Re the Z-lite, a good idea to carry inside the pack if there’s room. The alternative is on the outside but then obvious that you might be a wild camper. I’ve got the similar Nemo Switchback and I really like it. Acceptable level of comfort and it won’t puncture.

Just found your channel today mate. Subscribed 5 minutes into first video. Very good, informative and high quality reviews. I bought the exos 58 as I bought it new cheaper than the 48 for £96. Other than that I've got very similar setup. Just sold my Big Agnes Copper Spur UL1 and seriously considering the lanshan 2 to replace it with as I like the idea of trekking pole tent instead of a freestanding one. Was meant to do WHW and GGW thru hikes over a 2 week period in May but Covid has delayed this until next year. Nothing to do but train look forward to it. 😁 cheers again as it's reviews like yours help give ideas and motivation. Keep it up. 👍 ATB Nathan

Interesting to see your gear - a few random inexpensive suggestions to shed some more weight if I may: Make up your own First Aid Kit - it will be better suited to your requirements and probably weigh less. Do you need such a large Powerbank? Or could you use a smaller/lighter one. Ditch the striker from your ferro rod - the spine of your (excellent) Opinel's blade in the closed position will do the job even better. There are lighter headtorches with similar output to your Alpkit - for example the NiteCore 25 at 55g You have an awful lot of individual bags/sacs there - surely some could be ditched and their contents shared between fewer bags? Enjoy your wildcamping - that's what really matters!

Hi there David, thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! This is the 1st time I’ve ever really weighed everything out, and totally agree with everything you mentioned! Thanks again mate, much appreciated Ash 🏕

@@AshOutdoorsUK More than welcome mate. Coincidentally, I just moved to a smaller bag because I wanted to be less conspicuous for 'stealth camping' in nearby woods (while the current restrictions are preventing me going further afield), and I've found it's remarkable what I can fit into a 30L bag, certainly enough for a 1-2 nighter in settled weather conditions, and I'm no hardcore ultralighter, that's for sure! If you feel like 'splurging' you might consider an inflatable mat like the Thermarest NeoAir - 350g so a bit heavier, but will save you an awful lot of pack space. Sleeping stuff is a personal thing though. Also, if you take a buff (as most do), wrap it round your pillow so you don't need the liner. Lanshan 2 is a great tent - I use a Hexpeak V4A and love it, but have just treated myself to a Lanshan 1 Pro for use in settled summer conditions - 700g and £100 what's not to like?
@AshOutdoorsUK
@AshOutdoorsUK 4 жыл бұрын
Yes I’ve been looking at the lanshan 1 pro also, it’s the condensation I’ve heard about that puts me off as it’s a single skin. I normally have the alpkit cloud base as my summer mat (350g) that would save loads of space in the bag, I just fancied trying the z-lite as I haven’t actually got that out on a camp yet. So I agree... a 30l bag should be big enough! Thanks again mate Ash🏕

@@AshOutdoorsUK is it worth to use down sleeping bags? for UK conditions? I would want to use a bivy if it s down bag, so it s not really a weight saving then.. I m kinda scared to use down. been camping in super damp conditions..
