One of many fond memories: Bryan came to me at work one day and asked if I could add some rivets to one of his cymbals for a "sizzle" experiment. I was not aware that this was even a "thing" ...but after he explained what he wanted to achieve I wasn't about to say no (I was a huge fan and HUM was about to go on TV). We were both pretty nervous about me potentially "trashing" the cymbal ...but after successfully drilling out some clean and evenly spaced holes we were able to relax. I came up with my own stylish technique of securing the rivets and Bryan was stoked! It was a high-five moment. Love you man!

Yes, I'd say so (and it was awesome!) We spent plenty of time at work together and never had a problem with the other. Bryan was by far the coolest and most "chill" guy I have ever worked with and equally a smart/clever and quick learner. I went to a number of his shows before and after getting big. After a great show (HUM at Mabel's in our home town) he came directly off stage and met my latest girlfriend (Cathy had very long hair btw :) All three of us were grinning from ear to ear ...for multiple reasons. Bryan of course was covered in sweat which made his taped-up but still bleeding hands that much messier looking ...still smiling he said something like like: "Eh, comes with the job!". @@robotdudeguy

True story: I almost broke both of Bryan's legs at work in 1995 when the brakes went out on a customer's car. I threw the car into park when the brake pedal went to the floor and Bryan jumped onto the hood. The front bumper was only inches from the wall where he was hanging up keys for one of his car audio installs. Whew!

One weekend while on tour in 95, Hum played a medium sized venue in a small town in South Carolina. After the show, a few fans invited Hum to come with them to a party at a friend's house. The band had planned on spending the night in town before hitting the road to drive to their next tour date anyway, so they accepted the invitation. The party was decent, nothing crazy, not too crowded, say 30 people or so. It was early December and there was a nice bonfire going in the backyard, so most of the partygoers migrated outside to enjoy their drinks while standing around the camp fire in the cool Autumn air. Everyone was having a good time, including the guys in Hum who were really just thankful for the opportunity to relax a bit, have a few beers and not be crammed in their tour van, driving hundreds of miles to their next show. The clear night sky and the soothing flicker of the fire was a nice change of pace too... But then it happened. Unfortunately the fans that had attended the show that evening didn't realize that not everyone at the party was familiar with the band Hum. And maybe if it weren't for the distracting shadows cast by flickering flames of the bonfire, they would have noticed the arrival of their haples fool of a friend named Kevin and what he happened to be carrying in his hand. But by the time they did notice, it was too late. Kevin had already placed the strap over his shoulder. And just like that, at the speed of sound, the fate of countless lives were sealed... as Kevin began to play his acoustic guitar: In the presence of HUM! We all know what happened next. The mere site of an acoustic guitar is enough to send the members of Hum into an uncontrollable rage. But the very second that sound touched their ears.... well, the outcome was inevitable. No one in the entire town would be spared from the wrathful decimation of Hum this evening. Not the children. Not the elderly. And certainly not Kevin. It has since been rumored that of the 3,400+ towns folk who paid the ultimate price in that December of 1995, not a single individual was ever able to be positively identified due to mutilated condition of the remains that Hum left scattered throughout that small town in South Carolina.
