I have just recently reviewed what golf clubs are in my bag, and I've got a major confession to make! I've surprised myself actually!
I'm so glad I've become aware of this before the season! Lets check out WITB, and why I might be looking to change!

Welcome to Gary Martin Golf, I am a PGA Professional based at Huddersfield Golf Club, West Yorkshire. I started my KZbin channel during lockdown whilst being Ferloughed and unable to work.
My goal is to be the peoples golf KZbinr. All my help and advise unbiased with our subscribers best interest at heart. I want to share my knowledge and understanding of golf and golf products, to help other golfers avoid making all the mistakes I did in my 20 years playing and working within golf!

I wasted plenty of money on clubs over the years Gaz. Now I wait until the new models come out and then look at the last years models and save heaps of money getting clubs that we were told were the greatest things since sliced bread. I think a lot of golfers now realize that the "Latest Models" are not really an. improvement to the previous models.

No, I completely agree! Technology doesn’t move on every year, it’s rubbish! I’m fortunate enough to get abit of a discount, but I’ll be continuing to promote oldie but goodies for our eBay and used club warriors. This would be me if I didn’t work within golf ⛳️

I do the same thing. Recently bought the 2022 version of the Mizuno driver and Cobra 3 wood. Saved a lot of money.

Gonna follow your lead. From now on. Only fitted clubs replace what's in my bag. Probably start off with driver next season. PXG 211 with a fitted shaft n grip is what I'm thinking.

It’s so easy to keep switching out, I think this is a good way to make the most of what you have until calculated and guaranteed gains are available.

Had a fitting last year by a tour fitter, the difference in performance between even a tour fitting and a regular fit was unbelievable, can't stress get the best fitting experience you can get, makes a massive difference

Going through a similar experience myself right now having recently changed my irons. I haven’t changed the type because I’ve gone from titleist AP2 to Srixon ZX7 so the heads are similar but the lofts are totally different. They aren’t even consistent loft differences as the pitching wedge is the same loft, 9 is one degree stronger, 8 7 6 are all 2 degrees stronger and the 5 is 3 degrees stronger! Having to relearn all my yardages.

It’s a nightmare isn’t it. I don’t think I can get my head around how far my 9 iron and wedge go. It’s hindering, more than helping me 😅

@@garymartingolf have you considered doing a combo set? You could go 221 in pitch, 9 and 8 so you have more of a blend into your wedges and have more of that blade familiarity in the scorning irons? Shouldn’t have any trouble selling the 223 pitch 9 and 8 to someone looking to do the same but blend the other way into the 225s?

I was using a 425 driver. Getting on well. Went to see a titleist fitter knowing I’d be sticking with my ping. Ended up with a tsr2 lost no control. Gained more distance. Gained better everything. 👍👍

Nice to see you hit a solid drive and your putter was 🔥 👏🏼 I bought new clubs without a fitting but saved a wad of cash and on Wednesday I have a log left and lie fitting at a club markers. Canny wait 🎉😂 I use Trackman at the local driving range which gives me ball speeds and distances but not club head speeds so I use this info to fit myself and it seems to have worked well but I'll have the fitting to see I we can squeeze out More performance especially in the 5-6-7 irons which I feel could be much better a bit flatter. £35 a session I'll be there every year 😂

I have one "fitted" club in my bag and this morning I've been looking on ebay to replace the head 😅 it's a Cobra LTDX LS 3 wood....I went in wanting the normal LTDX but came out with the LS.....after a few rounds I'm already regretting it.

I think you should do some testing with the new Mizuno STX driver. Every review seems like they all say it’s not the longest but definitely accurate. I think that is a good fit to your game

Hi. So just to confirm the pro v1 x was longer for you? Cheers. I prefer the feel of the pro v1x just struggle with the higher flight in the wind.

I’m going to get fitted for all my future purchase. I do know it helped, it’s small margins in some cases, but it does help! I do appreciate though, not everyone can justify buying fitted clubs, but at least try and use factory built.

The best money I spent @Ping Gainsborough in 2022 was being refit for my i200 with stock new graphite shafts. The cost was nominal and effect astronomical. You just might need a shaft tweek by the mfr.

surely you fit yourself on a launch monitor tho? they have a simulator at Woolley park, best thing I bought was a Ventus blue for my stealth is so so much better than any stock offering at higher swing speeds those kind of shafts make alot of difference

Yeah, we self fit, but you’ll see in my driver fitting next week how much you can gain through having every selection of shaft available in a fitting.

100% agree - I go even older. Just picked up a set it T300s graphite from 2019, £400. Those were over £1000 brand new

Was this before a new match? Or the match you lost on Jame's channel? If you are fitted for clubs it also gives you that bit more of confidence when you step up to git a shot

Not if you put some head covers on every second club so the don’t clatter. My i200’s are 4yrs old and look brand new

I couldn’t afford to buy clubs last year, that’s the honest truth. All my clubs are ex demo heads or trade ins.

You say you have not had a factory built driver but you bought the PXG drivers 2 of them from PXG, obviously not fitted for you but that’s standard with PXG?

Good point. I did, and in reflection, they both felt well balanced, I just didn’t settle on them as I felt they weren’t the right shafts.

When it’s your job, you neglect yourself. A self fit being a calculated guess, rather than spending an hour on my self using a launch monitor.
