Sad news yesterday. I’ve loved Eric’s music through the years. The Rasberries in high school, and All by myself is a song I’ve embraced in my heart, when it came out, it spoke to my heart, that was dealing with losing my first love. Life is sad, but, we gotta carry on while we’re in it. Well miss you Eric!

I was 12 when I heard "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again" and, although I had no experience to help me relate to the song, it was the first time I had an emotional response to a song. I played it over and over on my little plastic phonograph with the nickle on the needle arm so it didn't skip, and I felt so sad for the singer..then I saw Eric Carmen on "Mike Douglas" show and I had a big crush, telling everyone I was going to marry him one day. So silly. I am such a dork. But i have ĺoved his music all these years, I think he deserves more credit.

When the USA's FCC authorized the radio industry to abandon analog radio for digital, one of the reasons they approved it is that people would be given information about the song they were hearing. Sadly, many stations don't show that information. As I understand it, they use the bandwidth for that feature to do other things instead. Since the authorization assumed it would be done, the radio stations should be shut down if they won't do it.

The Raspberries performed on the Tomorrowland Stage at Disneyland CA. in late 1973 / early 1974. I didn't even know they were going to be there until I saw the sign on the stage. I convinced my girlfriend to have a seat. After Dave Smalley sang a couple of songs, he announced that Eric unfortunately had laryngitis and would not be singing. Some people got up and left. It was sad and slightly embarrassing to see people leave. This was before their "Side 3" album was released, so their catalog was not immense. But they still put on a great show! Imagine in 1975 your school has the potential of winning a concert with Eric Carmen & the Raspberries. Only catch is you need to write “WIXY has Zip” On a sheet of paper front & back. The most sent in wins. ( WIXY 1260 of Cleveland, Ohio) Lumen Cordium High School an all girl catholic school did win & it was my freshman year! When the nuns realized what happened- they almost rejected the prize. The number of students in the former school was approximately 500. Eric still lives in the Cleveland Ohio suburbs with Amy & a border collie. He is heavily involved in his charities & has an extensive volume of unreleased recordings.

Music has changed for better or worse. 1964-1994 was the best 30 years of music.

@@whathappenedtothem_ i predicted the death of music in the early 90's. the stuff being made at that time with samplers was great, but i wondered what would happen to original pop music. also: you kids get off my lawn 👴🤪

@@whathappenedtothem_ For the worse i would say, well deff the 80's anyhow, that was disgusting, synthetic tone, repetitive beat & melody , fake drumming, overly commercial and amateurish in concept and to top it off embarrasing week pimlply faced vocals. The futur of music will always struggle to be the 60's.Even punk , electrinic and rap to name a few were pioneered in the 60's.

I loved the Raspberries when l was a kid. I was 12 when l heard go all the way for the first time. I personally was into drums and although we were very young, the few of us that couldn't go a day without practicing music and songs wanting us to be a great sounding band. Rock music was at its best then and, Eric and the Raspberries was one of my favorite influences. My own Mother loved them along with us and wanted us to do I Wanna be with you so much she went to the local music store to buy out all the 45's that would replace the worn records. Yes, we only had records in the 70's but Eric's contribution to rock was another reason I'm so grateful for all the music l was fortunate to grow up with and to have a mom that bought my first Ludwig set in 1971. God bless Eric Carmen And my mom, I'm sure she's up there telling telling Eric the whole story! Haha. The love and the great memories will live on forever. ❤

I was at Charlotte High School in Rochester, NY in the 1970s when the Raspberries came out. I still remember buying their first self-titled "Vinyl" album with the "Scratch and Sniff" sticker on the front. Yes, if you scratched it, it smelled like Raspberries! They had a lot of great songs but my two favorites were, "I Can Remember," and "If You Change Your Mind." I had lost a high school sweet heart back then, and it seemed every one of Eric's words resonated with the feelings I was going through. After Eric left the band for his solo career in the late 1970s, I believe it was the Summer of 1975, I saw the remaining band with Wally Bryson on lead guitar, doing a show at the Hilton High School gymnasium in Hilton, NY. The Raspberries were Great with Eric and Eric had many hits alone and it was great they re-united in the later years to do great shows together again. Thanks What Happened To for a Great story, Thanks Eric, Thanks Raspberries for Great memories... ♥✝🙏

Eric Carmen is mostly retirement living high on the hog. The royalties from Dirty Dancing are still paying pretty well. Nevermind all the other songwriting and producer credits he has.

I should have expanded.. "Let's Go All The Way" takes me right back to memories of my NYC neighborhood when I was 9 years old, when I fell in love with music.. Even the pop (& Rock) music of the early 70's was so soulful.. OMG it can almost bring tears to my eyes if I close my eyes and go into the zone.. Let's go All The Way is one of my all time favorite songs to this day along w "Fallin in Love" by Hamilton Joe Frank & Reynolds.. Lol, Betcha By Golly Wow by The Stylistics, I want You Back by The Jackson 5 & "Ain't No Mountain High Enough by Diana Ross & The Supremes.. Anyway flash forward to 7th grade, "She Did It" was another favorite and reminds me of a girl I was in love with in my class.. I never realized it was also by Eric until years and years later... And now I find out only tonight that it was Eric that sang "Hungry Eyes" and took me right back to college and another love!! Eric Carmen definitely had an impact on my life and my romantic memories.. THANK YOU!! And thanks for the perspective of a GREAT artist!! ~Peace
