On the other hand, Most early 2010s pop was not only mindless but also soulless garbage but it did slap when I was a kid and most of the popular music that came after that was even worse, so I definitely can still comfortably sing along to those songs when I hear them even though they’re absolute shit

i think to generalize music, regardless of decade, when nobody has the same taste in music is a little edgy. nobody has the exact same music taste. & not every song has to have a deep message, sometimes you just need a rly sick beat. if they have listeners, clearly they’re appealing to someone. 🙇🏻♀️ most people like mindless music *&* deep music anyway. who wants to think all the time, y’know lol

His music will always define 2009-10 for me. So many memories from that era. His songs were everywhere and played on repeat. I remember the radio used to play ‘Dynamite’ on heavy rotation like every 15 mins haha, good times. I miss that era of music sometimes. But I’m glad he found peace after logging off from social media. Wishing him all the best for his future endeavours.

i think the real reason he became irrelevant was that he was too similar to Jason Derulo. this happens a lot in the music industry when 2 artists are too similar. One has to go. Think Michelle Branch and Vanessa Carlton.

I loved his jackets back in the day haha his song Higher was originally intended for Kylie's Aphrodite album but it didn't happen but Kylie was able to feature on it for his album which was cool, it's actually a 'classic kylie' style song and i loved them both together on it, there was about 6 months where i would always hear it on the radios nearly everyday, i would say it was a huge hit. The tik tok harassment was fucking shocking, they loved jason derulo's content but mocked and harassed taio which made no fucking sense at all but then again tik tok is for the [redacted] generation and i can't stand the app or it's users, i was on there once and joined a live stream of a transgender person listening to music and having fun and the comments were fucking disgusting and beyond ignorant.

Actually, he has been involved in controversy. I forgot the year, but he received MASSIVE backlash from saying he only puts white women in his videos. That lost him a lot of fans in the UK, I'm not sure about anywhere else. But I remember it being a big topic of conversation when i was in school..

His debut Departure was an excellent album, it all went downhill from there. Aside from some singles the follow up albums never were as great as Departure. But he was a really artist in terms of production and hooks. I don’t blame him from moving on (no pun intended) but im glad to hear he is doing great behind the scenes.
