Ahh, Ruinarch. When I first played this game, I had one of the colonists just... die. I STILL have no idea what killed her, it didn't specify anywhere. That single mysterious death, however, caused SO many issues for the colony. The first person to discover the body was accused of murder by the second person to see the body, and things just escalated from there. I didn't need to do anything; I just sat back and watched the madness unfold. Again, all around this one mysterious death. I DID eventually take it upon myself to 'rescue' the first 'suspect', turned them into a Cultist... and with that, THREE MORE PEOPLE were accused, one after the other, of murdering the mysterious death. The colony even fractured into two factions, as one or two of the colonists had been Elves - and there was some segregation tied to it. It got pretty crazy, and it was just hilarious to watch unfold.

I would LOVE a form of "corruption" where you could cause a form of biological corrpution, boney spikes, corrupted rocks/crystals forming out of stuff, things becoming DIRE BEASTS if left alone long enough, which, if tamed/taken to a kennel, could be used as a mount depending on the creature(dire chicken, probably not, Dire WOLF? yes) maybe even devastating effects towards those who are melee, like caustic/boiling/corrupted blood, that could poison, burn, or just injure those in melee range when attacked. maybe even to the point of corrupting even plant life, trees having tendrils that flail, grasping vines that either if someone weak enough, stop them, or at the least, slows someone down, maybe even thorny, so they take light amounts of damage walking through, with a chance to bleed them. etc etc. there could be SO much done with ANY FORM of corruption. hell, maybe even magical corruption where it unbalances a creatures natural magical essense within them, or that passes through them, causing thigs to be kind of like rimworlds boomalopes and boomrats. or stuff that causes them to slowly decay, into undead versions of themselves, or mixed with the corrupted flora, so a wolf, with some wooden living armor parasite, that counts technically as two creatures, slashing/bludgeoning damage kills the wood creature around the wolf first, then the wolf, while piercing would kill the wolf first, but be less effective against the wooden parasite creature, but if the wolf dies, the wooden parasite that acts as armor tries to find a new host, which, if its a person, could essentially control them even. so many possible things that could be made, but I don't know if they'd ever be a thing...

@@mrbentoik I kind of agree on the fact that it seems to be easily done, and not much had. I kinda wish there was more things to do, and after time, maybe you might have to change up your strategy, like if you go brute force mode to just kill them and such, places get stronger and stronger defences that make it rather much too risky and time consuming to attack and attack. and if you have cultists/cause issues secretly alot, they might start having jobs akin to "detectives" that can soon figure out if it actually was someones fault, reducing peoples dislike for others, and even sometimes gaining or strengthening bonds! maybe even at some point, just ways to protect against anything, making it so the end of the game, its either feeling like the FINAL of FINAL places to conquer/destroy/convert, or even ways to where you can do things well enough to have little "kinks in the armor" per say. essentially either using each method at your disposal until the final you face, or being able to sabotage certain things along the way, with maybe spies, saboteurs, blackmail, etc. I love the concept of this game, but it REALLY needs to be in depth a lot more. like what if someones evil? instead of brainwashing them into a cultist for you, maybe you could make deals with them for "power" or something they wish to have, like they'll do this, if you brainwash their crush/person they've fallen in love with, to LOVE them. or even make someone their slave, or kill someone/cause someone extreme pain. this game is a good concept, but if your a demon trying to take over/conquer/destroy the world, you NEED to be able to do more REALLY fucked up things rather than just kill...sabotage crops/poison things...make conspiracies or what ever of people causing trouble when it was just you in the background... etc. this game, could do SOOO much, and have SOOO much that could be amazing, even in CHALLENGE, and I don't even CARE for challenge and I feel it would be good to have some cool challenging things. like, the further you go, the less villages and small towns you might see, and you might get into CITIES or something, maybe paladins could be a MAJOR thing, people who can straight up deny CERTAIN things, but not in an artificial difficulty way, like there would be a way to get around them, get rid of them, and be able to do what htey deny even... sorry for the long post, I just loved the concept of htis game, and hearing that it kinda hasn't changed all too much, is kinda sad...

"Amok" - According to Wikipedia - has roots in Malaysian/Indonesian culture: "Amok originated from the Malaysian/Indonesian word meng-âmuk, which when roughly defined means "to make a furious and desperate charge".[4] According to Malaysian and Indonesian cultures, amok was rooted in a deep spiritual belief.[5] They believed that amok was caused by the hantu belian,[6] which was an evil tiger spirit that entered one's body and caused the heinous act. As a result of the belief, those in Malay culture tolerated amok and dealt with the after-effects with no ill will towards the assailant.[7]"

It's funny seeing Indonesian/Malaysian words with twisted meanings in modern Malay. In the Philippines, amok is a verb meaning to fly into an unreasoning (often suicidal) murderous rage (similar to the phrase "seeing red" or the term "berserk" in English). Often experienced in the heat of combat, but can also happen when intoxicated or under trance. Thought to be caused by being possessed by inhuman spirits and treated by shamans who exorcised those spirits. "Hantu" in Malay originally meant nature spirits, not demons. They can be benevolent, malevolent, or simply inhuman. Similar to the "kami" and "yokai" of the Shinto religion of Japan. They were the spirits that Austronesians originally interacted with in the native religions (though technically not "worshipped"). In the Philippines, they are known as "Anito", in Chamorro "Aniti", in Hawaiian "Aitu-a". During the pre-Islamic and pre-colonial period, these spirits also acquired the Sanskrit name "Devata"/"Dewata"/"Diwata"/"Dewa"/"Dibata" ("minor gods") due to trade with India. Same with "Belian", which originally meant a shaman (usually women or feminized men). That word (and its cognates: "Baylan", "Babaylan", "Balian", "Walian", "Bobohizan", etc.) with the original correct meaning still survives in the Philippines and non-Muslim parts of Indonesia and Malaysia. Their meanings got twisted to mean something demonic when the dominant majority of Indonesia and Malaysia converted to Islam.

This is a very solid game, cursed by problems that I feel like, in the first two, should be easy to implement: 1. So much crap you need to do is 6 extra steps past what it should be. For instance: to kidnap a villager, you have to add them to a list, find them on the list, create a party, summon the party, watch the party combat the subject, and deliver the subject. 2. The cooldowns shouldn't be a thing if the spells and powers have costs. 3. The base building aspect is VERY dry. There's basically nothing to do in terms of creating an evil biome. And no visual effects. Everything is very static, like a painting.

@shaggy_snacks3 жыл бұрын
The game is worth the buy. The devs may not being out updates as quick as some people would like however they are updating the game. The devs have put out 8 major updates in the span of about a year. Bought the game when it originally came out and seeing it now. You can tell that the devs are taking into consideration what needs to be addressed and what can be built upon. Solid game with a bit of a learning curve however once the basics are mastered. It is extremely satisfying watching an entire world slowly be destroyed while you operate in the shadows.

The best of this type of game being developed was called That Which Sleeps. Lore was heavily inspired by Lovecraft. Presentation and art was awesome. Incredibly complicated world and mechanics rivaling Dwarf Fortress leading to emergent storytelling in line with the theme. Unfortunately, I believe it was so complicated and ambitious that the developer could not consistently make the AI function correctly. It ended up being a Kickstarter disaster with people dropping out of the project, the developer running out of money before finally going dark. Tragic. I still hope someday someone is able to get the code and assets and continue development.
