4 and mocking this average title too while brining the fun back

If Star Fox Zero offered more control options, such as a Classic Mode where players use the same controlling mechanic from Star Fox 64 3D (from 3DS) and a multiplayer mode in Main Story mode (where Player 1 mainly focuses on controlling/piloting Arwing but also able to shoot enemies at the same time and the rest of the players focuses on shooting enemies), just like Sonic Free Riders, then it would have been a better video game and would sell even more

As someone who has played and beat every Saints Row game except the first, honestly I feel like the biggest issue was the story and certain parts of the gameplay loops. It seemed pretty clear who they were making the game for, fans of the third game. Serious yet wacky. The world building was actually really interesting, with the city being a real highlight for the series, and the characters weren’t bad for just starting off. The problem was the story kind of flopped in the latter half, and certain missions for districts were just annoying. The second problem is that it just wasn’t spectacular. It was a good game, don’t get me wrong, but when you’re rebooting a beloved series after driving it off the rails, you need better than just good. You need something great enough that even the hardcore fans at least grumble that it may have something. About the only things that reach that level are world building and most gameplay. Combining that with the sometimes clunky character writing, technical issues, story that crashes towards the end, annoying missions, and overall executive meddling and you’re left with a game that can’t begin to succeed because any good parts are dragged down in the eyes of others by the things they were worried about since they first heard it was a reboot.
@garyballard1799 ай бұрын
Oh, *hell* no. The Saint's Row reboot was _not_ made for fans of the 3rd game. It was not made for fans of _any_ Saint's Row title. It was made for people that don't like Saint's Row. Nor was it a good game, sans license. It was simply a terrible game that would have been average back in 2007. The characters were all around failures in design and execution. The mechanic girl was the only one salvageable as a potential side character in a real Saint's Row title - as long as there was a different writing team, as the least-boring part of her personality was revealed _after_ it would have been relevant. (A _good_ writer introduces the pivotal background _before_ the emotional hook scene, not after.) The rest of the characters would be stereotypical NPCs that the original gang would run over at a crosswalk. Gameplay was boring and uninspired. Shooting mechanics were somehow too loose and too stiff at the same time. The story fell flat after the first shootout. The game was in no way decent or acceptable, not in this or the last console generation. Volition wanted to make Saint's Row 2.5, but they were overruled by their publisher, who wanted to use the franchise to push a friendlier, less gang-heavy story about "friendship."

@@garyballard179 well I mean what am I supposed to say to that? You’re wrong? You don’t really leave much room for discussion when your whole post is that everything was garbage in a reply to a post about how not everything was garbage. I mean did you even play the game or read my post? I stated that it had problems, one being generic characters, but that’s not different from any other starting out game. Having played Saint’s Row 1 since, I can say that those characters were pretty generic as well. It wasn’t until 2 that they actually became interesting people. If your opinion is that it was completely garbage and mine was that it was flawed with some good or even great points that weren’t enough to outshine the bad, I can’t really say anything except that you’re wrong because you don’t leave any room for any other opinion. I guess I’d say just go back and play one and then play the reboot and actually take the time to explore the world of both. The Shenmue argument is dumb because it doesnt take into account business practices back then. Why would anyone in the late 90s release their 1st party game on a competitors hardware? Theyre all still reluctant to do that these days, but back then it'd have killed the Dreamcast earlier. If you think about the consoles at the time there wasnt much carryover for a lot of games between eachother and thats just how they got your attention. That carried all the way up to the PS360 era. I appreciate theyre more open to finding business with their competition niw, but back then it was all about bragging rites to our own detriment.

Crash's modern downfall came from the fact that Crash "4": It's About Time decided to pander to "OG trilogy is the only good games" extremist fans of the franchise by soft-rebooting the timeline, excluding EVERYTHING after Crash 3 from canon. A portion of fans btw that were and always will be just a vocal minority. CTR, Nitro Kart, Tag Team Racing, Bash, Boom Bang, Huge Adventure, N-Tranced, Purple, Wrath of Cortex, Twinsanity, even the manga if they were even considered part of the main timeline I'm not sure, all of it gone so we could get a not-at-all funny joke one-liner in the game about only defeating Cortex 3 times. It diminished the value of the entire brand. It didn't help that in terms of difficulty, progression, visuals and design the game was a complete bastardization of everything that came before it while also featuring by far the least entertaining and least engaging story in the franchise. Crash "4" shouldn't have been a soft-rebooting Crash 3 2, it should have been a Twinsanity 2. Should have evolved THAT formula, picked up where THAT story left off. That's why they fumbled and the game bombed. That's why it was received well at first but now remains forgotten and not missed. It decided to turn its back on the fans and the fans in turn did the same to it and the franchise as a whole. Crash has literally died a second time due to Toys For Bob's mishandling.

You've got to be joking. The story is hot garbage. It starts nowhere, it goes nowhere, it's poorly designed, poorly plotted, and full of amateurish mistakes. Example: the mechanic girl (can't remember her name, and she's the _most_ memorable of the characters), when the [default name] gang drives her car off the cliff and she breaks down in melodramatic tears, you have no connection as to why the scene is so melodramatic. It's not until _after_ the car is destroyed that the exposition comes telling you why this was a dramatic scene for the character - when it's too late to make an impact. That exposition should've come several hours earlier. And the entire story has that lack of proper technique, that continually kills the pacing, meaning, or even the point of the story. Not to mention that the "story" - in a franchise all about the drama of being in a violent gang - is instead about the "power of friendship," and not beating the rival gangs (who have no background and no exposition to set them up - they were literally inserted as cannon fodder, not as antagonists).

bad controls? check out the play-station version of forsaken 64 then get back to me XD ps the n64 version was way better despite needing an expansion card for story iirc

Never heard of that Crash game, surely the reveal of Spec Ops would have been spoiled if it was marketed differently, how about XBOX & PS2 exclusives get ported to other consoles?!, there are countless games released annually which could be accused of oversaturating the market but they always sell like hot cakes (it's assumes), no idea what double A or triple A means; they're just games at the end of the day & everyone who didn't get the Wii U are idiots

Man, Shenmue is big as is, but if the game was ported to PS2 and Xbox, it would've been a giant.

I can tell you making the game for Twitter doesn't help please gamers. Look at the saints row no one knew came out.

Saints Row only failed because it didn't have the main cast in it. Like Johnny Gat, Pierce Washington, Shaundi, Kinzie Kensington and those other people. Enough said.

Yeah Jess is here save us from that awful Simon miller video, at least we can count on the gaming channel for a steady stream of good videos, unlike the wrestling channel where it’s Simon miller pretty much 24/7.

Stop perpetuating the bullshit idea that no one buys hard copies of games anymore. Many people stand by their reasons and choice to still buy physical. There’s plenty reasons every day to still buy physical. Many of them even mentioned in videos like this, whether they realize it or not.
