Great review, this game seems like it'd be right up my alley, old school graphics, Diablo style gameplay, but your comments saved me from getting suckered into this

Yeah I was so bummed about this one. Some people love it though so always pays to check some other opinions but for me, I couldn't even force myself to finish it.

I do like the game, but its got to be optimized for the switch. I play with my brother online and anyone who isnt host constantly gets dropped out of the game while loading into another area. On single player I actually had to stop playing because I stated getting severe lagg spikes and frame rate drops in specific areas especially in a crypt area. Restarting the game no longer fixes the issue, feels like the game works better on pc but runs pretty bad on switch at the moment.

I'm hoping that a patch can fix a lot of it. I've had other people tell me online is a mess too! Fingers crossed the game gets some support and I'll dive back in when it's updated.

Nice review. I agree with a lot of points you mentioned, especially with quests feeling meaningless. But the i actually had a lot of fun with the combat and the gameplay. I can imagine having more fun with it if i could play this coop. I wish it had couch coop and not just online coop though.

I agree. 4 players would make it a great couch co-op game. What classes do you play?

The switch physical comes with hammerwatch 1 & 2. Do you recommend getting this for the first game or it's too outdated? I tried the demo for the second one on steam and wasn't impressed which is a shame because this could've been fantastic

I guess it depends on the price. It's probably significantly cheaper to buy the first game on Digital?

They just released the first update yesterday that adds a boss fight mode? Aside from that I'm not too sure sorry!

i think the game is pretty fun, especially when i play it with my GF. I dont really mind the feeling of being lost in this expansive world - it gives me a little bit of trial and error learning. My chief complaint so far which i dont know if anyone has been experiencing yet is how my gf keeps getting dropped 50% of the time when we load a new map in addition to having to start over when i load into a specific cave since it loads and then saves immediately after spawning me out of bounds. without persistent mode that means my character is lost forever and i have to restart from scratch.

This comment makes me want to go back and try it again, except for the drop in error. I think at the 15 hour mark all the frustrations got the best of me and I just couldn't do anymore. That pirate boss at the start wore me down on my first playthrough hahaha

@whatsitlikeau wait till the game gets some updates. Maybe persistent mode at the very least. That way you can roll your toon over if anything happens to your world file like getting stuck lol. I feel like multiplayer would benefit from that as well since it would give you more of an incentive to join with your persistent toon rather than one that you will never own.

Man...unless I am missing something the menu/item navigation is total garbage, please tell me there is a button or something I am doing wrong...that God awful joystick and cursor in game to select stuff in menu is God awful. This alone is killing the game play experience

Unfortunately the game hasn't had any support since launch so I doubt it will be fixed. PC players are modding a lot of these issues out but Switch gamers are left to fend for themselves.

Reviews are subjective so you might like it? For me, it had all the right ingredients, it just didn't blend them well at all. PC fares much better since mods enhance the experience.

This game is a scam itself. It advertised multiplayer that doesn't even work and is full of bugs. Diablo 4 at least didn't sell something that doesn't work.

Yeah I've heard the multiplayer is bugged. I didn't really enjoy my time with Hammerwatch 2 and haven't been back to see what's been fixed yet
