@@Arcademan09 Just so you know "the background band" was Paul Shafer, Will Lee, Sid McGinnis, Anton Fig & Bruce Kapler who were some of the top musicians at the time known as "the world's most dangerous band". They changed the way Late Night tv shows approached music & why shows like Fallon have The Roots as a house band. Paul Shafer is an amazing band leader who was on SNL for years & out the band together. Musicians of my era used to watch Dave just to hear the band, they cold play anything with anybody & make it sound great A lot of the younger, Hiphop artist didnt think they could play their music because they looked so "nerdy" but the they heard them & it was a wrap. From hiphop to soul to rock, they could do it all! kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2ibYnuAptObeM0

Never been repeated as genuine as it was back then with Letterman + Paul and the band.. The interaction and integration alone was phenomenal... Let alone Paul's quick wit hovering not so far from Dave's, ultimately complementing/ combining to be the experience that it was... They sat above the corny basic shit they had to say/pervay... Norm Macdonald highlights Dave's high level intellect, while portraying the everyday man approach to comedy and is beyond spot on... Never gained intellectual/vocabulary knowledge from any other late show host within the hijinks other than from Dave... Quisling being a standout, then Norm's ability to play the everyman in return while pretending not to understand is a late night reverse/faux level of intellectual back n forth that I truly believe will never be surpassed in these BS times.. Also Norm n Conan n Craig are amazing but different levels comparatively with the pretend to be dumb for relatability sake approach due to unrelatable levels of intelligence... Genius!
