thanks for highlighting the non integration with SL6. …with economising in mind, I was thinking about trying to purchase an S Works SL6 frame, and then, I had been thinking buy aerofly 2 bars, but now I’m irrefutably convinced on the merits of the rapide. The only fly in the ointment being now that for the integration and the weight, arguably, one might argue S Works SL7 is the only logical objective, perhaps mitigated by purchasing the frame set first.

On my SL7 I have an ENVE SES aero bar and it goes out a bit on the drops compared to hands on the hoods. I think the ENVE is better. It doesn't have those covers to mess with.

You can run these on an SL6 though… I am. You just don’t get the benefits of full integration because the headset bearing/fork isn’t designed for it but the bars and stem by all means work, your brake cables just show around the head tube as they normally would. With a quick google search you can also find an SL6 to SL7 “transition/adapter” kit which makes the SL7 S-Works stem blend in better visually but also a compatibility thing with the spacers included. So yeah, SL6 owners, by all means jump on this - there is even an adapter kit for the new Rapide cockpit coming soon.

I have 2 bikes with both aerofly 1 and 2 and I agree SO MUCH with this video!! Sprinting is very frustrating on the aerofly 2 because they interfer a lot with your wrist and the top is too sharp for your hands compared to the Aerofly 1. For me, the Aerofly 2 is the biggest disappointment on the Venge 3 by far.

I bought a SL7 Pro in november 2020 and got it with 42 cm aerofly II bars. However I wanted 38 cm bars from the beginning. In july my shop finally got 38 cm bars but the new roval rapide ones which I really like much more than the aerofly II bars.

I have the Aerofly 2 on my Venge and don’t like it, riding on the tops is very uncomfortable to my wrist since I can’t ride with a straight wrist like on a round bar. If I ever got another new Specialized bike I’d run an Alpinist cockpit.

the alpinist cockpit is very skinnny and almost to skinny on the round part...... keep it in mind both people I sold it too double wrapped the tape on the flats

Looks to me from the shape of the tabs that they've increased the length of the round part in the centre. Possibly to allow light and/or Garmin mounts for those not running the tabs.

That cracked handlebar is a toast - I hope your shop has good liability insurance or I wouldn't let customer ride with that kind of an issue. Was looking to build Tarmac SL7 as S-works frames seems to pop back in stock from time to time on their web site, but these proprietary handlebars are out of stock...oh well.

The Tarmac SL7's stem can take any 31.8 mm handlebar and the Rapide fits almost every stem in the market. So nope, it's not proprietary.

Do people actually race using this stuff? You have one good crash and you'll want to replace your $300 handlebar because it can't be trusted. Then to add insult to injury the shop won't have it in stock it will have to be ordered so you basically need a spare bike to keep training.

go with the rapide it is much better looking then the aerofly, I meant it doesnt look good with cables coming out but I instralled a ton of the rapides on the sl6 and its a money bike

Haven’t sent up my roval rapide yet. Have been using Aerofly 2 on my venge and tarmac pro but my next bike I’ll throw on it. Has anyone put an Aerofly 2 or rapide on an Aethos? I haven’t seen it. I’ve seen someone throw an Aerofly 2 on a Roubaix before. I am also surprised Specialiazed kept it at $300. Since they been increasing a lot of products left and right recently.

no you always need to replace them once you remove it because those are crush items so once you tighten down they get crushed to seal...... so if you remove and then re install then it wont crush right again and leave small leaks and air

Can anybody help me please. Has anyone tried to install a combo of Roval Rapide handlebar with Zipp SL Sprint stem on a rim brake bike/mechanical groupset? From my understandind SL Sprint stem is pretty wide, and my only concern is gear and brake housing in such combination due to lack of space between the exit holes on the handlebar and the stem: how tight could it be? Does it make sense? Will it brake and shift gears as smooth as if it would have more space? Thanks
