If you don't feel like eating just plain old beef stew, you can make some biscuits (either from scratch, if you have all the ingredients, or from a baking mix) and have the biscuits with the stew -or- you can split the biscuits and put the beef stew on top of them, which is one of my favorite things to do. And rinsing canned fruits can indeed help reduce some of the sugar content.

Yes ringing the canned fruit off ,does in fact removes most of the high fructose corn syrup, because that's nearly all in the liquid .❤

High fructose corn syrup will be replaced with came or beet sugar. Kennedy will propose it and it will take years for the legislation to go through. No big problem for senior boxes, the government will buy from manufacturers who follow the new rules. Same with using veggie dyes instead of chemical dyes. Canada already requires it so the manufacturers know how to do it.

Just found you, from UK. I have never seen a senior box. Do you guys get then regularly? They look great. We had salt cut down in lots of our foods, they didn't stop manufacture, just jigged the canned food.. Then came sugar & same scenario! We all add our own bit of LoSalt and maybe a bit of Canderel to sweet stuff! You look great, thank you for posting, really interesting seeing other foods.

yes we get them once a month , it really helps .Honestly we would all be better off with no salt and sugar but sometimes you just gotta have it . Have a great weekend

Could you please explain what is a seniors food box. I am in Australia and we don’t have such a thing. We do have church food banks that people can go and get food boxed but we pay a certain amount anything from about $10 up. And on certain days some offer free breads plain and sweet and savoury and some free food items. I notice your food banks seem to offer free items any day. Here also at some (not all)a concession or pension card is required

Yes , If your 60 or older in the Usa , you can qualify for a senior food box , we get it once a month , we do not have to pay anything for it , and of course its just meant to supplement our groceries/pantry's . Now we also have food pantries they are usually at a church and you can go and get free food ,bread ,vegetables,etc etc . SO the difference in the senior food boxes and pantys is pantrys you can usually go once a week and you get more fresh items , the senior food box is monthly and most always canned goods

@@Sheribail3Thank you.During the COVID lockdowns here major supermarkets offered for sale including delivery food boxes with basic food items for the seniors. That were unable to get out to shop. They were delivered to your door. I live rurally and I found that Looking at the list of items in the boxes it was cheaper to order groceries online and pay the $15 delivery. I now have a well stocked pantry that will see me through a few weeks.

It really is cheaper to order online , even safes on gas .And I like that I can put things in my cart and by next day I may take a item out so it saves money , when I go into a store I wanna try different items lol .This way I can see my cost etc

wow welcome to 62 hehe . Do not forget your senior discounts also ( I seem to always ) Check with your department of aging , and if they cant help check on the "feeding america" website there should be a way to put your city .state in and find out .

Also some senior centers give food boxes out..call or look online. Heck anyone in any state can call 211...it's a statewide helpline with Resources and emergency services for food etc...

Call in a welfare check, explain it's not normal for the dog to bark non stop. Worried about the person next door. I'm glad somebody is going to make them stop adding cancer crap to out food. I think they keep it in a crate in the front room and they lay up in the bedroom where they do not have to mess with it , they got 2 kids to and they are always in the bedroom to when i take bailey out they knock at me waving . oh im so thrilled someones gonna help us with food . defiantly gotta have dressing and pumpkin pie .
