Great video, at least you try to use the pro-i how should. I got mine from day one and I never been that happy with phone before. I was a wedding photographer for 15 years and this phone give me the closest picture quality to a real sony camera.

Post processing doing everything for the user takes the fun out of taking photos, but so does carrying around a large camera (for some people). That's one of many reasons why Xperias are awesome. Great comparison!

For handheld night mode for the Xperia the closest go in program auto mode and turn on auto HDR. Then keep your hands very stable and shoot because the shutter speed can go as low as 1/8 second. For the pro I, I recommend set to F2 .

You ably demonstrate how unnatural looking or ridiculously oversaturated iphone pictures can be. And you are showing what I have been saying and trying to explain to a lot of people. The approach Sony has taken is a deliberate choice to differentiate themselves and give as much of an Alpha experience as possible on a smartphone. Basically more of an experience of using an actual camera with natural looking colours and manual control. A deliberate approach to stand in contrast to what Apple is doing. And as you ably demonstrate......neither approach is necessarily "better" or "worse" per se. They have their own strengths and weaknesses. It's just a matter of taste, and your needs/use case for what you want it for. The main point is that a different approach.....such as what Sony is doing here ...is perfectly valid. Not every phone needs to work like an iphone. And not all smartphone photography needs to work like an iphone. Just like how some people prefer an automatic luxury sedan, and others prefer a manual sports car.

The thing is, phones are capable of both. If they would work on implementing it

Nice content👍🏽 I also have the pro-i and even though i get good results it sometimes takes me a while to get the right settings. When i compare it to my wifes 1iii i am convinced the 1iii usually makes better pictures in basic mode. In manual mode the pro-i makes pictures that are a lot better especially in low light conditions. I believe that if Sony makes a successor to the pro-i they should only use the 1" sensor with a variable lens. As the other 2 sensors are comparable to the other flagships.(The 1iii telephoto is better imo)

Btw I wanted u to know that there is a very old phone called Huawei nova 5T. I'm not a reviewer yet but it would b nice if u give it a try. This phone shoots insane pictures and outputs 48MP uncompressed 16Bit 95MB raw files. The dynamic range is insane when editing. It's not good for daylight shots because of the vignetting. But it's unbeatable at night in my opinion. KZbin doesn't let me share links so I can't show u. But just give it a try. And remember to always shoot at ISO 50 when there is a source of light. Just compensate with the shutterspeed.

Yes definitely I'm interested to buy Xperia phones over point of shoot camera No squabble... Addition of Picture profile so important, hopefully SONY adds this on either in Xperia 1 iv or Xperia i2. One inch sensor, SD card, Mic Jack & 70-105mm lens will win it for SONY surely.

Is it possible to change the ratio of the Photos in the settings to 16:9 ?

Yes you can change that in setting in the photo pro app on the pro-i but be aware of that then you can only take pictures in 9 MP.

Thank you for the detailed comparison. Would you still recommend either one of these camera in 2023? I can get an edu discount from B&H Photo for either one of phone, but I have a question. If let's you wanted to take the picture at the moment and don't want to go into the Photo Pro app to dial in for shutter speed or the ISO, how is the quality of the pictures in the "basic mode"?

Thanks for sharing. I actually traded the X1iii for the Pro-i. I got the Xperia 1iii to take pictures of my dog and as I go rather than carrying my Sony @ 7 series camera. But the speaker went out and returned it for the Pro-i.

Idk if it's only me but I always shoot at ISO 50 at night on a tripod. Don't b afraid to use slow shutterspeeds. If things move then it moved 😂. But what stays still will b as crispy as a daylight shot. And if u want to max out the juice out of the phone. Export the RAW DNG file as a 16Bit TIFF file from lightroom. The quality is DSLR level. I get 95MB files from my phone. When I export them in TIFF format they get to 287MB😂 the amount of detail is insane. Perfect for prints

Nice comparison but I think I take better pictures than you on my phone Xperia pro i 😁 In the night pictures I compared the pictures myself with the iPhone 13 Pro I see that the Xperia Pro i has great capabilities in night photos, but you need skill and a small tripod, then you will be impressed by the photos , Thank you my friend for this great video and we must say that the iPhone and Xperia both take great pictures but in different ways, the iPhone is easier, Xperia is a bit complicated but it is better for those who use it correctly and show results amazing I must also say that using Xperia in automatic mode also awesome, even in night scenes, it will show scenes that are closer to reality and will not make the night look like a sunny day like other phones, Sony has the right thinking in image and video processing, you can capture the scene as your eyes see it, and if you want otherwise, you can change everything manually

I love these reviews! But I really wish at least part or all of the Xperia reviews were done in Auto Mode with Photo Pro vs. Manual. Most ppl take pics in Auto, and Manual will lead to more varying results b/c one person's way of manually editing photos is gonna be different than others'. I love that unlike Samsung, OnePlus, and even at times Apple, Sony (like Google Pixels) still continues to offer ACCURATE colors with their phones. I still wish though that they would stop being so stubborn and FINALLY offer an actual Night Mode, cuz from what I can see, they need it!! They seem to be improving their Auto Mode as well, but as of last year's reviews vs. other main brand phones, they still seemed to be behind a bit most of the time. I don't think I could ever leave Google and go back to Sony Xperia phones again until they finally fix both of those issues (adding Night Mode and making Auto Mode better and more consistent).

@@rusirubatuwatta8731 I agree it is easy, but it really kills the art of taking pics. I have no motivation whatsoever, but when I pick up the Sony, you'll see me spend an hour around the neighbourhood, taking awesome shots that I am proud of, lol. If you use just a bit more effort, the night shots are much better on the Sony. Also, shutter priority is non-existent on the iPhone. Really, there is no art in iPhone photos, just pure convenience. It really depends on each person.
