Is Jennifer Harman the greatest female poker player in history?

Vanessa Selbst has my vote. Harman’s nice but legacy? no. even women’s-history-wise, no. by awards, definitely no. looked up her first bracelet: 30 entrants lol. that’s just a few coin flips.
@RM-fs4dj2 ай бұрын
@Lybrel winning 2 bracelets is just a bit of run good. But playing and winning in the highest stakes games for years and years is skill.

I live in Las Vegas. While visiting the WSOP with my wife a few years ago, we saw Jennifer walking down the hall towards us. During that time, I knew she was dealing with an ugly divorce AND health issues. Even so, I asked her if she would say hello to my wife. She was the SWEETEST, MOST PERSONABLE angel I ever met.....my wife will never forget her.

“Poker” and “NLHE” are not synonymous. NLHE is a form of poker, and it’s probably her least favorite game to play (like most top tier mix players). Mix games at the high stakes are not, as this video asserts, soft. Nor is “GTO” synonymous with “solvers.” Game-theory-optimal play has been a key concept for winning players for decades in all the games. But unlike NLHE, the games in the mix are not solved, there remains no substitute for experience once the available information is learned. And the swings are higher, and it’s a smaller, more refined player pool-so there is arguably a great deal more skill involved in beating mixed games at the stakes Harman plays (to this day), especially on a consistent basis. That is her legacy, and it’s what got her inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame.

I’ve played a lot of live poker since the mid 80’s and met very few interesting people at the tables. Poker players, in general, especially high limit players are arrogant narcissistic bores. They’ve done nothing in life. Every conversation is a bad beat story. Most are drunks or addicts. I have no respect for the game as a profession except for a few top pros like Hellmuth, Negreanu and Phil Ivy. The best “people” are recreational players at 1-3 or 2-5.
