I picked up a 86 fourtrax 250 couple weeks ago. Hadn't run in 2yrs and rear was locked up for 400. Some penetrating spray and a pry bar got the rear end free and little messing with the carb I had it running and riding in less than 2hrs. I love these old Hondas

You seriously put upgrades and did mods increasing safety and performance. I've been riding/racing these forever. I worked at Murray Hertz Honda in Las Vegas when they first appeared and worked the pit for Lenny Geiger's team, who we sponsored. I rode the 185. Bob Baker and I built the. Honda 90 he beat Jeff Ward with to win the mini national championship as his last mini race. He broke his left ✋ in that race,then immediately got on a 125 Elsinore (same day) to ride his first pro race for 3rd place. I'm so old I rode a Bultaco 160 I n Barstow to Vegas "scrambles". (finished, no seat, broken handle bars) .. .I like what you're doing.

@@mrcbuilds There is no such a thing as a perfect and when I say wrong I just disagree. It does not mean I am right and you are wrong that's all. If you were not doing a great job I would not be watching you all the way across the country in a miserable state lol of Southern California North East San Diego By the way you talk I'm guessing you're somewhere in North Florida or South Carolina? Also I don't have any Hondas actually have a couple of 2 wheelers 2004 WR450F, 2002 DRZ400 and 1985 Yamaha 225DX. I did grow up in the 1980s with a 1977 very first year Honda Odyssey and 83 Honda 185S. I don't like 4 wheelers I am a dirtbike guy but for some reason I also do like threewheelers so go figure Well thanks for doing a great job keep making videos and I watch some of your videos over and over again and my opinion is that Honda two valve motors were a lot more durable and did not have top end problems like their RFVC 4 valve

Nice job on fixing them up. I just gave a three wheeler away because I got tired of tripping over it in the shed. It was well used but well taken care of. The rear fenders were cracked and it had deep lug rear tires. It was a 1985 Honda 250ES. I drive something now with power steering where my wife sits near to me. We ride mostly on a trail to a place we own so we have to haul stuff for a few weeks at a time.

He will just use it around his place as age slows us old guys down some. We have a remote recreational place about 7 miles from his. I feel like I got took! I have a question. I recently bought a 1984 Yamaha 200E Tri-Moto for $1,500. I had no idea what to look for. Your video helped me out (after the fact) after I purchased this 3 wheeler. I've always owned dirt bikes. To cut to the chase, this 3 wheeler runs great, the fairings look good, but the rims looked like shit. They were rusted. I sanded down the rims and painted them. The tires were dry rotted. The guy was asking $2,000. There is some surface rust on the handle bars, the hand brakes work mediocre, back brakes are great. Bottom line, I feel like I got burned. Plus the frame has lots of surface rust on it. What do you think it's worth? Just a ballpark figure?

I'm no expert, and certainly not on Yamaha's, dont ket what I say or others bother you. You felt like it was a good deal at the time you bought it. Remember that. You can join yamaha forums and learn about other models and values, if you choose to sell your bike, you would know more next time. Not seeing it, but if it runs and drives good, and everything works as it should 1500 is not a bad deal regardless of the brand.

@mrcbuilds

What's your compression number? Has it jumped time? Are the valves adjusted? If starting fluid dose not make it run for a few sec. Its low compression or timing way off, since you said you have good spark. Download the manual, take your time, chase one problem at a time, recheck your compression, must be 90psi or better, then check the timing, if the timing chain has jumped a tooth or someone put the rotor on 180 degree out of phase. You can fix it.

Hi Smokey, It depends on what your objective is and who your customer will be. A collector wants nice OE fenders, but the rest of the bike needs to be just as nice. A regular guy, wanting to enjoy the bike and ride it, would like Maier's, because he knows he can replace them if he breaks them in the future. If your just fixing it up to keep for yourself, than you are the only person you need to please. Personally, if the choice was busted up stock fenders or Maiers, I'd chose Maiers

Finally a realist the 3 wheeler forums would shoot you for telling real value. Up here in Alberta a big red 250 mint and I mean mint was a 1000 dollar machine up until covid now people are asking upwards of 3k. A beat out 185s is now a 1500 machine up here because of price gougers. The problem is that they're not rare there were more 3 wheelers made from 1978 to 1988 then we've had quads made since. They sold for 1149 cdn new in 88 and that's a 250 big red with all the extra accessories you could get including a rifle holster in the Honda mag I have here in my hands even if you applied inflation and today's pricing they would still sell for what 2500new. Guys buy 20 of them And part them out and kill the market for cheap used machines it's wrong and distasteful. There not model ts there not Corvette's or Ferraris they are old hugely produced machines that have millions just sitting in farmers fields and Japanese garages. Example I can buy a recoil for a new can am for less that 100$ try finding a recoil for a 185/200 for these than 200$. 50 -60 year old well off guys have killed the market as well paying 3-4k for one of these because they grew up riding one then everyone thinks there worth that cost. I can buy a used Honda or a bruteforce/kvf 2-3 years old for that cost 4x4 with any creature comforts you could need. It's nuts what collectors have done to the atv market in the last 5 years.

Hey Neil, yep, it's good to have a budget. I guess it would depend on the parts needed.
