Wow! From beginning to end incredibly informative. Honestly some thing that stood out to me was how much you curate every show just by picking out the books and putting them in an aesthetic way. I didn’t realize you did all of that before show. Honestly honestly it makes me wanna do my first show now! Last thing I loved all the different little nuance tips that you gave everybody. Chefs kiss of the video!

I’ve seen some where someone wins auction then the shipping for them goes down automatically does whatnot auto do this?
@resellmavenКүн бұрын
Yes, the shipping is completely controlled by Whatnot, with the exception of flat rate boxes or max shipping. Once a buyer pays their initial shipping cost, all future purchases will be at a discounted price depending on the weight of the items they are purchasing. Many times people will have free shipping for a few purchases and then will have $1 or 2 and then free shipping for a few more items. This is all automatic by Whatnot and goes vis weight

I still haven't found an answer even after reaching out to Whatnot. Their response was automated. How do you do a show with the front facing camera without it mirroring. Im doing clothing and need to be able to quickly show the item and interact with my phone. I tried connecting my computer to interact but the playback screen is black with the whatnot logo.
@resellmaven2 ай бұрын
Hey, so I've been told when I do the front facing that it looks mirrored to me but the chat says it is normal for them. So fo example I will show a book and it looks backwards but they say it is normal looking. I would always reccomend making sure your app is up to date or uninstall and reinstall it to ensure but it should be correct for the viewers. Let me know if that didn't answer your question!

How long did it take to get a steady flow of customers in your live? I just started and people just come in and leave
@resellmaven2 ай бұрын
Hey, I started in the Disney category as well as the garage sale category and within the first ten shows I was able to get about 2 to 5 people I saw consistently show up and purchase or talk in the chat. Always having new stuff to show was my thing and that wirked really well, so making sure there is always something new and cool for buyers to potentially buy is important. After about 6 months I was able to get a grasp of what people wanted, but I also learned that sourcing Disney in my area was unsustainable so I switched to books. A small part of my audience transferred to books as well but I had to rebuild in an new category. By 1 year I was making majority of my income from Whatnot and since then have always had a handful of consistent buyers and a few new buyers each stream. It does ebb and flow though, some days or shows suck and it's rough but sometimes you're shocked you sold so much. Hope this video helped!

Thanks for the great video! How often do you have cubby holders not come back to purchase held books? I think it’s a great idea to help save buyers some shipping; but people can be flaky and forgetful. Hopefully they’re not; because the time you invested on selling in initial show. Thanks again!
@resellmavenКүн бұрын
Hey, thanks so much and that is a great question bc people can be very flaky with a system like this. I made it very clear early on that if a buyer didn't purchase their bundle from the cubby at the end of the week, they would have about 2 chances and then they just wouldn't be allowed to use the system anymore. Of all the time doing the cubby, I only have 1 person who is banned from holds. Every week I may have 1 or 2 piles that don't get claimed bc they are new buyers that forget they held something, but I just re show those books at the end of Saturdays show and they tend to be purchased by someone else. It works really well for me, but I definitely have to be firm about the rules bc people try to bend them or extend their hold and its a simple no.

Thanks! Very informative. I just created a video for tonight’s show based on your recommendation. What happens with the Cubby Books if the buyer doesn’t come back? (Sorry if I missed it if you said that)
@resellmaven2 ай бұрын
Hey, thank you and love that you're implementing a preview video! Sometimes people don't come back on Saturday and we refer to it as someone abandoning their books and we call them orphans. So orphans get shown and a second chance at adoption. Most get scooped up and any leftovers get put on the shelves.
@MD-wk3gj2 ай бұрын
@@resellmaven have you ever tried contacting them with a link to a buy it now so they could checkout? Do you ever put them on a block list if they do it again?
@resellmaven2 ай бұрын
I don't like to tag anyone when that is happening because a lot of times they'll pop in a few minutes after we've already sold their books or the show is wrapping up and then popping in last minute to cash out is just an inconvenience. And then I definitely don't hold the books so I wouldn't be sending them a link or taking time to even put it in the buy it now, if they aren't there they missed them and maybe next week they can grab them if they are still available. Also there is a pass system when more than one person wants a book as I'm showing it and sometimes someone else will pass the book to that person and then for them to not purchase it at the end of the week is a little rude to the other person that was interested in it so I would prefer to show all the leftover books that weren't purchased so that anyone else that wanted something would have a chance to maybe grab it. I do keep track of those that abandon their cubby more than once because they just won't be allowed to utilize the cubby if that's an issue. But I have not had officially block anyone from using the cubby in the future

Just making sure I understand... it's okay to use copyrighted music during your WN show?
@resellmaven2 ай бұрын
Hey, so no technically you are not allowed to use copyrighted music on Whatnot. You can definitely use playlists that are made as non-copyright music free to use by anyone and I do that from time to time. But Whatnot does not crack down on it typically I've never had an issue with it, knock on wood, and it's a lot more enjoyable to have popular music than generic music but that's up to you and your own moral compass of how you want to operate your show. You can choose to use whatever type of background music you feel comfortable doing although it states in the terms and conditions that just like any other for-profit venture, you can't use copyrighted music

I haven't finished the video yet but I don't want to forget to ask if it's not mentioned - how do you offer bundled shipping? I bought some stuff from someone because I'm preparing to do my first show and I thought how better to learn than to buy stuff myself 😊 And I was pleasantly surprised that everything I bid on after the 1st was free shipping. One other question - I'm selling low/mid tier womens clothing, what would be a good starting price? I'm hoping to off a ton of stuff because I'm moving out of state.
@resellmaven8 күн бұрын
So there isn't really a bundled shipping option, you can make bundles of items and make a single listing for them but the shipping price will always reflect the weight of the items the buyer is purchasing. You can offer a flat rate or maz shipping option but those are a little more advanced and I recommend starting with standard shipping first when getting started. If you want to learn about flat rate just Google "Whatnot flat rate shipping" and that article will help better explain it. I have zero experience in selling women's clothing and I know it is an extremely competitive category. I would recommend watching a dew shows and see how others are pricing. If you have a lot, then maybe offering bundles or lots of similar items instead of individual items would work well.

How is the cost of shipping calculated. I am guessing the customer is paying shipping cost.
@resellmavenАй бұрын
Hello! Yes the buyer pays the shipping cost, but you can include the shipping cost in your pricing and offer free shipping. The community on Whatnot seems to favor making it a standard of buyer pays the shipping. Depending on what you are selling, Whatnot will automatically calculate shipping based on the USPS service it would go under (media, ground, priority).

When you only have a few people in the show, can you just show the same titles again? I know there needs to be a few new titles for the regulars (3 or 4 ppl 😂) but I’m still kinda new and new people are coming in that haven’t seen the old ones…

Hey! Of course you can definitely show the same books during the show or in future shows but having a few new items is definitely helpful to get people excited. You are always going to have new viewers who have never seen your show before so showing older items is totally okay!
