Royal Rumble 1999. Infamous I Quit Match between Mankind and The Rock. Plus it's Rumble month. This just happens to be the one I remember the most aside from maybe 2000 or 2001. Not because it's a particularly good rumble match but because there's a ludicrous amount of shenanigans. And I know how much Simon loves shenanigans.

Just for clarification, the Brogue Kick wasn’t Sheamus’ finisher at the time. It was the Celtic Cross. So technically Triple H only kicked out of a signature move. It wasn’t uncommon for people to kick out of the Brogue Kick at the time.

I don’t remember much from this wrestlemania, but I remember the Vince McMahon Bret hart match being one of the worst matches I ever saw. Ever. If they were going for sympathy for Vince McMahon, then they accomplished it. Bret came across as a mean sullen jaded bully and I just wanted it all to end. I also didn’t remember it being only 11 minutes. It seemed to drag on a whole lot longer.

I was never really into Bret (started watching after his time), but people told me he was a genius at ring psychology. Based on this match, I can only assume he completely lost any ability he ever had to tell a story in the ring.
