I have been up to the very spot you were at many times over the years it's one thing to be down below and see the Monument from the observation deck but to stand on Washington's Head....I can't describe how cool the view from there is.

I heard just the other day a couple of College Student age kids thought they could "sneak" around and come in from another direction.....WRONG ! they didn't get very far before being caught. @@secretamericayoutubechanne2961 it was supposed to be shoulders and one was supposed to have an arm but Mt Rushmore is also stolen Sioux land. Under the Great Sioux Land Reservation in 1868, it was officially given back to the Sioux since it's sacred to them and they saw no value in keeping it. The Sioux called it the Six Grandfathers and it was part of the sacred Black Hills of the Lakota Tribe, it was ripped away once again after gold was discovered but because of the Great Sioux Land Reservation, the land was taken illegally. The U.S. Government seized the land illegally in 1877 after gold had been discovered there. President Grant secretly ordered the army not to protect local tribes, and put a bounty out at $300 for every Native killed. The carving of the president's into the mountain took place in the 1920s and was partially funded by the Ku Klux Klan. the construction of the president's head was basically a cover-up and distraction for the real reason why they took the land.

"Ten thousand years from now we can meditate and wonder whether our descendants, because I think they'll still be here, what they will think about us, and let us hope that at least they will give us the benefit of the doubt, that they will believe that we have honestly striven in our day and generation, to preserve for our descendants a decent land to live in and a decent form of government to operate under." Less than 100 years later, you and all of your descendants will be called vile names and considered irredeemably evil on the basis of your skin color. You, as a resident of the past, will somehow be considered a slaveowner, though slavery was abolished years before you were born. All of your great monuments will be systematically torn down and replaced with images of the new gods of this age, while your descendants cheer and hate themselves. The form of government that America created will be attacked from within and without, often by those who have most benefited from it. Even the benefit of the doubt, given to past cultures, will be lost. All of Western history will be measured by the technological and moral standards of the most recent Twitter feed, and found wanting, so it too must be destroyed.

In my opinion, America is flawed, yes it is. but it can get better. the founding fathers were racist but we don’t build statues of them for that, we build them for what they did for our country.

It's both the tyranny of the mob and the morally righteous. They are the people laughing down at the giants below them. Imagine if they had this kind of mindset with math and science. They would do nothing but scoff at people like Euclid, Newton, Archimedes, and Pythagoras because they neither knew what we know today, nor the concepts and revelations they created. They are the kind of people that would laugh at the Romans for creating and using aquaducs instead of metal pipes.

My family and others went to South Dakota for a week during Sturgis to check out all the historical towns, Mount Rushmore, Sturgis bike week, and mainly to ride four wheeled down there, everyday we would have to pass Mount Rushmore and it’s very interesting how many angles you can see it from. The most impressive thing there was crazy horse, crazy horses head was bigger then the entirety of Mount Rushmore and that’s with out the feather on his head, and they haven’t even sculpted the horse yet, imagine the size of that when it’s complete. Sadly crazy horse will probably not be finished in my life time because I’m already 17 :(
